The Shelburne Sonesta New York Reviews
We paid a bit more for a suite with views of the Empire State building. And we weren't disappointed. Great views. Room was nice with a huge comfy bed. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Roof top bar is spectacular and you must visit. It gives a great perspective on how big the buildings are and how beautiful it is.
May 21, 2025 · Ron WWe were in one of their lower cost rooms so didn't expect a lot as we were in New York to see the sights and just wanted somewhere to sleep. The hotel is in a great location and staff were lovely but the room was really poor. The tiles on the bathroom floor were broken and actually rocked under your feet. They moved so much it felt as if they would pinch the soles of your feet if you weren't careful. The sink was cracked and had been repaired at some point. The shower was tepid at best even on the hottest setting. The room was clean and it had a comfy bed. When leaving they asked if all was well with my stay and I told them about the room. They said they know about the quality of the rooms but are shortly doing a full upgrade so it will be better after that. They also said I should have said something and they would have moved me. That's not acceptable to me, I've moved rooms before in hotels and you have to wait half a day, repack all your things to move and then unpack and it basically wastes most of a day's holiday, so wanting to make the most of New York we put up with it. In my view the hotel are totally wrong to rent out that room when they are aware of it's condition, especially for full price. They hoped I'd come back after the refresh. I doubt I would. They have a lovely rooftop bar and ground floor bistro that are part of the building but seem to be run as separate concerns. Would recommend them not the hotel.
May 04, 2025 · Trish TurleyJust left the Shelburne this morning after a "bucket list" solo trip to NYC. Wonderful stay! Hotel is very nice with spacious rooms. Staff was incredible. Both street level & rooftop bar/restaurants were incredible. I didn't expect the food to be so good. Good location somewhat central to all the parks. Definitely would stay here again.
May 26, 2025 · Derrick BeltWe just stayed at the Shelburne for our Easter family vacation in NYC 4/16-4/21. We absolutely loved this hotel. It is centrally located, easy 15 min walk to so many places and a quick walk to Grand Central station. The entire staff is so friendly and welcoming from Arelis Nunez at the front desk to the Doormen with their recommendations on where to eat, and they very attentive cleaning staff. We loved that every day we could pick 2 snack items and these became clutch when we got sick and didn't feel well and needed the extra hydration. The hotel was clean and we had the 1 bedroom apartment which was very spacious for our family of 4. The kids had their own space in the living room with the sofa bed and me and my husband had a very comfy Queen bed in the bedroom. We had a kitchen area with fridge and microwave to heat up our leftovers. That was a first for us in a hotel! Unfortunately we got sick from a stomach bug while visiting (NOT the hotel's fault) and the staff were amazing and so accommodating to us. They helped extend our stay when needed since we had to go to the emergency room. Brought us waters and made sure they helped with anything we needed. When we felt better and were ready to leave, my daughter forgot her purse on the couch in the lobby and we didn't notice until we got to the airport. I immediately called Arelis and she found the purse, packed it up for me and shipped it back to Miami. I will recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to NYC and will definitely stay there at our next visit.
Apr 22, 2025 · Ali NunezI just wrapped up a trip to NYC with my two daughters and sister. It was my older daughter's 10th birthday and they spoiled her so well! We absolutely loved this hotel. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Every one was so sweet to my daughters and seemed genuinely interested in hearing about their daily escapades! The daily snacks were a fun way for my girls to engage with the front desk staff. I just can't rave enough about how friendly everyone was, from the front desk staff, to the housekeeping staff, to the runners. The hotel was clean and offered the rare double queen room! The roof top bar / restaurant was gorgeous! We didn't eat there because my kids are too picky, but the views are amazing. We had a kitchenette room, and my only critique was there was no plates or silverware. Just glasses (and of course a micro & mini fridge, with an actual freezer to keep ice) Previti Pizza is a block away and had delicious slices and when your feet are sore, across the street and on the next block had a foot rub place that will rejuvenate you! I will recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to NYC. It is centrally located, easy 20 min walk to so many places and a quick walk to Grand Central station. We had the best trip and this hotel was part of that success!!
