Hotel 57 Reviews
The hotel is wonderful, with a great location if you're planning to explore the city on foot. The staff was very friendly overall, from the Front Office team to Housekeeping. The hotel itself is a bit old, but well maintained. And although it could really use a "facelift," it's functional. Breakfast was very good. When you're heading out to walk around afterward, you're not looking for a big meal but something quick to take with you that won’t leave you feeling stuffed. For us, the experience was fantastic.
Apr 10, 2025 · Carlos GonzálezThis is nothing but a place to have an accessible bathroom and bed. The elevators are very busy and take a very long to get into. Then when you try the stairs it’s confusing and creepy. Some things that I disliked about the room is my room didn’t have a mini fridge or microwave, which the deceptive marketing and made it seem like would come with the room. Another issue with the room is there is no way to air the room out. No windows open AT ALL, and there are no vents. Therefore, it causes the room to be steamy after showers and no fresh air. However, the location of the hotel is great, the water is hot and the beds are comfortable. The gym is also nice, not many machines but there are weights and cardio machines. I wouldn’t stay here again but it’s a great location and a place to sleep.
Apr 18, 2025 · Natalie PackerI checked in on the morning of Friday, May 17. I had booked through Booking.com, and the hotel had sent me a message stating that early check-in was possible if there was availability. However, when I arrived, I was greeted in the worst way possible. A man—chubby, probably in his 50s—without any greeting, immediately yelled at me saying, “We don’t have early check-in!” I calmly mentioned that I had received a message through Booking, and he shouted back that “Booking shouldn’t tell you that. We don’t follow Booking!” The tone was unnecessarily aggressive, and it was a horrible first impression. It was my first time in NYC, and this was the first hotel I stayed in—so it truly made me feel disappointed and sad. The hotel itself is decent, and the location is convenient, but it is definitely not a 4-star experience. Considering the price, you can find better options in the area that offer both better service and value.
May 20, 2025 · Karina Sanchez GThis hotel was a great choice for my trip to New York! The location is unbeatable – just a short walk to Central Park, Times Square, and Broadway. Whether you’re into sightseeing, shopping, or catching a show, everything is right around the corner. For such a central spot, the value for money was excellent. The room was simply furnished – clean, quiet, and had everything I needed. Nothing over the top, but comfortable and functional, which suited me perfectly. If you’re looking for a well-located, no-fuss hotel at a fair price, this is a solid pick. I’d definitely stay here again.
Apr 20, 2025 · Al BertoHotel 57 was a huge disappointment. This was the result of noise, the front desk staff, and the lack of certain amenities. Considering this hotel was listed as a 4-star property, it was surprising that the room did not have a refrigerator or microwave. Even some budget motels will sometimes have these items.WARNING: My initial room on the 11th floor was right next to an elevator shaft. Every time the elevator was used, the adjacent room wall would vibrate, and you could hear the cables and machinery working. It was so consistently loud that it prevented the ability to sleep, so I had repack my luggage and request another room away from the elevators. This is a serious design flaw in the building. One of the staff members confirmed to me that there were certain known rooms in the hotel that suffer excessive elevator noise due to their proximity to the elevator shafts.Dealing with the front desk staff was a challenge. I dealt with one staff member who was polite but curiously unsympathetic to my noise issue and reluctant to help me move to a quieter room. When I requested to change rooms, she first questioned me about how long my stay was, which seemed irrelevant. She then told me that a move would be difficult since they had more guests arriving later, which again seemed not only irrelevant but also demeaning as if the guests arriving later were more important than the guest standing right in front of her. She eventually relented and I was able to change rooms. Their customer service is terrible and combative even if you have a legitimate issue.I do not in any way recommend this hotel, but if you are staying here, at least be sure to ask for a room away from the hotel elevators.
