Oak Grand Motel Introduce
For New Jersey residents and travelers seeking extremely budget-conscious and functional lodging for very brief periods in Elizabeth, NJ, the Oak Grand Motel presents itself as an option solely for those prioritizing the lowest possible price point above all else. It's crucial for potential guests to set their expectations extremely low, as existing customer feedback indicates significant challenges with cleanliness, maintenance, and the overall environment.
The Oak Grand Motel is positioned to serve a specific market that requires only the most basic, no-frills accommodation. While reviews are highly critical, for some individuals, the motel's primary appeal lies in its extremely economical rates and its geographical presence in Elizabeth. Understanding that this establishment caters to a very specific, utilitarian need for shelter, rather than comfort or extensive services, is paramount before considering a stay here. It should be viewed as a last-resort option when strict financial limitations dictate choices.
The Oak Grand Motel is located at 216 Spring Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07201, USA. This address places it within the city of Elizabeth, a significant hub in Union County, New Jersey. Elizabeth is known for its proximity to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and its connections to major transportation arteries.
Spring Street is part of Elizabeth's urban landscape, and the motel's location implies accessibility via local road networks. For those traveling by car, Elizabeth offers connections to routes like I-95 (New Jersey Turnpike), Route 1&9, and Route 27, facilitating travel throughout the state and to surrounding areas. The motel's street-level presence would likely allow for direct access for vehicles.
Elizabeth also has public transportation options, primarily bus services operated by NJ Transit, which connect various parts of the city and provide links to Newark and New York City. Depending on the exact block of Spring Street, bus stops might be within walking distance, offering a basic level of public transit accessibility for those without a car. For guests arriving by air, the proximity to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is often a consideration for motels in the Elizabeth area, suggesting that it might be an option for very short, budget-driven layovers or quick stops. While the reviews do not detail specific parking facilities, motels typically offer on-site parking for guests, which would be a key accessibility feature for drivers.
Based on the highly negative and critical customer reviews, the Oak Grand Motel appears to offer an extremely limited and, in some cases, deficient set of services. The core service provided is simply a room for overnight stays, but the quality of this basic service is heavily questioned.
- Overnight Accommodations: The fundamental service is providing a room for sleeping. However, the quality of this accommodation is severely criticized, with mentions of "disgusting" bathrooms, "stained sheets," and unaddressed issues like non-draining bathtub water.
- Room Access: Guests are provided access to a room, though the overall environment (e.g., "people smoke inside," "burn the sink with cigarettes") suggests a lack of enforcement regarding motel policies.
The reviews explicitly mention severe deficiencies, implying a general lack of standard motel services:
- No Maintenance/Cleanliness: The descriptions of "disgusting bathrooms," "paper on the floor," "bathtub WATER didn't drain," and "stained sheets" strongly indicate a critical failure in basic housekeeping and maintenance services.
- Uncontrolled Environment: Remarks about "a lot drugs people.came to the hotel, 4 or 5 people.in one room" and "drogadictos alrededor adentro afuera todo el.tiempo" suggest a lack of security, guest monitoring, and general control over the motel environment.
- Lack of Customer Service: While not explicitly reviewed, the overall tone of dissatisfaction and the severe issues reported suggest a lack of proactive or effective customer service to address guest concerns.
Typical amenities like a front desk that provides helpful assistance, working in-room appliances (like hair dryers, TVs, coffee makers), Wi-Fi, or breakfast are not mentioned positively and are likely either absent or non-functional. For any potential guest, it's vital to assume that only the most absolute bare-bones offering of a room for sleeping, and potentially parking, is provided, with significant questions regarding the quality of even these fundamental services.
