For those of us living in or visiting the electric heart of New York City, finding a hotel that perfectly balances prime location with a comfortable and efficient stay can be a real game-changer. The Motto by Hilton New York City Times Square, located at 150 A W 48th St, presents itself as an intriguing option that champions smart design and a vibrant atmosphere. While some reviews note the smaller room sizes, the general sentiment is that these are "perfect size" for those who plan to spend most of their time exploring the city's myriad attractions. What truly seems to set Motto by Hilton apart, as highlighted by delighted guests, is its dedicated front desk staff and a commitment to cleanliness and quietude—qualities that are exceptionally valuable in such a high-energy district. This combination makes it a strong contender for anyone, from first-time visitors to seasoned New Yorkers on a staycation, seeking a convenient and contemporary base for their urban adventures.

Motto by Hilton New York City Times Square Reviews
I had the absolute best time during my first time in New York! My friend and I were extremely pleased with Motto. We had read the reviews and expected small rooms, but we knew we wouldn't be in our rooms much during our stay, so it didn't matter. It was the perfect size. We were given connecting rooms before we even asked. The front desk staff were amazing! Joel Rodriguez was particularly very helpful and pleasant while assisting us with transportation to the airport. The hotel is in the perfect location in Times Square. We had tickets to see Hamilton and didn't realize that we were literally around the corner from the theatre. Everything we wanted was a block or two away. We had a convenient store, ATM, tattoo shop, and psychic right across the street. The elevator system was different, but pretty cool. We also appreciated the daily housekeeping service. The hotel was quiet and clean. I couldn't even hear my friend in her room right next to me unless our doors were opened. No WiFi issues and great TV programming. We've already decided to stay here the next time we travel to NY.
May 29, 2025 · Natosha WordOverall, we found the room was a decent size for the price and the location was quite good indeed. However, we are quite disappointed in the customer service. One morning at 4:30 AM, we experienced a series of fire alarms, followed by announcements made by some station director that it was a false alarm, which were then followed by the hotel staffs announcement in English and Spanish explaining the false alarm. The whole ordeal lasted for about 10 minutes. After we finally managed to fall back asleep, we were woken up by yet another series of alarms at 5:30 AM, which again was announced to be false. Then, just past 6 AM, there was another series of alarms which turned out to be false alarms. These false fire alarms made our stay restless, and negatively disrupted our sleep and itinerary for the rest of the day. The first set of false alarms, while frightening and unpleasant, were somewhat understandable. However, it was unacceptable for these issues to persist and repeat two more times in the early morning while we are trying to sleep after the first set of alarms. When we reached out to the hotel with the email provided by the front desk we didn't receive any response. Later, we tried to reach out to the Hilton Guest Assistance and were told after multiple tries that since we booked through a Third Party booking site, there was nothing they could do.I fail to see how booking through a Third Party relates to the issue described above as this wasn't an issue with the booking or the information provided to us through the site. This was a fundamental issue with the hotel not being able to sort out their fire alarm situation and them not being responsive.
May 26, 2025 · Garth SlaneyJust don’t. It’s only nice and a good value for now because it’s new. I arrived to a room that the AC didn’t work, and ended up having to sleep in an 80° humid room. I was offered a measly $60 of credit and a new room the next day. The rooms also have NO privacy, and I can hear every word from the neighboring rooms because there are always adjoining rooms on both sides. Including other guests showering, using the toilet, etc. you get the idea. The WiFi was also bad.My first room on this recent trip, the bed didn’t even face the TV. Which isn’t a big deal in a room if it has a desk. This is my experience after staying there on two separate occasions. I won’t be returning.
May 18, 2025 · Jensen HamblinThe bathroom door couldn’t close, so I had to shower with the door wide open. On top of that, the staff placed the hand wash and body wash incorrectly—body wash was placed by the sink, and hand wash was in the shower. The toilet room door also doesn’t open fully; I had to turn sideways just to get in. I paid nearly $300 for this room, and honestly, the experience so far feels like very poor value for the price. I just checked and saw that the Hampton Inn next door is only $170 tonight, and even your own Motto hotel's rate tonight is only $160. I don’t understand why booking in advance cost me so much more than a same-day booking. After I voiced my reasonable complaints, the front desk staff responded with an extremely dismissive and disrespectful attitude. When I mentioned that I expected some form of compensation, they even sarcastically asked, “For what? Because someone placed the hand wash and body wash in the wrong spots?” That kind of response is simply rude and unacceptable.I replied that the main issue was not just the misplaced items, but the fact that neither the bathroom door nor the toilet room door could close properly—which is why I was requesting compensation. The front desk then told me that someone would be coming to my room immediately to fix the doors, and that if the issue couldn't be resolved, I would receive compensation. However, I waited for over an hour, and no one showed up. More importantly, at this point, even if someone fixes it now, it doesn’t matter anymore—I’ve already taken my shower.
May 10, 2025 · Zixuan ChengThis was my son’s first visit to New York City, and I wanted to make it special for him. I chose this hotel for its prime location, and I’m glad I did. The front desk service was great—they accommodated us with an early check-in, which we really appreciated. The room was clean and comfortable, and they provided complimentary water and access to Citi Bikes, which was a nice bonus. The location couldn’t be better—everything we needed was close by.The only small downside was the window in our room—it was quite dirty and hard to see through. Maybe that’s typical in NYC, but I’d recommend giving it a clean for better view and next guestsI also tried a drink downstairs at the bar, and unfortunately, it was very mediocre. I was hoping for something a bit more creative and flavorful for $35. That said, for us, being in a prime location was the most important thing, so those details didn’t take away from our overall positive experience.
