Congress Inn Introduce
The Congress Inn in South Hackensack, New Jersey, is a motel that provides straightforward lodging for travelers in the Bergen County area. Situated on a prominent highway, it caters to guests seeking a basic and accessible place to stay, often for short-term needs or those on a budget. As a motel, its primary focus is on offering essential accommodations for individuals and families traveling through or staying in the region.
In the landscape of North Jersey lodging, the Congress Inn serves as one of many options for visitors. It aims to provide a functional base for guests, offering fundamental amenities to facilitate a rest stop or an overnight stay. Understanding its positioning within the local accommodation market is key for prospective guests to determine if it aligns with their specific travel requirements and expectations for a motel experience.
The Congress Inn is conveniently located at 370 US-46, South Hackensack, NJ 07606, USA. This address places it directly on U.S. Route 46, a major east-west highway that runs through Northern New Jersey. This prime roadside location is a significant aspect of its accessibility, making it easy for travelers to find and access, particularly for those on a road trip or passing through the area.
Its placement on US-46 means the motel offers direct access for drivers. It is well-connected to other major thoroughfares in the region, including Route 17, Interstate 80, and the New Jersey Turnpike. This network of highways allows for relatively straightforward travel to various points of interest in Northern New Jersey, such as the Meadowlands Sports Complex (home to MetLife Stadium), and the American Dream entertainment and shopping complex, both of which are within a reasonable driving distance. For those looking to venture into New York City, access via the George Washington Bridge or Lincoln Tunnel is feasible, though traffic conditions can vary greatly.
The motel typically provides on-site parking for guests, which is a crucial amenity for a roadside lodging establishment, offering convenience and security for personal vehicles. While immediate public transportation options may require a short walk to bus stops along US-46, the primary mode of access for most guests will be by private vehicle, given its highway-frontage location. The ease of getting on and off the highway is a key convenience factor for guests choosing the Congress Inn.
The Congress Inn, as a motel, provides a foundational set of services centered around offering basic accommodation and convenience for travelers. While specific details on all amenities might vary, typical services found at such establishments, alongside observations from customer reviews, generally include:
Basic Room Accommodation: The core service is providing guest rooms for overnight stays. These rooms are equipped with fundamental amenities such as a bed, a private bathroom, and often a television and air conditioning, catering to essential lodging needs.
Front Desk Service: A front desk is available to handle check-ins, check-outs, and general inquiries. However, customer feedback suggests that consistency in rules and information provided by different front desk staff members can vary, indicating a need for clear communication when interacting with the staff.
Housekeeping: Housekeeping services are provided for room cleaning. Customer reviews, however, suggest that the approach to housekeeping at this specific motel might be notably different from standard hotel practices, with one review mentioning it is "not even optional there" and that "housekeepers are prioritized more than any other hotel and motel." This implies a potentially rigid schedule for cleaning, which guests should be aware of.
Parking: On-site parking is typically offered for guests, which is a standard and necessary service for a motel located on a highway, providing direct access to guest rooms for those traveling by car.
"Cheap To Go Breakfast": One review mentions a "cheap to go breakfast." This suggests that some form of complimentary, quick, and basic breakfast option may be provided, likely designed for guests to grab and go, rather than a full sit-down meal. This can offer a basic convenience for starting the day.
The Congress Inn in South Hackensack presents certain features that define its nature as a budget-friendly motel. While some aspects have received varied feedback, the core highlights typically revolve around its basic offerings and location.
Highway-Side Location: Its placement directly on US-46 is a primary feature, offering high visibility and convenient access for travelers on this major thoroughfare. This makes it a practical stop for those driving through or requiring quick access to regional routes.
Affordable Price Point: As a motel, the Congress Inn generally aims to offer a more economical lodging option compared to full-service hotels in the area. This affordability can be a significant highlight for budget-conscious travelers, including long-term stay guests as noted in one review.
Basic Accommodations: The motel provides essential room amenities, fulfilling the fundamental need for a place to sleep and rest. While detailed information about specific room features is not available, the focus is on providing straightforward, no-frills lodging.
"Cheap To Go Breakfast": The mention of a "cheap to go breakfast" indicates that guests can expect a very basic, complimentary breakfast option, likely designed for quick consumption. For travelers in a hurry, this offers a minimal convenience to start their day.
Operational Model with Housekeeping Priority: A distinctive and frequently highlighted (though controversially perceived) feature is the motel's apparent emphasis on housekeeping operations. One review describes housekeepers as "prioritized more than any other hotel and motel," and that cleaning is "not even optional." This suggests a strict approach to daily room cleaning, which might be seen as a feature of the motel's operational model, albeit one that may conflict with guest preferences for privacy or flexibility.
As an independent motel or potentially part of a smaller, non-chain affiliation not widely publicized, the Congress Inn typically does not participate in large-scale loyalty programs or widely advertised promotions like major hotel chains. Its "promotions" are more likely to be based on direct pricing or short-term, unadvertised deals.
Potential "promotions" or special offers at the Congress Inn could include:
Competitive Direct Pricing: The most consistent "offer" for a motel like Congress Inn is often a competitive room rate, aiming to provide a more affordable option compared to larger, branded hotels in the area. This is a perpetual "special offer" for budget-conscious travelers.
