Airway Inn at LaGuardia Introduce
For New Yorkers and visitors navigating the vibrant and bustling landscape of Queens, particularly those with early flights or late arrivals at LaGuardia Airport, the Airway Inn at LaGuardia presents itself as an accommodation option in East Elmhurst. Located conveniently close to one of New York City's major aviation hubs, it aims to serve travelers looking for proximity to the airport.
Situated in a dynamic part of Queens, the Airway Inn positions itself as a practical choice for those requiring a quick stay near LaGuardia. Its primary function, as suggested by its name, is to cater to the needs of airport-bound individuals or those who have just landed and are seeking immediate lodging. The surrounding East Elmhurst area is a residential and commercial neighborhood, offering various local amenities and transit options that connect to broader New York City.
However, it is important for prospective guests to be aware of the experiences shared by previous visitors. While the hotel aims to provide a functional stay, recent customer reviews indicate significant concerns regarding the condition of the rooms and the overall guest experience. Comments from real customers describe issues such as "no carpet," "dusty floor," "holes in the walls," and drawers that "did not close all the way." Safety concerns were also raised, with reports of "windows don't lock" on first-floor rooms and issues with key card access, leading to a feeling of being "UNSAFE." One particularly critical review detailed a frustrating back-and-forth with staff regarding room quality and safety, ultimately leading to a refund request and the guest spending a night at LaGuardia Airport itself.
These detailed accounts suggest that while the Airway Inn at LaGuardia offers a location convenient for airport access, potential guests should temper their expectations regarding room quality, cleanliness, and overall service. It appears that the hotel's offerings might be more aligned with very short, utilitarian stays rather than comfortable or extended lodging, and guests should be prepared to address potential issues upon arrival.
The Airway Inn at LaGuardia is strategically located at 8220 Astoria Blvd, East Elmhurst, NY 11370, USA. This address places it directly on Astoria Boulevard, a major thoroughfare in Queens, and in very close proximity to LaGuardia Airport. This location is undoubtedly its most significant advantage for travelers.
For New Yorkers and visitors utilizing public transportation, the hotel's accessibility is reasonable. Astoria Boulevard is serviced by several MTA bus lines, including the M60 SBS, Q19, and Q47, which provide direct connections to various parts of Queens, Manhattan (M60 SBS to Harlem and Broadway), and the LaGuardia Airport terminals. The Q47, for instance, runs directly to LaGuardia Airport's Marine Air Terminal. While there isn't a direct subway station immediately adjacent, connections can be made via these bus routes to subway lines such as the 7 train at 82nd Street-Jackson Heights or the N/W trains in Astoria. For those driving, the location right off Astoria Boulevard means easy access from major highways like the Grand Central Parkway and the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE), which are critical arteries connecting different boroughs. While specific parking information isn't detailed, hotels in this area typically offer some form of on-site parking for guests, a considerable convenience for airport travelers with vehicles.
Based on its classification as an inn/motel primarily serving airport travelers and considering typical offerings for establishments of this nature, the Airway Inn at LaGuardia likely provides a concise set of services. However, it's crucial to acknowledge the serious concerns raised in customer reviews regarding the quality and reliability of these services and facilities.
- Accommodation: The core service is providing guest rooms for overnight stays. However, reviews frequently mention issues with room condition, including lack of carpet, dusty floors, holes in walls, broken furniture (drawers, closet doors), and unsealed wall linings.
- Front Desk / Check-in: A front desk is available for guest check-in and check-out. Reviews highlight issues with staff interactions, including difficulty with key card functionality and unhelpful or rude responses to guest concerns, with one guest reporting needing to "go back and forth with the one guy at the desk for a while."
- Basic Room Amenities: Rooms are expected to include fundamental amenities such as beds, some form of furniture, and lighting. However, feedback points to concerns about cleanliness, with descriptions like "greasy" and "smeared shiny look on old furniture," and "small pieces of tissue scattered on the floor."
- Wi-Fi: While not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, most contemporary hotels, even budget ones, typically offer Wi-Fi access for guests. The quality and reliability of this service would need to be verified by guests.
- Proximity to Airport: The hotel's direct proximity to LaGuardia Airport functions as a primary "service" for travelers, offering a quick commute for flights.
- Security Measures: While an attendant reportedly stated, "we have cameras" in response to security concerns regarding windows that don't latch or lock, customer reviews indicate that guests felt "UNSAFE" due to these issues and concerns about staff having master keys.
Given the significant negative feedback, prospective guests should exercise caution and directly inquire about the current condition of rooms and safety protocols before booking.
Despite the critical reviews, the Airway Inn at LaGuardia does possess certain features that make it an option for a specific type of traveler, primarily those prioritizing airport proximity above all else. However, it's vital to present these alongside the reported drawbacks.
- Direct Proximity to LaGuardia Airport: This is unequivocally the strongest feature. Its location on Astoria Boulevard ensures very quick access to LaGuardia Airport terminals, making it suitable for early morning departures or late-night arrivals.
- Budget-Oriented Option (Implied): While specific pricing is not provided, hotels focusing on airport proximity often cater to travelers seeking more affordable overnight stays compared to hotels in Manhattan or other prime NYC locations. However, the value proposition is heavily impacted by the reported condition of the rooms.
- Accessibility to Public Transit: Being on Astoria Boulevard, the hotel has direct access to several MTA bus lines, facilitating connections to various parts of Queens and Manhattan.
Based on customer reviews, the following are not highlights and are indeed significant concerns:
- Room Condition: Reported issues include dusty floors, holes in walls, non-closing drawers, broken closet hinges, and what was described as "greasy" or "smeared shiny look on old furniture."
