Harbor House Bed & Breakfast Reviews
My first stay, but not the last. I stayed here for the 5 Borough Bike Tour - maybe the best decision I've made in the past 6 years other than retiring. Budget friendly, great location. Noisy at night with local passing traffic. Mo is a prince, very helpful, and manages well.
May 04, 2025 · Byron OrdwayI stayed at the Harbor House Bed and Breakfast a few nights ago. I am a woman and was traveling alone. The hotel is located conveniently at the end of Hylan Blvd. on Staten Island, across from the historical Alice Austen House and a few minute walk from the s51 bus stop on Hylan Blvd. and Bay Street. When I got to the hotel I noticed right away that is was very quaint and old-fashioned, it reminded me a lot of the inside of the Conference House as the rooms are furnished and looked like they have not been touched since the 1700s-1800s-very early 1900s which adds to the mystique and very hard to find today old-world charm. At first I was supposed to be in a king room with a shared bathroom that I had booked through an online site. When I got to the room I noticed there was no physical lock on the door, you had to pull it shut and it locked on its own. When I expressed my concern about this to the owner he was very understanding and was extremely friendly and more than accommodating. He promptly moved me to another room which appeared to be a suite, which included a lock on the door, it had its own bathroom and even had its own sitting area where I could look out the window at breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline and the Verrazano Bridge on both sides. The Bed and Breakfast also includes breakfast in the morning, if for whatever reason guests do not want the breakfast they can be refunded $10 by the manager. I have included pictures from the view from my room. I had a good nights sleep, a very comfortable stay and beautiful views to make it a once in a lifetime experience and memory. Would definitely recommend, especially to celebrate for a special occasion with a loved one or to experience a historical adventure whether you are coming from far or are close to home.
Jan 16, 2025 · JaclynGreat location! Quick drive to the ferry and really nice views of the NY skyline and Verrazzano bridge. Moe, the inn keeper, was so accommodating! He made sure we were able to get in upon arrival when he was out of the house and provided very early coffee and breakfast items when we had to leave at 6:30am one morning. The house is old, rooms are not fancy at all and need updating, but clean, good mattress, a hot shower, and the price is right!
Oct 13, 2023 · Stephanie RThe location was easily accessible by public transit or by car. The ferry ride to Manhattan was great. The house and rooms themselves are quite nice, good value for money, and the host is very easy going. I enjoyed the view of the sunrise over the Hudson River illuminating the skyscrapers every morning, and the multiple ships in the water. I would definitely stay here again
Sep 17, 2023 · Philip HolzgangHate to say much -- don't want it to be overrun with tourists .Sorry Moe's, you're GREAT!!!CANT RECOMMEND MORE HIGHLY!! SO Not Fancy, but if you don't mind a shared bath (for each floor).I know there's one Primary.suite.we weren't in it..Lino floors a little bit grime on comfy.armchair---- But the MATTRESS was like the best of my life!!! And so said 6 others who happily shared a terrifically generous cont. Breakfast. VeryCopascetic Amiable host guest were interesti.g too. And you're on the edge of Alice.Austen House& gardens/ so tremendous views AND its.LGBTQIA friendly area. You can walk 2 little blocks to an amazing Italian ish fusionish restaurant , half the price of Manhattan. You're only.a short quick bus to the ferry toManhattan or the best and freest view of the Statue of 🗽 Liberty