Walk-in Rates: Motels frequently offer flexible walk-in rates that may be adjusted based on occupancy, demand, or the length of stay. Guests arriving without a prior reservation might inquire about the best available rate for their stay.
Extended Stay Discounts: For guests requiring longer-term accommodation, the Congress Inn might offer weekly or monthly rates that are significantly lower than daily rates. This is a common practice for motels catering to transient workers or individuals needing temporary housing, as hinted at by one review mentioning a family staying "for a while."
Unadvertised Specials: Occasionally, the motel may have unadvertised specials that can only be obtained by calling directly and inquiring about the best possible rate for specific dates or circumstances.
Given the nature of the motel and the varied customer experiences regarding reservations and front desk consistency, prospective guests interested in potential offers are best advised to:
Call the Congress Inn directly at (201) 440-1200 and speak with the front desk. Inquire explicitly about the best available rate for your specific dates and length of stay.
Be prepared for potential inconsistencies in information, as suggested by customer feedback about changing rules regarding reservations.
For extended stays, clearly communicate your intended duration to see if any discounted weekly or monthly rates are applicable.
The primary "promotion" of the Congress Inn is its availability as a budget-friendly lodging option directly on a major highway, catering to immediate accommodation needs in the South Hackensack area.
For inquiries, reservations, or any other needs related to the Congress Inn, direct contact with the motel's front desk is the primary method of communication. The motel provides clear phone numbers for guests to reach them.

The Congress Inn in South Hackensack, New Jersey, is a lodging option that may be suitable for certain locals, particularly those seeking a budget-conscious stay with direct access to a major highway. Its suitability largely depends on individual priorities for accommodation and an understanding of its operational style.
For New Jersey locals who need very basic, no-frills lodging for short-term stays, transit, or specific work-related needs in the immediate South Hackensack area, the Congress Inn offers a fundamental solution. Its location directly on US-46 is a key advantage for drivers, providing straightforward access to regional routes and nearby commercial zones. This can be convenient for individuals commuting for work, needing a quick overnight stop, or those who prioritize ease of access to major roads over extensive amenities.
The motel's probable affordability, typical of such establishments, can also be a significant draw for locals on a strict budget. For those requiring temporary housing or experiencing unforeseen circumstances, as hinted by one review, a place offering basic accommodation at a lower price point can be a crucial resource. The mention of a "cheap to go breakfast" suggests a minimal convenience that might appeal to those looking for a quick start to their day without additional costs.
However, it is vital for locals considering the Congress Inn to manage their expectations, taking into account some of the critical feedback from previous guests. Concerns regarding inconsistencies in front desk information, and a notably rigid or intrusive approach to housekeeping, as described in some reviews, indicate that the motel's operational style may not align with everyone's preferences for privacy and flexibility. Guests who value high levels of customer service, consistent policy application, and a less restrictive housekeeping schedule might find these aspects challenging.
In conclusion, the Congress Inn serves a specific niche in the South Hackensack lodging market. It is most suitable for New Jersey locals who prioritize an extremely accessible location directly on a major highway and a highly affordable price point for basic accommodation. For travelers who are aware of and willing to navigate its particular operational quirks, it can fulfill a fundamental need for temporary lodging in the region. For all other locals, it is recommended to fully understand the type of experience offered before booking to ensure it aligns with their expectations for a motel stay.

Congress Inn Reviews
Service is OK, but rules change depending on who is at front desk, or if they are on top of their game. One says No reservations taken. Another says reservations only taken in person, not over phone. Show up in person from 1.5 hrs away to make reservation and get told at front desk, "NO reservations taken at all".Seems to be tainted with Cerebral Dysentery.
Mar 05, 2025 · Last HoldoutThis place sucks so bad, I remember how the housekeepers here are so aggressive and one time I had to take a business call and didn't want the housekeeper to come in and closed the door & then it turned out that the entire evil staff conspired to lie to me and claim that they can't have me there anymore because there are people coming from Texas, well the housekeeper turned on them and said that the owner didn't want me to be there because he saw me slam the door, yeah I did because every single day it was the same thing they would come to the room demanding to get in the room to clean, it is not even optional there. It is situated like a prison! The housekeepers are prioritized more than any other hotel and motel, which is ridiculous and have the power to get someone kicked out at anytime that doesn't comply. The horizon inn that used to be across the street was way better but now congress inn has double the workload, so as you can imagine I am sure the housekeepers are even worst! The entire front desk staff still kept up the lie when I told them the jig was up, so they are super unethical and disloyal. My family was homeless at the time so we had stayed there for a while and endured the cheap to go breakfast and no matter how much we spent, they were able to throw us out at the drop of a hat when they are the ones that started everything!
Oct 20, 2024 · Name AnonymousGreat hotel we are on vacation 😎 and this was the best hotel very clean service was great I would definitely come back here
Mar 31, 2025 · Angela RedstoneThis is a no go. Been here and the spot down the block both times my girl left itching. Just do yourself the favor spend the extra 20 bucks and go somewhere legit.
Feb 22, 2025 · Mohamed AbouelkheirIf I could, I would rate it zero star. I stayed here for two weeks last year, and I didn't find it as bad. I asked several times not to be bothered, but even with the sign, they kept knocking at the door. People working here have no respect. Also, the rooms are in very bad condition, everything is falling apart, even the sheets.
