Knights Inn South Hackensack Introduce
The Knights Inn South Hackensack is a motel located in South Hackensack, New Jersey, providing a basic lodging option for travelers in the area. As a motel, it typically caters to guests seeking fundamental accommodation for short stays, often those traveling by car and prioritizing convenience to major roadways.
Situated in Bergen County, the Knights Inn is positioned within a diverse landscape of lodging options in Northern New Jersey. It aims to offer essential comforts and a place to rest for individuals and families. Understanding the type of establishment and its general offerings is important for prospective guests to align their expectations with the services provided.
The Knights Inn South Hackensack is strategically located at 410 US-46, South Hackensack, NJ 07606, USA. This address places it directly on U.S. Route 46, a significant highway that traverses Northern New Jersey. This roadside position is a key aspect of its accessibility, making it highly convenient for travelers utilizing this major thoroughfare.
Being on US-46 provides direct access for those driving. The motel is well-connected to other major highways in the region, including Route 17, Interstate 80, and the New Jersey Turnpike. This network of roads facilitates relatively easy travel to various points of interest across Northern New Jersey, such as the Meadowlands Sports Complex (home to MetLife Stadium), and the American Dream entertainment and shopping complex, which are within a manageable driving distance. For guests planning to visit New York City, access via the George Washington Bridge or Lincoln Tunnel is feasible, depending on traffic conditions.
The Knights Inn typically offers on-site parking for its guests, a standard and crucial amenity for a motel of its kind, providing convenience and direct access to guest rooms for those traveling with vehicles. While public transportation options might require some walking to reach nearest bus stops along US-46, the primary mode of transportation for most guests will be by private vehicle, due to its highway-frontage location and the nature of motel lodging. The ease of ingress and egress from the highway is a distinct advantage for travelers choosing this location.
As a motel, the Knights Inn South Hackensack primarily offers basic lodging services designed to provide a place for rest and essential amenities for travelers. Based on the nature of such establishments, core services generally include:
Room Accommodation: The fundamental service is providing guest rooms for overnight stays. These rooms are equipped with standard features such as a bed and a private bathroom, catering to basic accommodation needs.
Front Desk Service: A front desk is available to handle check-ins, check-outs, and guest inquiries. Customer feedback indicates that the front desk staff may be polite and present, though further details about consistency in service are not readily available beyond initial politeness.
Parking: On-site parking is typically available for guests, offering convenience for those traveling with their own vehicles and direct access to the motel units.
Housekeeping: Housekeeping services are generally provided for room cleaning and linen changes. However, one review explicitly mentions that bed sheets were changed only once during a week-long stay, which suggests potential variations in the frequency or thoroughness of this service. Guests should be aware that daily comprehensive cleaning might not be standard or consistent.
Air Conditioning: Rooms are equipped with air conditioning units. However, a review mentions that the air conditioning can be "loud to the point where I couldn’t sleep," indicating potential issues with noise levels from these units.
In-Room Appliances: Rooms may feature basic appliances such as a refrigerator. A review mentions that the "fridge was turning itself off whenever," suggesting potential operational issues with in-room appliances.
The Knights Inn South Hackensack has several features that are central to its identity as a motel, though some have been subject to significant negative feedback from guests. Understanding these aspects is crucial for setting appropriate expectations.
Highway-Side Location: Its prime location directly on US-46 is a key functional feature, providing highly convenient access for motorists. This makes it an easy stop for those needing immediate lodging while traveling through or working in the area.
Budget-Friendly Accommodation: As a motel, the Knights Inn is typically positioned as a more economical lodging option compared to full-service hotels. This affordability is a main draw for guests seeking minimal expenses for their stay.
Hourly Rate Availability: One review explicitly mentions that "This motel has an hourly rate (iykyk)." This indicates that the motel caters to very short-term stays, a feature specific to certain types of motels, which might appeal to a particular segment of travelers seeking flexible, brief room access.
On-site Parking: Direct access to on-site parking is a standard and convenient feature for guests traveling by car, allowing them to park close to their room door.
