Howard Johnson by Wyndham Brooklyn Introduce
The Howard Johnson by Wyndham Brooklyn, located at 524 Rockaway Avenue in Brooklyn, NY 11212, offers a functional and accessible accommodation option for travelers seeking to explore the vibrant borough of Brooklyn. While not a "Scenic Spot" in the traditional sense of a natural landmark, this hotel serves as a practical and often budget-friendly base from which guests can venture out and experience the many cultural, recreational, and historical "scenic spots" that Brooklyn has to offer. Its position aims to provide convenience for those whose itinerary centers around exploring the diverse tapestry of the borough.
The environment surrounding the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Brooklyn is quintessentially urban. Rockaway Avenue is a busy thoroughfare, reflecting the dynamic energy of Brooklyn. The hotel is situated within a residential and commercial area, offering guests an authentic immersion into a local Brooklyn neighborhood. This setting means that while the immediate surroundings might not be picturesque parks, they offer a direct connection to everyday Brooklyn life, with local shops, eateries, and public transportation options readily available. The accessibility to public transit is a significant environmental advantage, as the Rockaway Avenue subway station is within close proximity. This allows guests to easily navigate not just Brooklyn but also access Manhattan and other New York City boroughs. Being in a residential zone can also mean a more localized experience, away from the more tourist-heavy areas, providing a different perspective on Brooklyn.
In terms of services, the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Brooklyn, as a recognized brand within the Wyndham portfolio, adheres to certain standards of hospitality, typically offering essential amenities and a focus on practicality. Guests can expect a 24-hour front desk, providing round-the-clock assistance for check-ins, check-outs, and any inquiries. Complimentary Wi-Fi is generally available in both public areas and guest rooms, which is a crucial service for modern travelers to stay connected, plan their daily excursions to scenic spots, or conduct any necessary business. While specific dining options within the hotel may be limited, many Howard Johnson properties offer a complimentary continental breakfast, providing a convenient start to the day. Daily housekeeping services ensure that rooms are kept clean and comfortable throughout a guest's stay. The availability of an ATM/cash machine and vending machines for snacks and beverages adds to the convenience for guests.
The features of the rooms at Howard Johnson by Wyndham Brooklyn are designed for comfort and functionality, catering to travelers who prioritize a safe and clean place to rest. Guest rooms typically include air conditioning, flat-screen televisions with cable channels for entertainment, and private bathrooms with shower/tub combinations. Practical amenities often found in the rooms include refrigerators and coffee/tea makers, which are convenient for storing snacks or preparing hot beverages. Irons and ironing boards are also commonly provided. Soundproofed rooms, while not explicitly guaranteed for every room, are a feature that some budget hotels incorporate to mitigate urban noise, contributing to a more restful sleep. The hotel often provides non-smoking rooms to cater to guest preferences. As highlighted by a customer review, the rooms are described as "small but clean and all I needed to sleep in safe place," indicating a focus on essential comfort rather than expansive luxury.
The phone numbers, (800) 553-5339 and +1 800-553-5339, are consistent with central reservations for Wyndham properties, indicating that guests can reach a general reservation line for booking or inquiries, a standard service provided by major hotel chains.
As a hotel operating within the "Scenic Spot" category (implying its role in facilitating access to such spots), the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Brooklyn's primary promotional appeal lies in its affordability and strategic location. For travelers looking to experience Brooklyn's attractions without the high cost of luxury hotels, this establishment presents a compelling value. The customer review highlighting its affordability at "$170 compared to other fancy places for $300!!" strongly reinforces this point. This makes it an attractive option for budget-conscious tourists, solo travelers, or those on business trips who prioritize practicality and convenience over extensive amenities. Promotions could emphasize its proximity to local public transportation, allowing easy access to numerous Brooklyn "scenic spots." For instance, it's conveniently located near subway access to destinations such as the Jewish Children's Museum, which is a significant local attraction, and Brower Park. The Brooklyn Children's Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Prospect Park, and Barclays Center are all within a reasonable commute, making the hotel a suitable base for exploring these popular landmarks.
