The park's history is as rich as its natural beauty. Originally the farm property of David and Ann LaTourette, established in 1830, it grew to become one of Staten Island’s top-producing family-run farms. In 1928, the LaTourette family sold their land to the City of New York, and it was officially transferred to NYC Parks in 1955. It received its New York City Landmark designation in 1973. While the original farmhouse is no longer standing, the LaTourette’s 1870 mansion now serves as the charming clubhouse for the park's golf course, adding a touch of historical character to the landscape. This blend of historical significance and natural preservation makes Latourette Park a unique and cherished part of Staten Island’s heritage.

Jun 13, 2023 · Ratul HossainThis park is huge with so many trails! It isn't manicured like Central or Prospect Parks, but it has a lot of space to walk and enjoy nature. They also have a Nature Center with parking so you can get an idea of the how the park is set up and there are a lot of educational aspects that will show you the importance of the park. You can start any of the trails from various spots around the park.
