Its value proposition is particularly strong for those who prioritize location and essential comforts over lavish amenities.
Firstly, its prime location in Hell's Kitchen at 548 W 48th St is a significant draw. For a staycation, this means you're steps away from Broadway shows, world-class dining, and the electric atmosphere of Times Square, all without the long commute that often accompanies venturing outside your immediate neighborhood. It allows you to immerse yourself in the city's highlights as if you were a visitor, yet with the familiarity and convenience of being just a subway ride or short taxi trip from home. Instead of cramming them into your apartment or sending them to a far-flung, less accessible hotel, this location ensures they are centrally positioned to explore Manhattan's iconic sights with ease. The complimentary continental breakfast is a huge bonus, saving both time and money for your guests, allowing them to fuel up before a day of sightseeing. The staff's willingness to assist with "walk-ins" in emergency situations, as noted by a past guest, also speaks to a level of helpfulness that can be a real lifeline in a fast-paced city.
While some reviews highlight areas for improvement, such as occasional issues with room condition or Wi-Fi signal strength, these are common considerations in New York City hotels, especially at a value price point. The overarching sentiment from many guests points to a clean, safe, and conveniently located hotel with a friendly staff. For locals, understanding that this is a "no-frills good hotel" means setting realistic expectations. You're paying for an excellent location and foundational comforts, not necessarily a luxury spa experience.
The focus on core amenities like comfortable beds, air conditioning, and a complimentary breakfast ensures that the fundamental needs for a comfortable stay are met. For a local looking for a convenient overnight stay after a Broadway show, a base for visiting family, or simply a change of scenery for a weekend without a significant splurge, the Comfort Inn Manhattan - Midtown West delivers a practical and reliable option right in the heart of the action. It's a testament to effective urban hospitality, offering what's truly essential for an engaging New York experience without unnecessary extravagance.

Comfort Inn Manhattan - Midtown West Reviews
I was really disappointed with my stay. I stayed in a room with 2 Double Beds, and the overall condition did not meet expectations. The room had a strong mold smell, especially in the bathroom, which made it very uncomfortable. The toilet flush handle did not rebound properly, which was inconvenient. The hair dryer's rear filter was clogged with dust and dirt — I had to clean it myself, which shouldn’t be necessary for guests. The Wi-Fi signal was extremely weak, making it difficult to get any work done. Despite raising these concerns with the front desk, I was told this was "normal," which was quite surprising and unhelpful.I paid for the stay using points — 30,000 points — which I don’t feel was worth it at all, especially considering the cash value was over $200. For that price, I expected a much higher quality experience. Unfortunately, the stay didn’t come close to meeting the standards you'd expect at that level. You should really consider lowering the price or points required to match the actual quality of the stay.
Apr 19, 2025 · Shawn HsuThe Comfort Inn is a no frills good hotel if you want a safe clean place to spend a night. The night that I stayed they were gracious to reserve a room for me when they don't usually do "walk ins". I had a somewhat of an emergency situation and they really helped me out. The room was on the lobby level and it was the last room available. They "saved my evening". No makeup mirror, and the closet space has no doors and also the night table lamp is the only light in the room. There seemed to be lights above the bed but I couldn't figure out how to turn them on. The other lighting came from the entrance to the room and the bathroom. The AC/Heater worked fine. The room faced the back of the building but I didn't mind as my stay there was not planned but I was grateful just to get a room for the night. There is a complimentary continental breakfast each morning. And some snacks available if you get the munchies at night. Although it was a room located at the lobby level it was quiet. A good value as well. The location for me was good because there is a social event that I attend on Sundays near that hotel.
Apr 01, 2025 · ELIZABETH BETTY GERENAThis stay was awful and the service was not high quality. We arrived on day one to a bed made with the wrong sized fitted sheet. After bringing this up to the front desk they brought us two flat sheets and just handed them over like we needed to make the bed.I called down again to ask that they make the bed while we went to dinner, and they did not. My fiancé and I had to make the bed with two flat sheets around midnight. The next day, the smoke alarm went off with no reason. After about 6 people from staff and maintenance came through, the solution they came up with was to unplug it and wrap it in plastic wrap. This might be the most unsafe thing I have ever witnessed, putting us in direct danger if a fire actually started. No one even offered some sort of discount or a change of room or some sort of credit.I’ll be working this complaint up through corporate customer service.
May 22, 2025 · Chris BaxterHad better hopes about this hotel. Very small rooms with poor standard. The bathroom was old and dirty. Also you could barely flush the toilet since the water pressure was very poor. You could also hear the neighbours from all sides. We didn't go to the breakfast which was very small and barely had anything.Recommend you put a bit more money in for a better hotel.
