Flora Motel Introduce
For those seeking practical and budget-friendly accommodation in the vibrant city of Elizabeth, New Jersey, the Flora Motel has been a name that has resonated with many. Situated in a convenient part of town, this establishment has long provided a no-frills, straightforward option for individuals and families looking for a place to rest their heads without breaking the bank. In a state known for its diverse attractions and bustling thoroughfares, having a reliable and accessible motel can make all the difference for travelers passing through or locals needing a temporary haven.
Motels, by their very nature, cater to a specific need: easy access, typically from a main road, with parking often directly outside your room. This design makes them incredibly convenient for road trippers, business travelers on a quick stopover, or even locals in transition. The Flora Motel, consistent with this model, aimed to provide just that – a functional and accessible place to stay. While the landscape of lodging in New Jersey is constantly evolving, the appeal of a classic motel, offering simplicity and affordability, continues to hold a place in the market.
It's important to note that public information regarding the Flora Motel suggests its status has been subject to change, with some former guests indicating it may no longer be operational. However, for the purpose of this article, we'll explore the Flora Motel as it was known and appreciated by its clientele, based on available public reviews and data. Understanding its historical offerings provides valuable insight for locals considering similar accommodation options in the Elizabeth area.
The Flora Motel is (or was) strategically located at 815 Flora St, Elizabeth, NJ 07201, USA. This address places it within Elizabeth, a major city in Union County, New Jersey, known for its proximity to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and its easy access to major highways like the New Jersey Turnpike and Routes 1&9. For anyone traveling by car, this location is a definite advantage, allowing for quick exits and entries from the main roads.
Elizabeth's robust public transportation network also enhances the accessibility of the Flora Motel's former location. While a direct bus stop might not be immediately at the motel's doorstep, the general area of Flora Street is typically well-served by local bus routes that connect to broader transportation hubs, including the Elizabeth train station. This train station provides direct links to Newark Penn Station and New York Penn Station, making the Flora Motel's location a viable option for those looking to explore beyond Elizabeth while relying on public transit. For example, a local user needing a place to stay for a short work assignment near the port, or visiting family in the area, would find the Flora Street address to be quite convenient.
The proximity to Newark Liberty International Airport is also a significant draw. For travelers flying into or out of EWR, a motel like Flora Motel offers a more affordable alternative to airport hotels, often just a short taxi or ride-share away. This accessibility to transportation networks, both road and public, makes the Flora Motel's location a key selling point for a diverse range of visitors to Elizabeth, NJ.
Based on customer reviews and typical motel offerings, Flora Motel focused on providing essential services for a comfortable, short-term stay. While specific amenities may vary and public data is somewhat limited, common services highlighted by past guests include:
Private Rooms: The core offering was a private room for guests, typically with a bed (or multiple beds), a private bathroom, and basic furnishings. One review mentions "every room that I had was always clean," which suggests a commitment to basic room upkeep.
Affordable Pricing: A recurring theme in customer feedback was the affordability of the stay. One review specifically states, "affordable, quiet, clean and kind of private space for….. anyway that was my first place when I moved to Jersey." This highlights its appeal as a budget-friendly option.
Daily Housekeeping: While not explicitly stated as a service, the mention of "very nice housekeepers" in a review suggests that regular cleaning and maintenance of rooms were part of the guest experience.
Front Desk Service: The presence of a "very nice front desk clerk" indicates that guests could expect assistance with check-in, check-out, and any immediate needs or questions during their stay.
Parking: Motels are typically designed with easy parking in mind, often directly outside or very close to guest rooms. While not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, this is a standard and expected service for a motel in this type of location.
The Flora Motel, as recalled by its guests, was characterized by certain features that made it a memorable, if not always perfect, place to stay. These highlights often revolve around the core values of motel accommodation:
Cleanliness: A standout positive consistently mentioned by guests was the cleanliness of the rooms. "Every room that I had was always clean" is a strong endorsement for any lodging establishment, especially in the budget category. This is a critical factor for any traveler, and it appears the Flora Motel prioritized it.
Affordability: For many, the primary highlight was the cost-effectiveness of staying at Flora Motel. As one reviewer noted, it was "affordable," making it an attractive option for those on a tight budget or needing a short-term stay without excessive expenditure. In New Jersey, where lodging costs can sometimes be high, this is a significant advantage.
