Phelps Park Introduce
For residents of Teaneck and the wider Bergen County area in New Jersey, finding a versatile and well-maintained park that caters to diverse recreational needs is a true asset. Phelps Park stands out as a beloved local green space, offering a range of amenities for families, children, and even canine companions. It's more than just a patch of grass; it's a dynamic community hub where locals can gather, play, exercise, and enjoy the outdoors, solidifying its place as a valued resource in the heart of Teaneck.
Phelps Park is widely recognized for its excellent upkeep and its ability to serve multiple age groups, making it a truly "awesome!" destination for Bergen County residents. As one satisfied local enthusiastically puts it, "As a bergen county resident I can say there's lots of parks I enjoy but this one is awesome! It's right by a university so ofcourse it's well kept and it's even got a sprinkler for those hot unbearable days! Plus versatile for multiple ages. Definitely great for the family." This highlights several key attributes: its pristine condition, likely influenced by its proximity to a university, the refreshing inclusion of a sprinkler area for hot summer days, and its adaptability for various age ranges, from young children to adults. This versatility ensures that Phelps Park offers something for everyone, regardless of their interests or age.
However, it's important for dog owners to be aware of certain considerations, particularly concerning the dog park area. A recent review brought attention to issues with "AGGRESSIVE/REACTIVE DOGS" within the dog park, with the reviewer's dog being attacked multiple times. This experience led to a strong recommendation for clearer signage regarding behavioral expectations: "It’s absolutely ridiculous how there’s no signs or legal warning saying that there is no reactive/aggressive dogs allowed in the dog park. Please put a sign up phelps park. I feel bad for these other dogs who might also be potentially attacked." While the park generally strives to be welcoming to all, this feedback underscores the need for dog owners to exercise vigilance and prioritize safety when using the dog park facilities. For other park users, the overall consensus remains positive, focusing on the park's cleanliness, diverse offerings, and suitability for a general family outing, making it a cherished spot within the Teaneck community.

Phelps Park Reviews
AGGRESSIVE/REACTIVE DOGSI’ve recently brought my dog to the park and it was 6 different times on different days that my dog was attacked by a reactive/aggressive dog. There was two times where he got attacked by 2 dogs at once. It’s absolutely ridiculous how there’s no signs or legal warning saying that there is no reactive/aggressive dogs allowed in the dog park. Please put a sign up phelps park. I feel bad for these other dogs who might also be potentially attacked.

Jul 08, 2022 · Leslie CastilloThe big dog run was nice. Made or small gravel. The gravel by the gates coming in and out need evening, it is hard to open the gates. There's a water fountain outside the dog runs for humans and dogs. Wish they had some bowls inside the runs for them to drink because otherwise, you have to leash them up and leave to access water; you could always fill it up and bring it in. There were a lot of dogs to play with. The sizing is as follows: under 25 pounds for the small run and 26+ pounds in the large run. There was a good amount of balls for them to play with as well. Poop bags and trash-can are available. There are plenty of benches to sit on.

Apr 12, 2025 · Lolliete AlvarezThis is actually a very nice park for the area. It has basketball and tennis courts, playgrounds, barbecue facilities, a baseball diamond, a dog park, and brand new bathroom facilities.Teaneck doesn’t have any REAL parks, but this comes reasonably close.