However, it is imperative to address the significant negative feedback regarding the condition and safety of the premises, as these are critical "features" highlighted by customer reviews, albeit as severe drawbacks:
Cleanliness Concerns: Multiple reviews heavily emphasize severe issues with cleanliness. Descriptions include "dirty or stained" sheets, beds, and mattresses; "filthy" rooms and drawers; carpets feeling like "someone spilled glue with filth all over it"; and walls appearing "not to have been wiped down in decades."
Pest Issues: One review explicitly mentions "Cockroaches come out at night and play Dora the explorer." This indicates a significant pest problem, which is a major concern for guest comfort and hygiene.
Maintenance Problems: Issues such as a "loud" and rattling air conditioner, a refrigerator "turning itself off whenever," and a door that "wouldn’t close all the way" point to significant maintenance deficiencies that impact guest comfort and security.
Odor and Atmosphere: Reviews describe the rooms as smelling bad, with one particularly strong comment comparing the smell to a "crack house." This suggests an unpleasant and potentially unsafe atmosphere.
Safety and Security Concerns: Beyond maintenance, a review also raises serious concerns about safety and privacy, including the suggestion of "cameras hidden in the rooms, possibly in the bathroom fans and the fake looking smoke detectors." While stated as unconfirmed personal opinion, such a comment indicates a deep level of discomfort and suspicion from a guest.
Given that Knights Inn is a brand within the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts portfolio, the Knights Inn South Hackensack would typically participate in standard Wyndham promotions and offers. However, the nature and focus of these promotions might be more aligned with the budget-friendly segment of the market. It is important to note that specific, highly localized deals might not always be publicly advertised for individual motels of this type, especially given the nature of some customer feedback.
Wyndham Rewards Program: The hotel is generally part of the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program. Members can earn points on their stays, which can then be redeemed for free nights at any Wyndham property. Members also often receive exclusive member-only rates, offering a percentage off standard rates.
Advance Purchase Discounts: Guests who book and prepay for their stay well in advance might be eligible for discounted "advance purchase" rates. These rates are usually non-refundable but can offer savings for those with firm travel plans.
Seasonal Promotions: Wyndham may offer various system-wide or regional promotions throughout the year. These could include percentage-off deals, bonus points offers, or discounts for longer stays. Such promotions are typically found on the main Wyndham Hotels & Resorts website.
AAA/AARP/Government/Military Rates: Similar to most hotel chains, the Knights Inn South Hackensack is likely to offer discounted rates for members of AAA and AARP, as well as for government employees and active or retired military personnel. These provide consistent savings for eligible travelers.
Children Stay Free Policy: Many budget-friendly hotels and motels allow children (often up to a certain age) to stay free when occupying the parent or guardian's room and using existing bedding. This is a common family-friendly "offer."

The Knights Inn South Hackensack presents a complex suitability for locals in New Jersey, heavily dependent on individual needs, expectations, and tolerance for potential challenges. While some may find it a viable option for specific, very limited purposes, comprehensive local suitability is highly questionable given the provided public feedback.
From a purely functional standpoint, for New Jersey locals requiring a very brief, perhaps hourly-rate stay or a highly economical overnight option directly on a major highway (US-46), its location offers convenience for immediate roadside access. For those passing through or in extremely urgent situations where basic shelter is the sole priority and other options are unavailable or out of budget, it might serve a rudimentary purpose.
However, it is crucial for any local considering this motel to be fully aware of the overwhelmingly negative customer reviews. These reviews highlight severe and consistent issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and potentially safety/security. Descriptions of "filthy" rooms, "stained" bedding and mattresses, "cockroaches," loud and malfunctioning air conditioning, and a door that doesn't close securely paint a picture that would make it unsuitable for most standard leisure or business stays. The concerns about hygiene and pest control are particularly alarming and would disqualify it as a suitable choice for families, or anyone prioritizing a clean and comfortable environment.
The mention of an "hourly rate" implicitly suggests the primary clientele and purpose of the establishment, which may not align with the needs or expectations of a typical local family or business traveler seeking a comfortable, reputable hotel. Furthermore, the expressed concerns about potential hidden cameras, even if unconfirmed, create a significant apprehension about privacy and safety that no traveler should have to endure.
