Delight Stay Hotel

53-05 Queens Blvd, Woodside, NY 11377, USA

2.0
This hotel tried to scam my wife and I on our honeymoon. We arrived from out of country and they said our reservation had been canceled… but they could rebook us at the current rate which was 3x the rate we booked at. They then would not let us call Expedia from their lobby which is who we booked through. I ultimately didn’t care as I had an international cellphone plan but I’m sure most people from out of country do not so they know you likely have no recourse. Expedia got involved, no on canceled anything at any point and Expedia made them honour our reservation and rate. We then went out for supper and came back 2 hours later. While walking through the lobby I heard the same lady at the counter giving the same word for word scam to a lady who just arrived from Holland. Oh, and I would hope it was out of retaliation and they have much better rooms but the room we were given was in the basement and probably the 2nd worst room I’ve ever stayed in. - mm kk

Delight Stay Hotel Introduce

For New Yorkers and visitors alike, navigating the diverse landscape of accommodations across our vibrant city can be a significant part of planning any stay, whether for personal travel or hosting out-of-town guests. Every establishment contributes to the fabric of its neighborhood, offering a unique set of circumstances that are important to understand before making a booking. Located in Woodside, Queens, at 53-05 Queens Blvd, what was once known as the Delight Stay Hotel has recently undergone significant changes in its operational status. It is crucial for anyone considering this address for a stay to be fully informed about its current function and the local context. Our aim here is to provide a factual, comprehensive overview for New Yorkers, offering insights from a local perspective to help you make the most informed decision. Understanding the true nature of a location is paramount in a city as dynamic as ours, where neighborhoods are constantly evolving.

The property at 53-05 Queens Blvd in Woodside has a history as a hotel, but recent community feedback indicates a shift in its primary use. What was formerly advertised as the Delight Stay Hotel has, according to local residents, transitioned into operating as a shelter. This change is a significant point of information for anyone searching for traditional hotel accommodations. The Queens Boulevard corridor in Woodside is a busy commercial and residential artery, providing various services and access points to other parts of Queens and Manhattan. Being situated on a major boulevard typically offers advantages in terms of connectivity, but the current operational status of the property at this address means the experience may differ significantly from what one would expect from a conventional hotel. We encourage anyone looking for a temporary stay in Woodside to consider this information carefully, as it directly impacts the type of environment and services you might encounter.

The property identified at 53-05 Queens Blvd, Woodside, NY 11377, USA, benefits from its location on Queens Boulevard, a major thoroughfare that connects various neighborhoods across Queens. This strategic position offers considerable advantages in terms of accessibility for New Yorkers and visitors navigating the borough.

For public transportation users, the location is generally well-served. Queens Boulevard is a primary route for several MTA bus lines, providing easy connections to different parts of Woodside, Elmhurst, and beyond. Additionally, the building is typically within walking distance or a short bus ride from subway stations. The 7 train, which runs along Roosevelt Avenue, is a key subway line for this area, offering direct access to Midtown Manhattan and other significant Queens destinations. This makes the property relatively convenient for those relying on the city's extensive public transit network.

If you are traveling by car, Queens Boulevard offers direct routes. However, as is common in many dense New York City neighborhoods, street parking can be challenging to find and may be limited, particularly during peak hours. Potential visitors should anticipate this and plan accordingly, possibly considering ride-sharing services or looking for commercial parking garages in the wider Woodside area if long-term parking is required. The proximity to major roadways such as the Long Island Expressway and the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway also offers relatively straightforward access for those driving from other parts of the city or beyond. It's important for New Yorkers to recognize that while the location is central and well-connected, the surrounding environment on a major boulevard can be busy, and the current operational status of the building should factor into expectations regarding the immediate vicinity.

Based on recent public feedback and reports from local residents, it is imperative to clarify that the establishment at 53-05 Queens Blvd, Woodside, NY 11377, which was previously known as the Delight Stay Hotel, is now reportedly functioning as a shelter. Therefore, the traditional "services offered" by a typical hotel are not applicable in the expected manner. Instead, the services provided would align with the operational model of a shelter facility, catering to its residents.

It is important for locals seeking standard hotel amenities to understand this distinction. For a shelter, services would typically include:

  • Temporary Accommodation: Providing a place to stay for individuals or families in need of shelter.
  • Basic Living Necessities: Access to fundamental facilities such as beds, bathrooms, and potentially communal areas.
  • Social Services Support: Often, shelters work in conjunction with city agencies or non-profits to provide support services to their residents, which might include case management, referrals to healthcare, employment assistance, or housing navigation.
  • Security: Measures to ensure the safety and security of the residents within the facility.

It is crucial to reiterate that these services are vastly different from what one would anticipate from a commercial hotel. There would likely be no concierge service, room service, daily housekeeping on a guest-by-guest basis, or other amenities typically associated with a hotel stay (e.g., fitness centers, business centers, in-house restaurants/bars for public use). New Yorkers considering this address should be aware that the environment and amenities will reflect its current use as a shelter, not a commercial hotel. This distinction is vital for setting accurate expectations and avoiding potential misunderstandings for those seeking traditional hotel accommodations in Woodside.

