New Dorp Park Introduce
Hello New Yorkers! Sometimes, the best places to relax and unwind are the ones right in our own neighborhoods, offering a perfect blend of convenience and natural beauty. On Staten Island, New Dorp Park stands out as one such community gem. More than just a patch of green, this park provides a wonderful array of amenities for locals seeking outdoor enjoyment, whether it's a peaceful day at the beach, a lively barbecue with friends and family, or a casual stroll along well-maintained paths.
New Dorp Park is a testament to the fact that you don't always need to venture far for a fantastic urban escape. It’s a versatile space where the community gathers, offering something for everyone. Reviews from visitors highlight its key attractions: the opportunity to "relax at the beach" and the convenience of a dedicated "barbecue area" with "free parking." This combination makes it a highly appealing spot for spontaneous visits or planned gatherings, setting it apart as a true local favorite.
While, like many dynamic urban parks, New Dorp Park might have "areas in the park intermittently over the next year" under various improvements, requiring you to "skirt the anchor fencing, orange hazard barriers, and wooden tree guards," these are temporary phases in the park's ongoing enhancement. The overall sentiment remains that it is a "cute little park" with "nice paths and grass," continuously striving to offer an even better experience for its users. The presence of both parkland and beach access within the same vicinity creates a unique environment for diverse recreational activities right here on Staten Island.
Location and Accessibility
New Dorp Park is conveniently situated on Staten Island, New York, with its approximate main address at 156 8 Street #2804, Staten Island, NY 10306, USA. This places it within the New Dorp neighborhood, a well-established residential area on the island. The park's location offers straightforward access for locals, being embedded within the community.
One of the significant advantages of New Dorp Park is its accessibility. For those driving, the availability of "free parking" is a major draw, eliminating the common urban challenge of finding a spot. This makes it particularly convenient for families with barbecue supplies or beach gear. For individuals relying on public transportation, the New Dorp area is well-served by various MTA bus routes, including local and express buses that travel along major arteries like Hylan Boulevard and New Dorp Lane. The New Dorp Staten Island Railway (SIR) station is also a short distance away, providing train access. This multi-modal accessibility ensures that New Dorp Park is an easy-to-reach destination for a wide range of Staten Islanders, whether they're coming from nearby blocks or other parts of the borough. Its integration into the neighborhood makes it a truly local park, ready for spontaneous visits.

Aug 12, 2019 · The Natures ViewAll well and good with nice paths and grass. Areas in the park intermittently over the next year, but overall if you skirt the anchor fencing, orange hazard barriers, and wooden tree guards, this is a cute little park.
Jun 06, 2018 · Travis WildeNew Dorp park is my stomping grounds since I was a teenager. Likes of fond memories of getting laid there 😀as a horney 16 year old.
Aug 22, 2023 · Jay See VS NabhanSome of these comments are fabrications! This is a dangerous overgrown lot which has a closed in chain link fence with no gate or entrance..rocks, broken glass, etc. Just trees and bushes..No Access! Are you kidding...and it's been this way for decades! Borough President Oddo? Where are you on this sir?
Nov 08, 2019 · Free BearerThis is not a park, this is a wooded area that is fenced off which you cannot enter. Don't waste your time.