In conclusion, while the Knights Inn South Hackensack exists as a lodging option, its suitability for the general New Jersey local is severely limited. For the vast majority, seeking a safe, clean, and comfortable place to stay, the provided information strongly suggests this motel would be an unsuitable choice. It might only be considered by a very specific segment of the local population for highly transient, short-term needs where budget is the absolute sole determining factor and other, more reputable options are entirely unavailable or unaffordable.

Knights Inn South Hackensack Reviews
To start off,This motel has an hourly rate (iykyk)Sheets, beds, mattresses and pretty much everything in the room was either dirty or stained. The air conditioning was loud to the point where I couldn’t sleep. It was rattling like it was going to explode. Obviously it smelled in the room. The carpet felt like someone spilled glue with filth all over it. Bed sheets had cigarette burns. Cockroaches come out at night and play Dora the explorer around bags and any food on the table (told the guy at the front desk about the cockroaches, he made a “omg no way!” Face, and nothing was done about it). The fridge was turning itself off whenever. The door wouldn’t close all the way, so whenever there was wind - it would sound like someone’s banging on it trying to get in. In a weeks stay, bedsheets we’re changed once.
Jun 08, 2024 · Comrade QbaIf I could give them negative stars I would. In all my years on this planet and all my adult life, I have NEVER been to a worse place. The front desk clerk was polite but that's the ONLY good thing. The rooms are FILTHY, the carpets looks as if they have never heard of a vacuum cleaner. The walls appear to not have been wiped down in decades. The mattresses are all stained horribly, the drawers are filthy, the rooms smell like a crack house (my apologies to crack houses). This whole place should be torn down and made into a parking lot or the rooms made free to the homeless. I don't normally leave bad reviews but these were the nicest things I could say about this place. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE PLEASE. This is just my personal opinion because I wasn't able to fully confirm this, but, I believe that there might be cameras hidden in the rooms, possibly in the bathroom fans and the fake looking smoke detectors....I could be wrong about it but I wouldn't be surprised if I'm right.
May 20, 2023 · Big LouDO NOT EVER STAY HERE. There was cocaine in my hotel room drawer and blood on the wall and we went to get a refund and there was a huge problem. We didn’t get one apology from the front desk guy and he didn’t even acknowledge my family and I. Luckily there were no kids with us I never seen anything like it. Then after speaking and struggling to get an agreement on getting a refund he wouldn’t give us proof of the refund. The refund never came into our account then the hotel claimed they never said they will give us one. Ridiculous. Save your time and money you will be better off sleeping in a bus station!
Apr 06, 2024 · Athena KonstantarosI'm editing my review now that I have the attention of the hotel administrator or at least someone who I would assume would have the ability to relay the concerns thank you so much for the accommodations and your hospitality and the options that you provided for myself and my guests but I would like to perceive was asking a question in the capacity that you stand in our society as a proprietor having the ability to shelter individuals at what capacity does your location fully operate and if there is at least 25% that maybe you can donate to the homeless community I'm certain you'd received some type of Grant something that would allow you to even upgrade your facility by providing such a service registering with your local chamber of commerce as a not just a corporation but perhaps a benefits corporation or maybe opening a 501c and then donating that 25% of the hotel to individuals who are in need of shelter long-term or short-term probably are thinking it's a corporate thing but you are an ownership of a franchise which could possibly stimulate the actions across the entire corporation to join suit there's my review update thank you
May 17, 2024 · Palace Entertainment Network Group, Ltd (PENGROUPLTD)Everybody that works there was incredibly rude. I paid $104 to stay there one night we asked for more towels because they only gave us two and there was four girls staying in the room and we asked for extra towels. The housekeeper woman gave us two more towels, walked into a hotel room without asking. She’s open it with her own key there were already two towels in there are 2 towels in there we’re which were filthy I was like 2+2 is four.. we had to ask the man in the lobby for different times for somebody to come up and fix the AC and the AC was absolutely filthy. There were so much dust and mold in that room.