Given the overwhelmingly negative and critical customer reviews, identifying positive "features" or "highlights" for the Oak Grand Motel is extremely challenging. The provided feedback focuses almost exclusively on severe deficiencies and highly undesirable aspects of the property. However, from a purely factual and utilitarian perspective, and understanding that some individuals may consider certain basic functions to be "features" in desperate circumstances, one might infer:
- Location: The motel is physically located at 216 Spring Street in Elizabeth, NJ. For individuals needing a physical presence in this specific geographic area (e.g., for work, transit, or a very brief stop), its existence might be its only "feature."
- Extremely Low Price Point (Implied): While a reviewer states "AND IT IS NOT CHEAP," the overall tone of "slum spot" and "good for a short stay and a quickie" often points to an establishment that, despite a perception of being overpriced for its condition, may still be among the absolute lowest-cost options in the area. For those with severely limited budgets, this might be the primary (and only) "feature" that makes it a consideration.
- Basic Shelter: At its most fundamental, the motel offers a physical space for overnight shelter. This provides a roof over one's head, which for certain segments of the population, is the paramount need.
It is crucial to re-emphasize that these "features" are inferred only from the context of extremely basic accommodation. The reviews explicitly detail severe negative "features" that overshadow any functional positives:
- Disgusting Bathrooms: Frequent complaints about "disgusting" bathrooms, "paper on the floor," and non-draining bathtubs are major concerns.
- Unsanitary Conditions: Allegations of "stained sheets" and general lack of cleanliness ("DISGUSTING PLACE") are severe red flags.
- Signs of Misuse/Damage: Mentions of "people smoke inside and burn the sink with cigarettes" suggest damage and a lack of enforcement of basic rules.
- Unsafe/Uncontrolled Environment: Reports of "a lot drugs people.came to the hotel, 4 or 5 people.in one room" and "drogadictos alrededor adentro afuera todo el.tiempo" indicate a potentially unsafe and unmanaged environment, which is a critical negative feature for any guest.
- Lack of Comfort: The implication that it's only "good for a short stay and a quickie" speaks to a lack of comfort for any extended duration.
Given these overwhelming negatives, potential guests should not expect any typical hotel "highlights" such as comfort, amenities, or a pleasant atmosphere.
Given the extremely negative customer reviews and the apparent nature of the Oak Grand Motel as a very basic, budget-end establishment, it is highly improbable that it offers traditional "promotions or special offers" in the way that typical hotels or even mainstream motels do. Establishments facing such severe public feedback are generally not focused on marketing campaigns with discounts, loyalty programs, or attractive package deals. Their primary "offer" is typically their bare-minimum price.
If any form of "special offer" were to exist, it would most likely be implicitly tied to its presumed low cost:
- Extremely Low Baseline Rate: The main "promotion" is likely its absolute lowest possible nightly rate for basic shelter in the Elizabeth area. This would cater to an extremely price-sensitive market where every dollar counts.
- No Frills Accommodation: The "offer" is simply a room for the night without any additional amenities or services, thereby keeping costs down.
It is highly unlikely that the Oak Grand Motel would participate in loyalty programs, offer seasonal discounts, or provide specific deals for extended stays, AARP/AAA members, or corporate clients, as these are typical of more established and higher-rated lodging options.
For individuals considering this motel, the focus should be on directly confirming the current price, as public reviews suggest that even at its low price, guests feel it is not worth the cost given the reported conditions. Any "value" offered would stem solely from being potentially the cheapest available shelter.
For direct inquiries or to confirm any details about the Oak Grand Motel, the following contact information is available:
- Address: 216 Spring St, Elizabeth, NJ 07201, USA
- Phone: (908) 353-2808
- Mobile Phone: +1 908-353-2808 (This number is identical to the main phone, indicating the same direct line for ease of contact, regardless of whether calling from a landline or mobile device, or internationally).
It is strongly recommended to call the motel directly to inquire about current rates, availability, and to ask any specific questions you may have before considering a booking. This direct contact would be the most reliable way to obtain information, as extensive online presence or booking capabilities might not be available for establishments of this nature. Given the nature of the reviews, a direct call would also allow potential guests to attempt to gauge the current conditions or policies if they still intend to consider staying.
