The Renwick Introduce
New York City, a place of constant motion and endless discovery, often inspires us to seek out those hidden gems that combine convenience with a touch of unique character. For those of us who call the five boroughs home, whether we're planning a staycation, hosting out-of-towners, or simply needing a tranquil escape from our own busy lives, finding the right accommodation is key. Enter The Renwick, a remarkable hotel that stands as a testament to Manhattan's enduring charm and artistic spirit.
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Midtown East, The Renwick isn't just another hotel; it's a meticulously restored landmark building that once served as a creative enclave for artists and writers during the roaring twenties. This rich history is woven into the very fabric of its design, offering a unique blend of timeless elegance and contemporary comfort. Imagine stepping into a space where every detail, from the furnishings to the artwork, subtly pays homage to its artistic past, creating an atmosphere that is both inspiring and deeply relaxing.
The Renwick distinguishes itself by offering a residential-style experience, a refreshing departure from the typical compact hotel rooms often found in New York. Guests are treated to spacious suites and thoughtfully designed rooms that feel more like a chic urban apartment than a temporary lodging. This commitment to comfort and generous space, combined with its prime location, makes The Renwick an exceptional choice for anyone looking to truly savor their time in the city, whether they're a seasoned New Yorker or visiting for the first time.
The Renwick boasts an undeniably perfect Midtown location at 118 E 40th St, New York, NY 10016, USA. This address places it just minutes away from some of Manhattan's most iconic landmarks and crucial transportation hubs. For anyone navigating the city, its proximity to Grand Central Terminal is an absolute game-changer. You're literally a few minutes' walk from this architectural marvel, which serves as a major nexus for subway lines and commuter trains, offering unparalleled access to virtually every corner of New York City and beyond. Whether you need to head downtown for business, uptown for museum visits, or across town for a Broadway show, your journey begins with incredible ease from The Renwick.

The Renwick Reviews
Great hotel in a perfect Midtown location! The Renwick Hotel is just a few minutes from Grand Central Station – ideal for exploring the city. The rooms are simple but clean and absolutely fine. My tip: book a room on a higher floor facing the back – the view of the Empire State Building is amazing! Plenty of spots nearby to grab a coffee and bagel before heading out. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for a NYC stay!
Apr 20, 2025 · Christian TreindlThoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Renwick. The location was perfect, centrally located between many tourists attractions (Grand Central Terminal, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Times Square, Empire State Building, etc.,) without the loud traffic & crowds. The area felt very safe with coffee shops & diners nearby. The 355 square foot suite was spacious enough for 3-4 adults & the bed was quite comfortable. The furniture layout makes the suite feel more spacious than the square footage suggests. The walls seemed soundproof as we never heard neighboring rooms & the wait for the elevator was quick. The entire hotel is a vibe-a relaxing vibe. Lastly & most importantly, the staff was very friendly & accommodating. Shout out to T and to the service workers that made sure the suite had everything we needed or expeditiously sent to the room upon request. Thanks also to the doorman/concierge. You all made our first trip to New York enjoyable. You greeted us every time we were either on our way in or out. We felt welcomed & your hospitality is greatly appreciated.
Mar 04, 2025 · Wilba Spencer**Disappointing Service Overshadows Great Location**Despite an excellent location near Grand Central and well-designed rooms with an interesting art theme, this hotel was a frustrating experience I cannot recommend.Service is inconsistent and often unpleasant. I experienced Fawlty Towers-style quirky and unpredictable interactions throughout my stay. One front desk employee (Greg) became visibly angry when simply asked for his name. Staff seemed annoyed when we needed elevator access for our stroller (hi Suresh). The only exception was Peter, who provided decent service by accommodating our early check-in with sleeping toddlers after other staff had refused to help. Not recommended for families with children. There are multiple steps throughout the property and staff seemed bothered by accommodating stroller needs. We received contradictory information about policies on consecutive days. This might be acceptable for solo travelers or couples who don't require much staff interaction. The location and room design are the only highlights, but the erratic and often rude service makes this hotel difficult to recommend to anyone, especially families.
Mar 27, 2025 · Gabby CWas a little worried it would be kind of cheesy but we loved it. Basically in central station, and felt very comfortable. They let us check in early, which was amazing, and all the staff and people staying there were super nice. Windows that can be opened, free coffee in the morning, a radio with Bluetooth capabilities and refrigerator in the room. The restaurant attached is super charming as well. Would love to return.
Apr 27, 2025 · Becca WilsonI waited to write this review. Before we checked out, we received a text asking about our stay, which I answered. It's been several days and I did not get a response. We made our reservation about 2 weeks in advance. I actually called to make the reservation since we were staying because surgery was scheduled the next day at NYU. I asked for a quiet location because we needed a good night's rest. Upon check in, I questioned the location again. Our room was clean and comfortable. Our comfort ended at 3 am when construction started directly under us and workers yelling under our bathroom windows. Yes, the 14th floor, but ridiculous. We have stayed in the city many times in the past and have never experienced this. We happily take a room with no view, etc. The staff was kind, friendly and helpful. Service at the bar pretty non existent. Never saw a smile behind the bar. Drinks were fine. Coffee in the morning was nice. I am still puzzled about the check out text. Why bother?
