Element New York Times Square West Reviews
Stayed here in 2013 and nothing, especially with the lifts, seems to have changed. In fact it seems to have gotten worse.2/3 lifts working but often both IS ( in service) by staff at the same time, so would struggle to get up or down to our 39th floor room.Didn't bother with breakfast because of the hassle with the lifts.A lot of reception staff not overly friendly and mumbled when they did speak.Didn't feel like there was much security and anyone could just walk into the hotel.Bed was only made once in the 8 days we were there. Cleaner came at 630pm one evening when we were there having our dinner. Way too late to be cleaning.Basics in the room weren't there - kettle, dinner plates. Reception didn't even know if we should have dinner plates or how many we should have!?TV had other peoples name on it welcoming them all week.Good side - shower was decent, big fridge, air con was great and a god send.
May 09, 2025 · S BRoom is a great size and the staff a super helpful and friendly. It is a terrible breakfast and not worth paying for. We opted after the second breakfast to go out for breakfast every day - even though we had paid to had it included. It was that bad.Excellent location and felt safe walking at night to and from the subway. One lift was broken which made it much slower to get down, but during peak times they had staff helping with the lifts to speed the process up slightly. Would stay here again but would definitely not pay for the breakfast.
May 08, 2025 · Lauren KlingbergI enjoyed my time here with Element. The breakfast is really good, clean spacious rooms and great hospitality. I Like that the rooms have hard surface floors and not carpet higher standard for cleanliness. Bathrooms are upgraded and tons more room than some other places we have stayed here. One out of three elevators is being renovated so prepare or plan for those time adjustments. I’d recommend them! Would definitely stay here again.
Mar 18, 2025 · Amy HAbsolutely terrible stay and horrible Customer Service. There was one working elevator during our stay. We were notified by email the day of arrival, which was too late to switch our hotel. We would wait 30-40minutes each day to get to our room on 14th floor, after very long days sightseeing. Because of the wait, sometimes we had to climb 14 flights of stairs (hurt my hip), after very long days out. The hotel wasnt offering any compensation for this MAJOR inconveniece, that robbed us of sleeping time, bc we had to wake up extra early in the morning to account for the delay and didnt get back to our room until very late at night. This was my kids first trip to NYC and it completely dampened our experience. After contacting Marriott Bonvoy once I was home with detailed specifics, they offered to comp my room entirely and provide written follow up within 14 days of how they were correcting all the issues we face. NEVER heard from them again, after i followed up THREE times. They only reimbursed half of my stay, even though i have it in writing they would refund the entire stay. Ive contacted the hotel directly, Marriott customer service and Bonvoy, and none of them care to follow through as promised, much less respond back to me. Needless to stay, I have cancelled several stays with Marriott this summer, as I'm extremely disappointed in how this has been handled. It's obvious Marriott doesnt care abt their customers. Do yourself a favor, dont stay at this hotel. The breakfast was also terrible, we had to get a quick bite at McDonalds a few blocks away everyday. Book somewhere else.
May 12, 2025 · Jennifer LeandraLike other recent reviews have stated, the primary issue with this hotel is that of three elevators, only two are working, and they only allow for a very small capacity. This hotel has 40 floors, so you can potentially wait for a long period of time as the elevator moves between floors and is already full by the time it reaches you, wasting a huge amount of your time. My wife and I were on the 24th floor, and ended up taking the stairs down and back up. Fortunately, the hotel is quite narrow, so the flights of stairs are not particularly large, but it's still a workout and I would not recommend it if you require accessibility or have kids. Especially if you plan to be doing a lot of walking in the city.Another issue is that our room along with another guests' at the time were told that the rooms we reserved were sold out, so the hotel booked different room/bed types without notifying any parties. While this didn't bother us, the other guest was very upset about it, so keep that in mind.Other than that, the hotel was pretty good. The room we received was of decent size considering NYC, and it even had a kitchenette which included a full-sized refrigerator, microwave, mini-dishwasher, and even a two burner cooktop. The beds/pillows were fine, AC worked great, but the shower and bathroom sink leaked, though at least didn't cause any issues. As for the continental breakfast, they had a reasonable selection, and it wasn't bad at all. The location is quite good as well, since it's an easy walk to most places in and around the Times Square area.