For New Jersey residents, the Oak Grand Motel in Elizabeth presents an extremely limited and highly conditional suitability. Based on the provided customer reviews, it is unequivocally clear that this establishment is not suitable for the vast majority of travelers seeking comfort, cleanliness, safety, or standard hospitality services. Its suitability is narrowly defined by one overriding factor: extreme budget constraints.
The Oak Grand Motel might be considered by locals only in situations of absolute necessity where the lowest possible price for overnight shelter is the sole determinant, and all other typical expectations for a motel stay have been completely abandoned. This could include:
- Emergency Situations: For individuals facing unexpected, urgent needs for immediate, bare-bones shelter due to unforeseen circumstances, and with severely limited financial resources.
- Last-Resort Option: As implied by phrases like "slum spot" and "good for a short stay and a quickie," it caters to a demographic that might require a very temporary, clandestine, or extremely basic private space, where cleanliness and comfort are secondary concerns.
- Absolute Minimum Budget: If a local resident's budget allows for literally no other lodging options in the entire Elizabeth area, the Oak Grand Motel's price point might be the only feasible choice.
However, it is crucial to reiterate the severe drawbacks highlighted by reviews: "worst motel," "disgusting bathrooms," "stained sheets," non-draining water, issues with "drugs people," and a generally "asqueroso lugar" (disgusting place). These factors indicate significant health, safety, and comfort deficiencies that would make a stay here deeply unpleasant and potentially unsafe for most.
Therefore, for the overwhelming majority of New Jersey locals seeking lodging for family trips, business travel, or even a simple night away, the Oak Grand Motel is unequivocally unsuitable. Its niche suitability is strictly confined to scenarios where extreme financial desperation necessitates the absolute cheapest available shelter, and no other options can be entertained. Locals are strongly advised to explore all other alternatives before considering this property.

May 25, 2024 · Velkis CisnerosA slum spot wouldn't stay here for a Vaca. Spot is good for a short stay and a quickie.
Oct 29, 2024 · Maurice ParisEDIT: Their prices went up last time I passed by (but didn't stay) by $10-$20 for each ones listed below. You're better off staying at an actual inn or hotel. Save your money and go somewhere else.EDIT: I was here again about a month ago, the person attending at the office (older woman) was very rude, unprofessional and made a simple process of getting a room so uncomfortable for me that I'll never stay here again. I know it's "you get what you pay for" but this woman really needs to learn some basic manners. If I could give it 0 stars I would. You get what you pay for. Bedding and towels get washed after every use; basic/decent cleaning is done to the rooms. Drawers/cabinets, some of the lamps are outdated and barely functional. The A/C units work just fine, they all have a heating setting for colder months. There’s a vending machine by the office and a lot of parking. The staff at the office aren’t always pleasant. There's no ATM here. Here are the prices:SUN-THURS:$50 3 HOURS$60 5 HOURS$82 OVERNIGHTFRI-SAT:$53 3 HOURS$69 5 HOURS$92 OVERNIGHTPrice changes the next day at 8am. Overnight begins at 11am until the next day 11am.$2 deposit for a remote control$1 deposit for the keyMake sure to have either $1 for just the key or $3 total for both in CASH, they will hassle you for it.UPDATE: As of recently, they changed their policy, in order to get a room, you must present a government issued ID (State ID, Permit or Driver's License). All other forms of ID will not be accepted (Ex: Foreign passports).
Jan 05, 2024 · Dulce AmadaThe receptionist at this location is absolutely rude. Tried getting a room and was told I had to give her $3.00 in cash even though I was paying with my credit card. I declined the tv remote ( that’s supposedly what the $3.00 is for) I was told she’s not going to rent the room unless I paid the three dollars. Absolutely horrible service.STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Bedbugs and Spiders.
