The Lombardy Introduce
For New Yorkers seeking a refined and remarkably spacious retreat in the bustling heart of Midtown East, The Lombardy Hotel stands as an exceptional choice. This distinguished 4-star boutique hotel, steeped in rich history since its establishment in 1926 by the legendary William Randolph Hearst, offers a unique alternative to the typical New York hotel experience. Unlike many contemporary establishments, The Lombardy retains an air of classic elegance and understated luxury, prioritizing comfort and ample space over flashy, transient trends. It’s the kind of place that resonates with locals planning a luxurious staycation, business travelers desiring a residential feel, or families needing room to breathe during their Manhattan visit. Its charm lies in its ability to offer a "great hotel" experience that is "more low-key than some," yet supremely "comfortable," as noted by a satisfied guest.
The Lombardy truly distinguishes itself with its commitment to providing generously sized accommodations, a rarity in the city's compact hotel landscape. Many of its suites are designed to feel more like private apartments than standard hotel rooms, complete with separate living areas and kitchenettes, offering a practical and comfortable environment for extended stays or for families. This "apartment-style" living, combined with the hotel's warm and highly personalized service, creates an inviting atmosphere that encourages guests to truly "spread out" and feel at home. While one reviewer mentioned that some furniture could use updating, they quickly emphasized that "everything was clean and very comfortable, which matters most." This focus on the essentials – comfort, cleanliness, and excellent service – ensures a genuinely pleasant and repeatable stay, making The Lombardy a highly recommended destination for anyone looking to "explore Manhattan and surroundings" from a spacious and convenient base.
The Lombardy Hotel boasts an enviable and highly convenient address: 111 E 56th St, New York, NY 10022, USA. This prime location places it squarely in Midtown East, one of Manhattan's most desirable and well-connected neighborhoods. Its position on East 56th Street provides a superb balance, offering easy access to the city's major attractions while being on a slightly quieter side street compared to the busier avenues.
For New Yorkers and visitors alike, the accessibility of The Lombardy is a significant advantage. The hotel is within exceptionally easy walking distance of multiple major subway lines, making navigation across Manhattan effortless. As highlighted by a satisfied guest, the location is "excellent," just a "10-minute walk to Central Park." Other key attractions are also readily accessible: Fifth Avenue's luxury shopping is just a short stroll away, and major cultural institutions and business hubs are within easy reach. The reviewer also noted that there are "loot of dining options around this hotel," underscoring its walkability to numerous restaurants and bars. While parking is "one block away from the hotel," for most New Yorkers, leveraging the city's extensive public transit network is the preferred method of travel. The hotel’s proximity to subway stations (such as the E, M trains at Lexington Av/53 St and N, Q, R, W at 59th St/Lexington Av) means that whether you're heading to a Broadway show, a business meeting, or exploring a new neighborhood, your journey from The Lombardy will be remarkably convenient.

The Lombardy Reviews
The Lombardy is a great hotel, more low-key than some, without the large reception area, but with very comfortable rooms. We stayed in one of their Manhattan Suites, which offered plenty of space: a kitchenette, a separate living area, and a generously sized bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. While the suite was definitely nice, some of the furniture could use a bit of an update, as it’s clearly seen better days. That said, everything was clean and very comfortable, which matters most. The location is excellent, just a 10-minute walk to Central Park, and surrounded by a wide selection of bars and restaurants (though that’s probably true of most places in New York!). The staff were pleasant, helpful, and genuinely friendly. All in all, a really pleasant stay—and one I’d happily repeat.
Apr 25, 2025 · AntonioStayed at this hotel for our recent trip to NYC. Great location and super spacious rooms heart of Manhattan area. Walkable distance many attractions. Apr 29, 2025 · Travel WandererLove this place. Rooms are clean and spacious. Staff is so accommodating. Definitely coming back to this place anytime I am in NY. Best place I have stayed at for the price. 5 stars! Thank you!
May 11, 2025 · Robert MillerI booked a 2 king bed room and received a1 king and 1 queen. I asked to rectify the issue multiple times to no avail. The staff was friendly at arrival with help for luggage and accommodation. The same cannot be said for the departure, in particular the doorman didn't even care we had to get the luggage up the stairs with kids. Not our first stay at this hotel and not sure if it would stay there any more.
Mar 18, 2025 · Gregorio S.Traveled here for a work trip and had a fantastic experience. The hotel had everything I needed to feel a little more at home. Location was ideal - steps to shopping, Central Park, Broadway - it's right in the middle of everything. The hotel used to be an apartment building so every room is a bit different. The room I stayed in was fabulous, spacious, and well-appointed. Hotel staff was more than willing to help out with anything you might be missing as well. The staff was excellent - friendly, helpful, kind, courteous - from the doorman to housekeeping staff they were top notch.I can't say enough great things about this place. It's impeccably clean, the rooms spacious and value is off the charts. I highly recommend this hotel.
