For those needing to commute for business or leisure across the region, being nestled between these two populous counties offers a strategic advantage. While Orangeburg itself offers a suburban environment, the hotel's location provides a sense of quietude without sacrificing convenience. Access to major highways such as the Palisades Interstate Parkway and the New York State Thruway (I-87/I-287) is typically just a short drive away, facilitating easy travel to New York City or upstate destinations. For local residents, whether hosting guests or planning a temporary relocation, the ease of access to this Residence Inn is a significant benefit, as one reviewer explicitly stated, "If the location of this hotel wasn’t so convenient, we definitely wouldn’t stay here." One reviewer specifically gave "One star for the breakfast," implying its existence and value, even with noted flaws.
Swimming Pool: The hotel features a swimming pool, offering a recreational option for guests. One review explicitly mentions, "There's a swimming pool."

Residence Inn Orangeburg Rockland/Bergen presents several key features and highlights that define the guest experience, balancing positive aspects with areas where consistent execution is a challenge, as reported by customers.
Extended Stay Amenities: The primary highlight is its design as an extended-stay hotel, featuring suites with kitchens. This offers greater flexibility and comfort for guests on longer trips, allowing for self-catering and a more home-like environment.
Complimentary Breakfast: The inclusion of a complimentary breakfast is a significant value-add for guests. While specific items and their temperature ("eggs were cold") or availability ("Many items ran out") may vary, the provision of a free meal is a definite perk. A "sweetheart" breakfast host is also a positive highlight, indicative of dedicated staff members.
Recreational Facilities: The presence of both a swimming pool and a gym offers valuable on-site recreational opportunities, allowing guests to relax and stay active without leaving the property.
Guest Laundry Room: For extended stays, an in-house guest laundry facility is incredibly convenient, enabling guests to pack lighter and manage their laundry needs.
Convenient Location: As highlighted by a customer, the hotel's location is a major draw. Its strategic placement in Orangeburg provides excellent access to Rockland and Bergen Counties, making it ideal for those needing to navigate the wider New York metropolitan area. This convenience can often outweigh other minor inconveniences.
Responsive Management: While issues may arise (e.g., heating problems, dirty bathtubs), positive feedback about the manager "who always tried to make things right" suggests a commitment to guest satisfaction and problem resolution. This indicates that management is engaged in addressing guest concerns.
However, it's crucial to acknowledge reported areas for improvement:
Inconsistent Maintenance & Cleanliness: Recurring issues with heating not regulating, inconsistent toilet flushing, dirty bathtubs, and unclean laundry rooms indicate challenges with consistent maintenance and housekeeping.
Customer Service Variance: While some staff are praised for friendliness, negative feedback about a "sour puss woman" at the front desk and a lack of acknowledgment upon entry/exit points to inconsistent customer service experiences.
Limited Amenities Replenishment: The "limit of two bottled waters per room, only upon check-in" and not replenished, suggests a policy that might be perceived as "cheap" by some guests, impacting convenience for longer stays.

Enrollment in this free program is a significant "offer" for frequent travelers.

Corporate and AAA/Senior Rates: The hotel likely offers discounted rates for corporate travelers, AAA members, and senior citizens, which can be significant savings for eligible guests.
Complimentary Amenities: While not a traditional "promotion," the included complimentary breakfast, access to the swimming pool and gym, and the guest laundry room are inherent values that enhance the overall offering, especially for extended stays.

For locals in the New York region, particularly those in or visiting Rockland and Bergen Counties, Residence Inn Orangeburg Rockland/Bergen offers a unique and often suitable lodging solution, especially for extended stays. Its suitability hinges on a balance of its inherent advantages and the need for guests to manage expectations based on recent feedback.

Secondly, as an extended-stay property, the Residence Inn format with its suite-style rooms and fully equipped kitchens is highly advantageous for longer visits. This allows guests to maintain a sense of normalcy, prepare their own meals, and enjoy more living space than a standard hotel room. The complimentary breakfast, while sometimes inconsistent in quality, still provides a valuable cost-saving benefit. The inclusion of a pool, gym, and guest laundry room further enhances the self-sufficiency and comfort for guests on extended stays, making it a practical choice for those seeking a home-away-from-home experience.
However, local users should consider the feedback regarding maintenance issues (e.g., heating, dirty bathtubs, laundry room cleanliness) and occasional customer service inconsistencies. For those prioritizing a consistently pristine environment or highly personalized service, it would be prudent to inquire directly with the hotel about recent improvements or to set expectations accordingly. Despite these challenges, the willingness of management to "make things right" suggests a commitment to addressing guest concerns.
In conclusion, Residence Inn Orangeburg Rockland/Bergen is well-suited for New York locals who value a highly convenient location, appreciate the extended-stay amenities of a suite with a kitchen, and can manage their expectations regarding minor service or maintenance inconsistencies. It provides a practical and valuable option for longer visits or when hosting out-of-town guests who require more than just a basic hotel room in the Rockland/Bergen County area.

Residence Inn Orangeburg Rockland/Bergen Reviews
I’ve been staying here for about three consecutive weekends with my friend who is a member of the Marriott chain. He left it up to me to write a review so here goes…Most of the clerks behind the desk were friendly except for one sour puss woman. She would never look up from her desk upon our entrance or exit. No greeting of any kind from a hotel clerk is just rude beyond belief. It wasn’t that she was busy, it was because she was a curmudgeon. Who doesn’t acknowledge guests as they come or go? Such odd behavior for ‘hospitality’. Everyone else working there would greet us.There was a limit of two bottled waters per room, only upon check-in. If one needed another two the next night, well you’re out of luck. This seems beyond cheap to me.The breakfast host is a sweetheart, and he works very hard. Unfortunately, the eggs were cold every morning. If there were to be a microwave, this could solve the problem. They tasted fine, just ALWAYS above room temperature. Many items rain out as well. It definitely needs to be better stocked. And if the eggs are cold and there’s no more coffee, don’t blame it on the breakfast host. He works very hard. Blame it on his supervisor, or that crabby lady at the front desk. The room was fine except our first stay (out of three) the heat wouldn’t regulate. It either ran high into the 70’s, or not at all. The third visit, the toilet wouldn’t flush consistently. If the location of this hotel wasn’t so convenient, we definitely wouldn’t stay here. But kudos to the manager who always tried to make things right. And a major boo to grouchy clerk who never acknowledged us.
May 21, 2025 · Gabriella DonnayOne star for the breakfast, another one for the front desk service. I thought the price was very reasonable. There's a swimming pool and gym, complimentary breakfast and also guest laundry room!But... the room's heater wasn't working with 13° outside weather. We moved the new room. The heater is working but the same dirty bath tub! Do clean by yourself one more time! And also the laundry room...so dirty...
Jan 27, 2025 · Sone JudySlightly out of the way but a great value. Rooms are comfortable, immaculate, and quiet. Mattresses in good shape. Didn't get to sample the breakfast. There is a very small bar, which a handful of visitors used.
Mar 27, 2025 · R DA lovely room with a kitchenette. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast included eggs, sausages, as well as many other things, including fresh fruits and yogurt.
May 09, 2025 · Irena WWe stayed there for the weekend before Christmas and we were very happy. The rooms were clean. The breakfast had a very nice selection. The staff were very courteous. We will absolutely stay here again!
