I travel frequently for work and spend nearly a quarter of the year in hotels, so I know what to expect in terms of basic comfort and functionality—and this hotel fell far short.The elevators were painfully slow, often taking 10 to 20 minutes just to get to my floor or back down to the lobby. Completely inefficient and frustrating, especially when you're on a schedule. Read other reviews, I am far from the minority in this.The room wasn’t much better. The bathroom sliding door had a broken handle, which made using it awkward. The AC unit shut off automatically every two hours, which meant I woke up repeatedly throughout the night, overheated and having to get up just to turn it back on—definitely not ideal when you're trying to get rest for a workday.To top it off, the TV remote didn’t work. I had to continuously tap the buttons to get them to maybe register before it would back out to the home screen.As someone who spends a significant amount of time in hotels, I can confidently say this was one of the more frustrating stays I’ve had. I would not return, and I don’t recommend it.

One they sometimes had a staff member operating (like in old times). Calling one to get down from the 11th floor only worked if you called the desk and when they were busy they wouldn't pick up. They said they were doing repairs from flooding, so in a month it might be better.

The room was comfortable but needed some maintenance; the shower safety bar was poorly attached and one of the drawers was broken.What everyone says about the elevators is completely true: there is not nearly enough capacity for the building, and they seem to be constantly breaking down. Apparently a few drunk guys pressing a lot of buttons in the largest one was enough to force it out of service for most of our stay. Priorities seem to be misplaced by corporate, as they should have spared no expense to get the elevator up and running as quickly as possible. Instead, they were happy to pay a Hilton employee to stand around in the lobby and try to get us to book a "reduced cost" stay for a timeshare presentation.They tried to charge us $6 for the bottles of water in the room that we didn't touch. Since they immediately refunded us when I called after seeing the final receipt, I'll choose to chalk this up to a miscommunication by the cleaning staff and not an attempt to get more money out of us.If the elevator issues were resolved, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, as the location is truly unbeatable.

It’s the fact that the elevator took 15 mins to stop on my floor and I heard it passing multiple times. I would take the stairs going down but coming up was more difficult. Then when it was time to leave I had my suitcase and heavy bags and that’s when I waited 15 mins because only 1 and a half elevators were working, at one point only one was. Then my toilet stopped working and was over flowing so I had to let the front desk know and the maintenance person came quick and he was super nice so I was very happy about that but it did ruin some dinner plans. I also left with some serious allergies and a nose cold, which while waiting for the elevator I heard the same from other people staying at the hotel that they also felt some bad allergies. Overall, staff were super friendly but I think the building needs some maintenance. The hotel is in a great location.

In our room (1409), we had problems with the shower diverter—the dial would shift on its own unless wet and heated—and the toilet constantly ran after flushing. Several others in our group reported similar toilet issues. There was also a loose toilet paper holder and a window that wouldn’t latch properly, causing a draft. The rooms were clean and fairly modern, but quite small, especially with four college students sharing two double beds. That part was on us for booking room types that weren’t ideal for our group size, but it's worth noting for larger parties. Additionally, the on-site Wifi was simply unusable due to how slow it was.One of the biggest operational concerns was the elevator system. With only three small elevators that are frequently mentioned in past reviews as unreliable, we were not surprised when one or more were intermittently out of service. For a high-occupancy property, this created delays and inconvenience. It’s clear this issue has persisted over time and needs to be prioritized by management.That said, the service was fantastic. From check-in to departure, staff were welcoming, helpful, and efficient—even with a large group like ours. The standout moment, however, came on our final night.At approximately 12:30 a.m., a major water main burst on the third floor, directly impacting many members of our group. What followed was something I never expected to see firsthand: water pouring from ceilings in all four corners of the lobby, streams coming down from the elevator shafts, and chaos throughout the building. Even with all of this unfolding, the single front desk agent on duty handled the situation with remarkable composure.She remained calm, professional, and responsive under immense pressure—fielding calls, coordinating help, and dealing with a lobby full of stressed and displaced guests. Some demanded immediate relocation to other hotels, while others were simply looking for answers, but she handled all of it with grace. Her commitment and clear-headedness during such an extreme, late-night emergency was nothing short of admirable.By morning, the lobby was impressively cleaned up, water was restored to the unaffected floors, and the staff had a plan for checkouts despite all elevators being out of service. Guests were kept informed and supported through an incident that no one could have predicted. As students studying hospitality, we were in awe—not just of the situation, but of how well the team rose to the occasion.While this hotel has some operational shortcomings that justify a 3-star rating, the staff deserve 5 stars—especially the front desk associate working alone that night. I didn’t catch her name, but she absolutely deserves recognition for her professionalism, poise, and commitment to guest care in a truly difficult situation.Thank you to the Hilton Garden Inn team for handling the unimaginable with grace.