Given that the property at 53-05 Queens Blvd, Woodside, NY 11377, is reportedly operating as a shelter rather than a commercial hotel, the "features and highlights" would be viewed from the perspective of its current function and impact on the local community, rather than traditional hotel amenities. It's important for New Yorkers to understand these aspects.

  • Community Resource: The primary highlight, in its current capacity, is its role as a resource for the city in providing shelter to those in need. This contributes to addressing homelessness, a significant societal challenge.
  • Adaptation of Urban Space: The transformation of a former hotel into a shelter highlights the adaptability of urban infrastructure to meet evolving community needs, especially in a densely populated area like Queens.
  • Proximity to Transit: Its location on Queens Boulevard, a major artery, offers relatively easy access to public transportation (buses and subway lines), which is beneficial for residents who rely on public transit for daily needs.
  • Local Impact: From a local resident's perspective, the building's operations inevitably impact the immediate block and surrounding neighborhood. Community feedback has highlighted concerns regarding noise, smoking, and increased police presence. These are current features of the local environment around the site that residents should be aware of.
  • Neighborhood Context: The property is situated across the street from a cemetery, which is a fixed feature of the local landscape and contributes to the immediate visual and environmental context of the address.

It is critical for New Yorkers to approach this address with accurate expectations, understanding that its current operational model as a shelter means the "features" are centered on its social function and its integration into the local community, rather than offering typical hotel comforts or guest experiences. This transparency is key to managing expectations for anyone researching accommodations or simply understanding the local landscape in Woodside.

Given the current operational status of the property at 53-05 Queens Blvd, Woodside, NY 11377, as a reported shelter rather than a traditional commercial hotel, there are no "promotions or special offers" available to the general public in the manner one would expect from a hospitality business. The concept of special rates, seasonal discounts, loyalty programs, or package deals is not applicable here.

The "offers" provided by this establishment, in its capacity as a shelter, are directed towards its residents through specific city programs or partnerships. These are not publicly advertised promotions for commercial stays. Any services or provisions are administered through the relevant city agencies responsible for social services and homeless initiatives.

Therefore, for New Yorkers looking for hotel accommodations with promotional rates or special offers, this particular address would not be a relevant option. Any inquiries regarding assistance from a shelter perspective would need to go through official city channels or relevant social service organizations, not directly to the property as if it were a hotel accepting walk-in commercial bookings or offering promotional rates. This distinction is crucial for clear and accurate information for anyone in the New York area.

Given that the property at 53-05 Queens Blvd, Woodside, NY 11377, USA, is reportedly operating as a shelter rather than a commercial hotel, the contact information provided below is primarily for general inquiries that might relate to its previous operational status or for information about the property itself. For any specific inquiries related to its current function as a shelter, or for those seeking shelter services, it would be more appropriate to contact the relevant New York City agencies that manage such facilities, rather than attempting to book a stay directly.

Address: 53-05 Queens Blvd, Woodside, NY 11377, USA

Phone: (718) 205-1400

Mobile Phone: +1 718-205-1400

It is important to reiterate that these phone numbers, while publicly listed for the address, may primarily serve the administrative needs of its current operation or previous business. For New Yorkers seeking hotel accommodations or specific information about booking a room, based on current local reports, this address is not a suitable point of contact for traditional hotel reservations. For assistance related to shelter services, contacting NYC's Department of Homeless Services or calling 311 would be the appropriate first step.

For New Yorkers, understanding the true nature of a location is crucial for making informed decisions, especially when it comes to accommodations. The property at 53-05 Queens Blvd in Woodside, previously known as the Delight Stay Hotel, is reportedly operating as a shelter. This fundamental shift in its function means it is not suitable for locals, or anyone else, looking for a traditional hotel experience. The reasons for its unsuitability are clear.

Firstly, the services and environment provided by a shelter are inherently different from those of a commercial hotel. You would not find typical hotel amenities such as room service, concierge support, daily housekeeping for transient guests, or recreational facilities. The focus of a shelter is to provide temporary housing and basic support for individuals in need, not to offer hospitality services to paying guests.

Secondly, community feedback from local residents has highlighted significant concerns regarding the property's operation as a shelter. Reports of increased noise, smoking issues, and a noticeable rise in police presence on the block directly impact the peace and comfort of the immediate neighborhood. For anyone seeking a quiet, comfortable, and predictable stay, these reported conditions are highly deterrent. The close proximity to a cemetery also contributes to the immediate visual context, which, combined with the reported operational issues, may not align with typical expectations for a hotel stay.

In conclusion, while the address 53-05 Queens Blvd is indeed located in Woodside, Queens, and is accessible by public transport, it is critically important for New Yorkers to understand that it is currently functioning as a shelter. Therefore, it is definitively not suitable for individuals or families looking for hotel accommodations for leisure, business, or hosting purposes. Those seeking a traditional hotel experience in Woodside or the surrounding Queens area should explore other establishments that are actively operating as commercial hotels to ensure their needs and expectations are met. Transparency regarding the true nature of local establishments helps everyone make better, more informed choices within our dynamic city.
