For New Yorkers, finding a reliable and conveniently located hotel in Brooklyn, especially one that offers a good balance of comfort and value, is a true asset. The La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Brooklyn Downtown, situated at 533 3rd Avenue, emerges as a strong contender for those looking to explore the borough or host out-of-town guests. This hotel provides a straightforward and often pleasant stay, offering the essential amenities needed for a comfortable base while you immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of New York City.
Located in an area that reminds some visitors of a "more run down" Greenwich Village but is ultimately "doable if you need to stay somewhere and don't know where else to go," the hotel offers a pragmatic solution for accommodation. Its strategic position near the desirable Park Slope neighborhood is a significant draw, providing easy access to a wealth of diverse eateries, shops, and green spaces. While it might not be a luxury establishment, it aims to deliver a clean environment, comfortable rooms, and the fundamental conveniences that travelers expect.
The hotel's affiliation with the Wyndham brand means guests can often anticipate a certain standard of service and amenities, including their characteristic "standard breakfast bar fare," which is consistently noted as "good quality." This consistency, combined with amenities like complimentary breakfast and direct subway access, makes it a practical choice for both leisure and business travelers. For New Yorkers planning a staycation, or those welcoming visitors who want to experience authentic Brooklyn without the Manhattan price tag, La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Brooklyn Downtown offers a solid and accessible option. It's a place where functionality meets a friendly approach, ensuring a reliable stay in the heart of Brooklyn.

As one reviewer noted, the location is "essentially Park Slope which is a beautiful section of Brooklyn," highlighting its proximity to one of the borough's most desirable areas.
For New Yorkers relying on public transportation, the hotel boasts excellent accessibility. It is within comfortable walking distance to several subway stations, including the 4th Avenue-9th Street station, which serves the F, G, and R lines. Parking, while a common concern in New York City, is addressed at this hotel. Guests have found that "Parking was not an issue on Friday night/Saturday morning." While the hotel does offer "paid parking," which was described as "like the side of the hotel building so not much room to really speak of" and could get "seriously full" on busy nights, reviewers have noted success finding "a spot across the street." This indicates that while on-site paid parking exists and can be tight, alternative street parking options might be available nearby, offering flexibility for guests arriving by car. The hotel's position also offers a "good view of the (Brooklyn) bridge near the hotel," adding a touch of classic New York charm.

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Brooklyn Downtown Reviews
We were looking for a hotel that was close to my parents' place near Bay Parkway/ Coney Island and figured that this would do with the 30+ minute drive. The room turned out o.k., clean but tiny but there was a smell of weed everywhere in the hallway and in the hotel lobby itself. There were also what looked like young teenage guests running around too at the time. Parking was not an issue on Friday night/Saturday morning. However, it became a serious one on Saturday night, with even the paid parking at the hotel, being seriously full. Mind you, that parking lot was like the side of the hotel building so not much room to really speak of. Area reminds me a bit like Greenwich Village but albeit more run down but doable if you need to stay somewhere and don't know where else to go. It's not too shabby with a good view of the (Brooklyn) bridge near the hotel. Second, older guy at the front desk, who checked us out of the hotel, was super friendly and seemed more people-friendly than the first, young guy.
May 30, 2025 · Joyce YI only give it 4 stars because I'm considering my wife's experience as well. It was pretty much 5 stars for me. You can tell it used to be an old apt building but that was a part of the charm for me. Parking is not much of a deal. Never been to a hotel where you had to pay for parking. Just like the other Wyndham property we stayed at in midtown Manhattan, you had to get in where you fit in. Good thing we found a spot across the street, otherwise we could see our car from our window upon paying for parking. That wasn't about to happen. Standard breakfast bar fare for Wyndham properties which is always good quality. Very clean facilities though there was a stain on one lobby couch. Pleasant staff. Our room was on the first floor right across from the elevator and cafe which is convenient to me but for my wife who is a light sleeper, she heard every conversation and noise from the elevator to people passing by. Perhaps soundproof those first floor rooms as a consideration? Mattress was as always firm yet plush. Didn't care for what seemed like a limitation on TV viewing options if you use streaming platforms but that was minor. The bathroom was kinda nifty. I thought it was a closet but that was just the choice of doors. First time I saw large pumps of Dove products in the shower instead of the free travel sizes on the counter. Do that it in ALL your properties please! It rocks and I now have a new favorite soap scent. Haven't used Dove since childhood. The location is essentially Park Slope which is a beautiful section of Brooklyn. Walking distance to the subway and a variety of eateries including food trucks. I would definitely stay there again, just in a quieter corner or floor of the building for my wife.
Dec 24, 2024 · Bobby DawkinsA large hold is placed on your credit/debit card even if you've already paid for your room prior to checking in. And there is a sign warning that it may take up to 14 business day to remove the hold afterwards! Room is fine, housekeeping friendly. Breakfast just OK for the room price.
May 09, 2025 · Dominic BordelonThis place is great place to stay in Brooklyn,NY for a quick lay down , shower etc . It’s clean , like everything was clean . Which is why it gets 5 stars for me . It’s not 5 stars as far looks but again it’s still some where you can lay your head and feel comfortable for a for a few days . And they have breakfast
May 27, 2025 · Danaejha GeddesThis is my first ever one star review.I stayed here for four nights, leading group of 34 Uni students. We'd booked 17 twins, and one single room.Checkin was incredibly slow, with one person taking about 5-7 mins to check in each room (For context, our previous hotel had all the keys ready to go without this being requested). In a tiny Lobby, this meant most of our party were kept on the street. The Check in details had us staying for 3 nights, despite the fact we'd booked (and already paid) for 4.It became quickly clear that the hotel didn't have 17 twin rooms! So two students had to share a bed. The front desk appeared to be helpful, but nothing changed for our stay despite daily requests. Four days later, I'm still awaiting a response to my email to the group bookings manager. This is really poor.Shower pressure was pretty bleak. I've had more water pressure from being in the rain.Breakfast is small and insufficient in every way. The breakfast rooms can seat 20 at max leading to people sitting on the floor in the hallway. Fruit ran out every morning. Eggs had clearly never seen a chicken. The cutlery may as well have been made from elastic. On the plus side, the beds were comfy, clean, and the location suited us fine. That's worth a star, right?
