- Basic Room Accommodation: Rooms are described as having "just enough extra space for luggage" and being suitable for "chill or sleep," suggesting a focus on basic comfort rather than extensive amenities.

This affordability is a key feature, allowing visitors to allocate more of their budget to experiencing the city itself.
- Cleanliness (Generally): Customer reviews indicate that the "Facilities are clean," which is a crucial aspect for any accommodation. While some minor issues may occur, the overall emphasis on cleanliness is a positive and essential feature for guest comfort.
- Suitable for Short Stays: The descriptions of the rooms being adequate for "chill or sleep" and the lack of organized events suggest that this residence is well-suited for guests who primarily need a place to rest between exploring the city. For those on a tight schedule or planning to spend most of their time outside, its functional nature is a highlight.
It's important to manage expectations regarding noise, as mentioned in reviews ("walls don't reach the ceiling," "neighbor noises are more annoying"), but for travelers prioritizing location and budget, these are often manageable trade-offs.
As a student residence or a budget-focused accommodation, the International Students Residence typically does not advertise frequent or grand "promotions or special offers" in the same way a luxury hotel might. Their pricing strategy is generally built around consistent affordability. However, potential promotions or offers might include:
- Long-Term Stay Discounts: For students or individuals needing accommodation for extended periods, there might be reduced rates for stays of a week, a month, or longer. This is common in residence-style lodging.
- Off-Peak Season Rates: During less busy travel periods (e.g., specific times in winter or early spring, excluding holidays), rates might be slightly lower.
- Group Discounts: For educational groups or larger parties, there could be special arrangements or discounted rates.
- Direct Booking Incentives: Sometimes, booking directly through their website or phone might offer a slightly better rate than through third-party booking platforms.

International Students Residence Reviews
Stayed here four night. Restrooms were relatively clean 4/5. On the last night noticed smears on vanity mirror in restroom. Should be clean more frequently. Most people will not mind nearby train noises, I didn't.The neighbor noises are more annoying but usually they quiet down after a while. The walls don't reach the ceiling so noises can be heard between rooms.I was in a two-bedroom room. Just enough extra space for luggage. You won't want to stay inside, if not to chill or sleep. This hostel didn't have organized events or tours like others do.
Mar 25, 2019 · IsmaelRooms were just chipboard that did not extend to the ceiling. This allowed every bit of conversation and noise to be heard from all rooms on the floor. People did not have to be loud for their conversations to be heard, the sound just travelled. This would be fine if specified in the description of the place but it is left out. If looking for a place to sleep for one night it is fine but for the price I would look elsewhere.Facilities are clean, however, just too noisy to get a good sleep because of this design.
Jan 14, 2019 · Harrison GGood value !What's really cool there is that it's just next to the underground station (Marcy Av), but it's also the only downside about this place : It's literally under the subway line. However, inside the building, it is perfectly isolated from the outside noise. The bathroom was very clean, and the rooms are actually well designed. You can leave your stuff in the room since there are only 2 beds in the rooms AND there's a key to enter.Overall great bang for the buck, I would recommend it hands down.
Mar 08, 2018 · MBSThis hostel is very clean, but the layout is cramped and chaotic. On the first floor is check-in and a small waiting area. Floors two and three are rooms, but the walls do not go all the way to the ceiling (like a bathroom stall), so you can hear the neighbors snoring, getting freaky, and their light shines into your room. The rooms are the size of a bunk bed plus maybe two feet on one side. The open kitchen and common area is next door through an outside entrance, and is very nice. The location is very close to the subway, which is convenient but also somewhat loud. Overall a decent place in Brooklyn.
May 22, 2019 · Shard MilneThe place is very nice and we'll maintained. The staff can seem rather snobbish and aren't always the most friendly. I booked a single room and was given the key and I lugged my 100 pounds of luggage up 3 flights of stairs only to find a man sleeping in my single room. Back down the stairs I went and luckily the gave me another room on the second floor, but I can't fathom how you don't know someone is asleep in one if your "clean" rooms.
