What truly sets Hudson Park & Beach apart as a local favorite? Its distinctive features and highlights create a memorable experience for every visitor:
Dual Park and Beach Experience: Unlike many destinations that are solely a park or a beach, Hudson Park offers the best of both worlds. This allows for diverse activities within one location, from sandy toes to shaded strolls.
Stunning Waterfront Views: Perched on the Long Island Sound, the park provides breathtaking panoramic views of the water, making it a perfect spot for photography, contemplation, or simply enjoying the natural beauty. Reviewers consistently highlight the "great views" and opportunities to "enjoy the scenery."
Tranquil Atmosphere: Despite its popularity, the park maintains a "tranquil" and "peaceful" ambiance, as noted by visitors. It's a true "retreat for a little quiet time," allowing for genuine relaxation.
Family-Friendly Amenities: The presence of a dedicated children's playground and ample space for family picnics makes Hudson Park & Beach an ideal destination for families with children, ensuring enjoyment for all ages.
Recreational Versatility: From fishing and leisurely beach sitting to vigorous running and potential boat rides, the park caters to a wide range of recreational pursuits, ensuring there's something for everyone.
Community Hub: With its bandshell and open spaces, Hudson Park often hosts community events and gatherings, fostering a sense of belonging and vibrancy among New Rochelle residents.
Historic Significance: As one of the oldest municipal parks on Long Island Sound, Hudson Park has a rich history, featuring elements like a monument to early Huguenot settlers and restored pavilions that once belonged to John Starin's Glen Island resort.
ADA Accessible: The park is noted as ADA accessible, ensuring that individuals with disabilities can also enjoy its facilities and natural beauty.
Access to Hudson Park & Beach, particularly during the peak season, involves certain fees. However, the City of New Rochelle offers benefits that act as "promotions" for local residents:
Park Passport: New Rochelle residents can purchase an annual "Park Passport." This photo identification card grants free parking at Hudson Park and other city parks from Memorial Day weekend through Columbus Day. For adult residents (ages 16-61), the Park Passport is $40. Senior residents (ages 62 and up) can get a 5-year valid passport for $50. There's also a 10% discount for all veterans.
Daily Parking Fees: For non-Park Passport holders, daily parking fees are in effect. For residents, this is typically $5, while non-residents pay $10. While this is a fee, the review stating "There is 10 dollars admission, but it is worth every dollar to go there" suggests that even without a passport, the value provided by the park is highly appreciated.
Fishing Permit: For those planning to fish, a New Rochelle Fishing Permit is required. Resident Adult Fishing Permits (ages 16-61) cost $45. There's also a "Resident Adult Fishing Permit Plus" for $65, which covers all parking fees, effectively combining two services at a potentially promotional rate.
Off-Season Access: During the fall and winter months, access to the park (and often parking) may be free for all, providing a seasonal "promotion" to enjoy the natural beauty without additional cost.
It is always advisable to check the official City of New Rochelle Parks & Recreation website or contact them directly for the most current information on fees, permits, and any specific events or promotions that might be running.

May 25, 2024 · among us GamerEasily one of my favorite parks in NYC. It's a small park but there's kayaking, boating, a park for the kids, an amphitheater, a small beach, and a sun deck here and there's an open field here too. I love how quiet it is here it's great if you just want to clear your head without all of the noise from the city. This park is like an hour or two away from Manhattan but it's worth checking out at least once
