Memorial Park Introduce
Memorial Park, located at 11 Dows Ln, Irvington, NY 10533, USA, stands as a cornerstone of recreation and community life in the charming Village of Irvington. As a prominent "Scenic Spot" within the local landscape, it distinguishes itself not only through its well-maintained green spaces but also through a comprehensive suite of recreational facilities and services that cater to all ages and interests. This park is a testament to Irvington's commitment to providing quality outdoor experiences for its residents.
Memorial Park is thoughtfully divided into two distinct sections, each offering unique recreational opportunities. The lower park, often referred to as "Station Road," is designed with younger visitors and passive recreation in mind. It features a modern playground unit, a refreshing spray pool that operates seasonally, and picnic tables, creating an ideal setting for family outings and casual relaxation. This section provides a vibrant and engaging environment for children to play and families to gather. The upper park, known simply as "Memorial," caters more to sports enthusiasts with its expansive fields and courts.
The park benefits from its strategic location, being "right off the Old Croton Trail." This historic linear park, which stretches for miles, provides a picturesque backdrop and easy access for walkers, runners, and cyclists. The integration with the Old Croton Aqueduct State Park means that visitors to Memorial Park can seamlessly extend their outdoor activities onto one of the longest linear parks in the world, winding through urban centers and small communities, including the full north-south length of the Village of Irvington. The general environment of Memorial Park is characterized by well-maintained grounds, offering a fresh and clean atmosphere. While some visitor reviews mention occasional maintenance concerns regarding restrooms, the overall impression is of a valued and actively utilized community space. The presence of a "fresh, clean water fountain near trail entrance" further enhances the comfort for park users.
Memorial Park offers a robust set of services and amenities designed to promote active living and community engagement. For sports lovers, the upper park boasts "two ball fields" and "one multi-use field," providing ample space for baseball, soccer, and other field sports. These fields are well-maintained and serve as central venues for youth sports leagues and community games. The park also features "three illuminated tennis courts," allowing for extended play into the evening hours during the season. These courts are popular, and reservations are online-only via irvingtonrec.skedda.com, indicating a structured approach to managing demand and ensuring fair access. The Irvington Recreation Department reserves the right to utilize the courts for tennis lessons, further enhancing the park's service offerings.
For families with children, the lower park's "playground unit" and "spray pool" are significant attractions, especially during warm weather. The spray pool provides a safe and fun way for children to cool off. Picnic tables are available for gatherings. While one review mentioned not seeing rest facilities or that bathrooms might be "low quality," the official Village of Irvington website indicates the presence of facilities, implying that some form of comfort stations exists within the park. The park is equipped with a "Fitness Par Course," offering opportunities for outdoor exercise beyond traditional sports. The Village of Irvington Recreation & Parks Department manages the park and its facilities, and they can be contacted at (914) 591-7736 for permits and more information regarding park use and programs.
It is important to note that, as a rule, "no pets are allowed within park areas other than service dogs" at Memorial Park, and "glass bottles are prohibited." The park is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., providing extensive hours for public enjoyment.
One of Memorial Park's key features is its versatility. It serves as a central hub for a wide range of recreational activities, from organized team sports to individual fitness pursuits and family leisure. The presence of "well maintained ball field" and illuminated tennis courts makes it a prime location for athletic endeavors. The unique combination of a playground and a seasonal spray pool sets it apart as a highly desirable destination for families with young children during the summer months.
The park's direct connection to the Old Croton Trail is a significant highlight, offering seamless access to a broader network of walking and biking paths. This integration allows park visitors to easily explore beyond the immediate boundaries of Memorial Park, providing opportunities for longer excursions and diverse outdoor experiences. The mention of a "fake boulder" by a reviewer adds a playful and intriguing element to the park, encouraging visitors to explore and discover its hidden quirks.

Memorial Park Reviews
Nice, well maintained ball field right off the Old Croton Trail. Didn't see rest facilities but there was a building at one end where there might be. Fresh, clean water fountain near trail entrance. See if you can spot the fake boulder.
Nov 10, 2019 · Casa DeSolaA very nice place in general, bring your kids or anyone to have a fun time with tennis, soccer, baseball, or even a little game of catch! A little downside is that you are not allowed to bring pets and that the place is not maintained that often lay therefore the bathrooms are kind of low quality
