For New Jersey residents and travelers passing through the bustling Meadowlands region, finding a straightforward, budget-conscious lodging option can be a priority. The Royal Motel in Secaucus, NJ, aims to provide just that – a no-frills, practical place to rest and recharge. This article will offer a candid look at the Royal Motel, drawing on its publicly available information and guest feedback to help you decide if it aligns with your travel needs.
Motels, by their nature, often cater to travelers seeking affordability and convenient access, typically for shorter stays. The Royal Motel, situated on the service road of New Jersey Route 3 West, fits this mold. When considering such an establishment, it’s important to align expectations with the price point. Reviews for the Royal Motel present a mixed picture, which is common for budget accommodations. Some guests have highlighted positive aspects, such as the helpfulness of staff members – one reviewer specifically noted a "super nice and helpful" doorman – and the ability to get a "good night's sleep" before continuing their journey. This suggests that for travelers prioritizing basic comfort and a quick stopover, the motel can serve its purpose. However, other reviews point to areas that might concern some guests, such as room cleanliness and maintenance issues, which are important considerations for any potential stay. The Royal Motel appears to be a choice for those who value practicality and a convenient location above extensive amenities or luxurious surroundings, making it a functional stop for travelers navigating the New Jersey corridor.
The Royal Motel boasts a highly convenient location at 650 New Jersey 3, W (Service Road), Secaucus, NJ 07094, USA. This address places it directly on a major thoroughfare, offering exceptional accessibility for travelers by car and providing straightforward routes to key destinations in New Jersey and New York City.
Situated on the service road of Route 3 West, the motel offers immediate access to this critical highway, which connects directly to the Lincoln Tunnel for swift passage into Manhattan. This makes it a practical choice for visitors looking to explore New York City without the high cost of city accommodation. Additionally, its proximity to other major roadways like the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95) and Route 17 ensures easy travel to various parts of the state, whether you're heading north, south, or west.
For those relying on public transportation, while the motel is on a major road, direct public bus stops for local routes are generally found along Route 3 itself. Guests would need to verify the closest and most convenient bus stops for specific routes, especially for direct service to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC or Secaucus Junction for train connections. The motel’s primary accessibility is geared towards guests with personal vehicles, offering on-site parking, which is a significant advantage in this busy area.
Beyond transportation, the Royal Motel's location in Secaucus places it within a short driving distance of major attractions. American Dream, the mega-entertainment and retail complex, and MetLife Stadium, home to professional sports and concerts, are both just minutes away. This makes the motel a functional base for attendees of events or visitors exploring these popular destinations. Its location also offers convenience for business travelers frequenting the corporate parks and distribution centers in the Secaucus and Meadowlands area.
As a budget-friendly motel, the Royal Motel in Secaucus provides a foundational set of services typically expected for a straightforward overnight stay. While it doesn't offer extensive amenities like luxury hotels, it focuses on the essentials to get guests through their journey.
- 24-Hour Front Desk: Guests can expect assistance at any time, which is convenient for late arrivals or early departures.
- Free Parking: On-site parking is generally available and complimentary, a significant benefit for travelers arriving by car in a busy metropolitan area.
- Basic In-Room Amenities: Rooms typically include a bed, private bathroom with shower, and perhaps a small soap or shampoo. Features like air conditioning/heating are standard. Guest reviews mention amenities such as comfortable beds and good shower pressure.
- TV: Rooms are likely equipped with a television for basic entertainment.
- Housekeeping: Housekeeping services are usually provided, though the frequency and thoroughness can vary based on the motel's policy and guest feedback.
- Accessibility: As a motel, it generally offers ground-floor access for many rooms, which can be convenient for loading and unloading luggage directly from a vehicle.
It's important to note that while some guests mentioned having a fridge or phone in their rooms, recent reviews indicate that the functionality of these specific items might not always be consistent, and guests should verify essential amenities directly if they are critical for their stay. Basic services geared towards transient travelers are the primary focus here.
The Royal Motel in Secaucus, while being a no-frills option, does offer specific features and highlights that can make it a suitable choice for certain types of travelers:
- Highly Accessible Location: Its direct position on the Route 3 West service road is arguably its strongest feature. This offers unparalleled ease of access for drivers, providing direct routes to the Lincoln Tunnel for NYC, and connecting seamlessly to other major highways like the New Jersey Turnpike.
