The Local NY

13-02 44th Ave, Long Island City, NY 11101, USA

4.0
Stayed here for a short trip to NYC and overall had a good experience. The bed was comfortable, with thick blankets that kept me warm through the night. The room was spacious enough, though it would be much better if curtains were added for extra privacy — something I hope the hostel considers in the future. The AC was a bit noisy, but manageable with earplugs.Bathrooms were clean but do note that soap and shampoo are not provided (available for purchase). The kitchen was a bit small, so it can get crowded during peak hours. What I loved:• The large communal lounge was a big plus for relaxing or meeting other travelers.• There’s also a café and bar on site, which adds a really nice social touch.• The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my stay.• Although there’s no elevator, it’s only two floors — totally doable.• And the rooftop is beautiful! Too bad I couldn’t enjoy it much because it was raining during my visit. No game room or pool table, so don’t expect a party hostel vibe — but if you’re looking for a cozy, social, and well-located place to stay in NYC, this is a solid choice. - Nita Mandagi

Promotions or Special Offers

Given the nature of a hostel, these are often seasonal or geared towards encouraging longer stays or group bookings. Based on customer reviews, here are some "offers" that guests have highlighted or that are common in such venues:

  • Amazing Happy Hour: As noted by a customer, the on-site bar offers an "AMAZING happy hour" with "reasonable prices" on cocktails. This is a significant draw for guests looking to socialize and enjoy quality drinks without breaking the bank.
  • Affordable Pricing: The fundamental "promotion" of The Local NY is its consistently affordable rates, particularly when compared to hotels in Manhattan or even other parts of Long Island City. This makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers and locals alike.
  • Direct Booking Benefits: Hostels sometimes offer slightly better rates or perks (like a free drink voucher upon arrival) for guests who book directly through their website rather than third-party platforms. It's always worth checking their official site for any exclusive deals.
  • Extended Stay Discounts: For guests planning a longer visit to New York City, The Local NY might offer reduced rates for stays beyond a certain number of nights. This is a common practice in hostels and extended-stay accommodations.
  • Group Booking Rates: If you're traveling with a group, inquire about special group rates, as hostels often have discounts for larger bookings.
  • Seasonal Offers: Keep an eye on their official website or social media channels for potential seasonal promotions, especially during off-peak travel times in NYC, which might include reduced prices or bundled amenities.