Marketing efforts could focus on its role as a "smart choice for you who are looking for affordable accommodation with outstanding service." Highlighting the "helpful" and "fantastic" staff, as noted in a positive review, can build trust and attract guests who value good customer service. Special offers could include packages tailored to first-time Brooklyn visitors, perhaps including maps or guides to nearby cultural institutions and parks accessible via the subway. Seasonal promotions could also draw attention, for example, emphasizing its suitability for visitors attending events at Barclays Center or exploring Prospect Park during its vibrant spring or autumn seasons. While one review did mention a negative experience with pricing and room size ("$280. For one night check in at 115am check out will be 11am stupid me ask for and additional night they told me $300. Never in this life time go back 😪 it terrible and small good luck tumsdown ..."), it's important to present a balanced view, acknowledging that affordability can sometimes come with trade-offs in room size, and pricing can fluctuate based on demand. For potential guests, managing expectations regarding room dimensions might be prudent, but its core value proposition remains clear: a safe, clean, and well-located option for exploring Brooklyn on a budget.
In conclusion, the Howard Johnson by Wyndham Brooklyn at 524 Rockaway Avenue serves as a practical and affordable lodging option that directly supports the exploration of Brooklyn's diverse "Scenic Spots." Its urban environment offers authentic local immersion, while its services provide essential comforts and convenience. The hotel's features focus on providing a clean and secure base, and its promotional appeal lies in its value for money and excellent transit access to the borough's many attractions. It is a solid choice for travelers who seek a functional hotel stay as a launching pad for their Brooklyn adventures.

It was great. The room was perfect location for my shopping day in Brooklyn. It was small but clean and all I needed to sleep in safe place. It was so affordable at $170 compared to other fancy places for $300!! The young college student at desk was so helpful. Fantastic! Thank you! Lisa 😊

Sep 10, 2024 · Joel McqueenVery Comfortable! The manager extended his hospitality and allowed us to leave our luggage at the front desk office to prevent us from having to carry it in and out of the restaurant s while we had lunch. Very kind Sir. Thanks and we enjoyed our stay and time in NYC.
Sep 22, 2017 · Wendy ThompsonThe establishment, prima facie, is slightly sketchy - a notion reinforced by the multitude of signs prohibiting criminal behaviour. However, this resident found the room to be clean and comfortable, albeit small. The bathroom was also quite hygienic. The quality of the sheets and pillows were lacking, but for the price they were more than fair.
Aug 20, 2017 · Oishik RayI won't base my rating on the location because the heavy traffic around the area isn't the hotel's fault, but be aware that this hotel is in Brownsville Brooklyn. It isn't really convenient to any airports, parking is typical NY parking, and the rooms are very tiny. What my rating is based on:1. I was asked to pay cash for the room when I arrived. I was told that their CC machine was sometimes charging guests twice so cash was better for them. This made me uneasy, but then I realized I probably don't want the staff to have access to my credit card info anyway. The hotel has an ATM but only $200 can be withdrawn at a time, so I had to pay the $3 ATM fee three times in order to pay the full amount of the room.2. The rooms and the halls smelled of cigarettes and marijuana.3. I asked to be on a higher floor but was told by the front desk gentleman that it was too loud up there & was instead put in a room near the entrance & across from the housekeeping supply room. The entire stay, I had to deal with street noise right outside my window, guests and/or vagrants coming in and out, ppl talking loud at all times of the day and night, & housekeeping staff opening and closing the supply door starting at 4am each morning.4. My room was only semi-clean. There were strands of hair in the bathroom, bathtub, and on one of the wash cloths. There was also a food plate still in the refrigerator from the previous guest.5. I was told I couldn't have guests in my room & I had to meet any guests in the lobby. Excuse me? This isn't jail or a shelter. I paid for my room, therefore I should be able to entertain whomever whenever, and I did.The one good thing - the shower.