- Cleanliness: Customers explicitly mentioned finding "small pieces of tissue scattered on the floor" and rooms looking "disgusting" and "dirty."
- Safety and Security: Major concerns were raised about windows that "didn't latch closed" or "don't lock" on first-floor rooms, leading to guests feeling "UNSAFE." Issues with room key cards not working and staff having master keys also contributed to security fears.
- Customer Service: Reviewers described staff as "rude" and unhelpful, particularly in addressing serious room condition and safety complaints.
Prospective guests should be fully aware that while the location is convenient for the airport, the reported features of the actual accommodation and service are critically negative.
Specific promotions or special offers for the Airway Inn at LaGuardia are not available in the public information provided, nor are they typically a strong focus for hotels with such critical public feedback. Hotels of this nature, if they offer promotions, usually center them around short-term stays, airport-related packages, or competitive pricing to attract budget-conscious travelers. However, given the severe issues highlighted in customer reviews, it is highly unlikely that any promotional offers would outweigh the concerns regarding cleanliness, safety, and room condition. It is always advisable for any potential guest to check current rates directly and, more importantly, to read very recent reviews on various booking platforms to get the most up-to-date picture of the hotel's state before committing to a booking. Direct contact with the hotel for specific inquiries about rates or availability is an option, but the experiences of previous guests suggest a need for significant caution.

For New Yorkers, the suitability of Airway Inn at LaGuardia is extremely limited and comes with significant caveats, primarily due to the overwhelming negative feedback from recent guests. While its location is undeniably convenient for LaGuardia Airport, this seems to be its singular advantage. For locals needing an absolute bare-bones, last-minute overnight stay purely for immediate proximity to the airport for an early flight or late arrival, and who are willing to overlook significant cleanliness, safety, and comfort issues, it might theoretically serve a very specific, limited purpose.
However, based on the detailed and severe customer reviews, which describe conditions ranging from "dusty" and "holes in the walls" to "greasy" rooms, non-locking windows, and unhelpful staff, this hotel is generally not suitable for most New Yorkers seeking a comfortable, safe, or even minimally pleasant stay. The experiences recounted, including feeling "UNSAFE" and ultimately seeking refunds and spending the night at the airport, paint a picture of an establishment that fails to meet basic hospitality standards. For any local considering this hotel, it is imperative to prioritize personal safety and comfort. Given the numerous other accommodation options, even those near the airport, it would be prudent for New Yorkers to thoroughly research alternatives that offer a more reliable and secure environment for their stay. The compelling negative experiences shared by past guests suggest that the potential stress and dissatisfaction would far outweigh the benefit of its location for the vast majority of local travelers.

Airway Inn at LaGuardia Reviews
This place looks nothing like the pictures. The room that I had there was no carpet. The floor was dusty. There was holes in the walls. The drawer did not close all the way the hinges was off the closet door, and there was foam or some kind of calk Along the wall of the floor lining, maybe to prevent the rats from coming in. I gave the key back within five minutes.
May 14, 2025 · Desiree BlanksAirway Inn to Runaway Out.Room 114: Has a room ever looked greasy to you? I can't explain that smeared shiny look on old furniture, it just looked gross. Small pieces of tissue were scattered on the floor it was disgusting.UNSAFERoom 115: Same shiny and dirty looking room. Both rooms were 5 ft away from the desk in the back corner. I felt like these are the rooms you pay a few hours for and keep it moving. I checked the window in the rooms and neither latched closed. UNSAFEFirst floor rooms and windows don't lock. CRAZY! The attendant states "we have cameras". What!? Do you know how many people did stuff on camera and haven't been caught? I don't choose to be a victim. My room key card didn't work and they told me "I got the master key I'll let you in your room" So you have a key to my room and I don't? Wait a minute now! I went back and forth with the one guy at the desk for a while until he got a cancellation and now there is another room available upstairs.Room upstairs: The second floor had a nice view and windows that locked. I'm checking windows and the lights flicker. I turned around so fast to ask "did you just turn off the lights"? The Inn or Motel employee states "oh no that wasn't me". I knew that was a sign to go. An older guy showed up after an hour of going back and forth with the younger guy and was rude. No apology no nothing. Your hotel is dirty and unsafe! Thank you hotels.com for sending that email so I could get my refund. The major problem is that they hold your money and I couldn't afford to authorize $463 twice. There was no way I could pay another motel or hotel $400 plus for 2 nights and eat and travel. I spent my first night in New York at LaGuardia airport.. Airway Inn F you!
Dec 27, 2024 · La Shondra BendRoom was not at all good not even cleaned. Cancelled instantly but didn’t refunded us any thing. Received refund of $3.50. Cheapest service ever. Don't recommend to anyone .
May 25, 2025 · Gaurav Saini*DO NOT GO - BEDBUGS!*A 1 star is generous. We stayed in room 409 on 12/29/24 paid about $285. the room was dirty. The lamps were broken. There was a fake eyelash in the bathroom. We overlooked a lot of things because we just needed the room for 1 quick night. In the morning we noticed bed bugs on the bed. We went to checkout and notified the front desk an he said there is nothing he can. do about it. I will be contacting the health department to report them and disputing the charge with my credit card. The owner should be ashamed of himself for running a TRASH hotel. Please report his hotel to the health department - they need to be shut down.
Dec 30, 2024 · Sandy ChocanoThis hotel is a scam. DO NOT BOOK HERE. I showed up for my reservation and they said they didn’t have any rooms. Then they charged me anyways. Ive been calling for 3 months and the owner hangs up on me. DO NOT STAY HERE OR GIVE YOUR CC INFO.