- Value Pricing: For travelers on a strict budget, the Royal Motel typically offers competitive rates, making it an attractive option for those seeking the most affordable lodging in the area.
- Free On-Site Parking: The availability of complimentary parking is a significant advantage in the heavily trafficked Secaucus area, saving guests from additional costs and the hassle of finding street parking.

- "Good Night's Sleep" for Transient Stays: As highlighted by a positive customer review, for travelers who simply need a place to rest overnight before continuing their journey, the motel can provide a bed and a shower for a quick, functional stop.
- Helpful Doorman/Staff: One specific review praised a "super nice and helpful doorman," suggesting that despite potential general maintenance issues, individual staff members can offer positive interactions and assistance.
- 24-Hour Front Desk: The continuous availability of front desk service is a convenient feature for guests with unconventional travel schedules or those needing assistance at any hour.
It's important to note that while these are highlights, potential guests should also balance them against the reported cleanliness and maintenance issues mentioned in other reviews, setting appropriate expectations for a budget motel experience.
As a budget motel, the Royal Motel in Secaucus does not typically offer complex "promotions or special offers" in the way larger hotel chains might. Its primary competitive advantage is often its consistent value pricing, which inherently acts as its ongoing "offer" to budget-conscious travelers.
However, guests looking for the best possible rate when booking at the Royal Motel might consider the following general practices often applicable to independent or budget accommodations:
- Direct Booking: Sometimes, contacting the motel directly by phone can yield the best available rate, as it allows them to avoid commission fees from online travel agencies.
- Mid-Week Stays: Rates for motels, especially those catering to business or transient travelers, can sometimes be lower during weekdays compared to weekends, particularly if there are no major events at nearby venues.
- Off-Season Travel: During periods of lower tourist demand in the New Jersey / NYC area, rates might be more flexible.
- Last-Minute Deals: For very short-notice bookings, if the motel has available rooms, they might offer a slightly reduced rate to fill vacancies, though this is not guaranteed.
The core "promotion" of the Royal Motel is its commitment to providing an affordable place to stay with convenient access to major thoroughfares and attractions. For travelers whose priority is a bed, a private bathroom, and easy parking at a low cost, the motel aims to deliver that consistent value. It's recommended to call the motel directly or check reputable budget hotel booking sites for the most current pricing for your specific dates.

Royal Motel Reviews
Most disgusting room ever. Used TPs in bathroom, stained/burned sheets, incredibly small soaps, bathtub/shower walls dirty/Unsanitized, moldy, etc. wish I had my money back.
Apr 28, 2025 · Lola WilliamsGreat pricing for what it offers, the doorman was super nice and helpful, spent a good night's sleep and hit the road back home well rested.
May 17, 2025 · DavidI had the room booked but cancelled because of how rude the man was on the phone when I called to confirm my booking. I made it through Expedia, but wanted to confirm that everything was OK on the motel's end. But the guy was hard to understand for one, & kept yelling at me when I asked him to repeat himself. Between a heavy accent & bad phone quality, yeah it can be hard to understand a person. He then refused to check the booking. Just said "you're all set just come in at 3 o'clock at check in". Like, you're not even gonna ask for my name or the dates that I booked? I just don't want to show up & god forbid my room is taken, that's why I wanted to call & make sure. But soley due to that man's attitude & unwillingness to help a guest, I had to cancel the booking & scheduled a stay at another hotel. This place should definitely hire new staff...maybe ones that don't sound clearly miserable over the phone.
Sep 22, 2024 · Rachel RudsitThere's a shameless old (I think he is from India, because he had indian accent) man sitting there who sold me the room for $270. Although the room price in expedia was cheaper (approximately 80 to 90 dollars). The room was unclean, ridiculously dirty, and had bad smells.
Sep 01, 2024 · Sievush AkobirshoevMotel was good. Bedroom's sheets is clean and washed. Bathroom is tight and clean also. People are nice not bad. I am coming back. Oh by the way lots of restaurants in 2 minutes distance. Mexican, Italian, and others.