Privacy: One guest described it as "kind of private space." While a motel might not offer the same level of seclusion as a secluded cabin, the individual room access and typical layout can provide a greater sense of privacy compared to a large, multi-story hotel with internal corridors.
Friendly Staff: The positive mentions of "very nice housekeepers" and a "very nice front desk clerk" indicate a commitment to guest service and a welcoming atmosphere, which can significantly enhance a stay.
It's also worth acknowledging the feedback about noise, "not that quiet most of the time have people up above you or next to you making constant noise most of the night." This highlights a common challenge in budget accommodations, particularly in urban settings, and is a factor guests might consider when choosing a motel.
Given the nature of a straightforward motel, the Flora Motel typically would not have offered elaborate promotional packages like those found at larger hotel chains. Their primary "promotion" would have been their consistent, affordable pricing, which served as the main draw for budget-conscious travelers and locals needing temporary lodging.
However, it's common for motels of this type to offer:
Competitive Daily Rates: The core appeal of the Flora Motel, as noted by former guests, was its affordability. This in itself is a continuous "special offer" for those prioritizing cost savings.
Extended Stay Discounts: Many motels catering to short-term and slightly longer stays often provide discounted rates for guests staying for multiple nights, a week, or even longer. One review mentions staying "two three weeks at a time," which strongly suggests that such arrangements or rates were available.
Direct Booking Benefits: While not a formal promotion, booking directly with the motel (via phone) often allows for the best available rates, avoiding third-party booking fees. This is a common practice in the motel industry.
For specific pricing or potential long-term stay arrangements, directly contacting the motel at the provided phone number would have been the most effective approach.

It is recommended that anyone interested in current availability or similar lodging options verify the operational status of the Flora Motel directly using the provided contact information, as the landscape of local businesses can change.
The Flora Motel, in its essence, was a highly suitable option for locals in New Jersey, particularly those in the Elizabeth area, for several practical reasons. Firstly, its core offering of affordability made it an invaluable resource for individuals and families facing various temporary lodging needs. Whether it was a short-term relocation, a gap between leases, or simply needing a few nights away from home due to renovations or personal circumstances, the "affordable" aspect highlighted by a former guest was a significant advantage. This budget-friendly nature removed a major barrier to accessing comfortable, private accommodation.
Secondly, the emphasis on cleanliness, as consistently praised by reviewers, is paramount for any local looking for a temporary home away from home. Knowing that "every room that I had was always clean" provides peace of mind and ensures a more pleasant and hygienic stay, which is often a top priority for those seeking extended or short-term stays. This commitment to basic upkeep made it a reliable choice for locals who might not be interested in luxury but certainly value a well-maintained environment.
Furthermore, the accessible location of Flora Motel within Elizabeth, with its proximity to major transit routes and the airport, catered well to the logistical needs of local residents. For those with family visiting from out of town, or for locals needing to be close to transportation hubs for work or travel, its address offered undeniable convenience. The ease of access, combined with the presence of a helpful front desk staff, made the check-in and check-out process smooth and hassle-free, allowing locals to focus on their immediate needs rather than navigating complex hotel procedures.
Finally, the "kind of private space" aspect of the motel experience, with direct room access often from the outside, appealed to those seeking a greater sense of autonomy and less interaction than a large, internal-corridor hotel might offer. This sense of privacy, coupled with the straightforward amenities and a focus on meeting basic needs, made the Flora Motel a practical and comfortable choice for many New Jersey locals seeking reliable, no-frills lodging. While its current status should always be verified, the Flora Motel's historical appeal as an affordable, clean, and convenient option for local residents remains a testament to its value in the Elizabeth community.

Oct 18, 2024 · wilgenson poteauI never had a problem at the Flora motel very nice housekeepers very nice front desk clerk if I ever needed anything I had no problems there's times that I stay two three weeks at a time every room that I had was always clean the location is pretty difficult it's not that quiet most of the time have people up above you or next to you making constant noise most of the night but other than that it's decent
Nov 17, 2022 · Roger EllsworthI come here with my boyfriend to get a quickie🤫😉. An extended stay this is not. However it's clean, comfy and not such a seedy feel on the outside. My boyfriend and I believe there's an undercover security officer sitting out at night in the parking lot-- if that would help you feel more comfortable and safe. 5hrs= $62.
