La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Queens (New York City) Introduce
La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Queens (New York City), located at 37-18 Queens Boulevard, Long Island City, NY 11101, positions itself as a 'Scenic Spot' not in the traditional sense of picturesque beauty, but rather as a strategically placed gateway for urban exploration. Its primary allure as a 'Scenic Spot' lies in its unparalleled accessibility to the vast scenic and cultural attractions of New York City, particularly Manhattan, making it a functional and practical base for travelers prioritizing convenience and ease of transit. While the hotel itself may not be a visual landmark, its proximity to critical transportation arteries and vibrant neighborhoods transforms it into a launchpad for experiencing the dynamic "scenery" of the metropolis.
The environment surrounding La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Queens is typical of an urban commercial thoroughfare. Queens Boulevard is a major artery, characterized by a mix of commercial establishments, residential buildings, and other hotels. This means guests can expect a bustling environment, with the constant hum of city life, including traffic noise. While not a serene, leafy retreat, the immediate surroundings offer practical amenities. There are likely a variety of dining options, from casual eateries to fast-food chains, within walking distance, catering to diverse culinary needs. Convenience stores and other essential services are also usually readily available in such urban settings. The most significant aspect of its environment, contributing to its 'Scenic Spot' category, is its direct proximity to public transportation. As noted in customer reviews, the hotel is "right beside the 7 line," a crucial subway connection that offers rapid access to Manhattan and other parts of Queens. This accessibility effectively makes the entire city the "scenery" for guests, easily reachable within minutes. However, it's important to note that urban environments can also present challenges, such as the presence of litter or, as mentioned in customer feedback, issues with the cleanliness of the parking lot and sightings of rats, which are unfortunately not uncommon in dense city areas.
In terms of services, La Quinta Inn by Wyndham, as a brand, typically aims to provide fundamental hotel services to ensure a comfortable stay. This generally includes a front desk for check-in and check-out, housekeeping, and basic room amenities. However, based on recent customer reviews, there appear to be significant discrepancies between advertised services and the actual experience. A core service, often expected at a La Quinta Inn, is complimentary breakfast, but a customer explicitly states, "there is no breakfast." Similarly, a gym or fitness center, which is often a standard amenity for this brand, is also reported as non-existent. These are critical omissions that impact the overall guest experience. Other service-related issues highlighted by guests include non-functional in-room phones, preventing contact with the front desk, and faulty TV remotes and volume controls. While one review mentions that "Staff was pretty helpful," this positive aspect appears insufficient to compensate for the fundamental shortcomings in room condition and advertised services. For a 'Scenic Spot' that relies on guest comfort as a launchpad for city exploration, these service failures can significantly detract from the overall value proposition.
The features of La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Queens, in an ideal scenario, would include standard hotel room amenities such as beds, bathrooms, and television. However, customer feedback paints a concerning picture regarding the condition and functionality of these features. Reviews cite broken interior door bars, missing lamp shades, dysfunctional pull-out sofas that are "broken and left halfway in between a bed and sofa," missing battery covers for TV remotes, and broken cabinet doors. The absence of a coffee maker in the rooms, and reportedly in the entire hotel, is another notable feature deficiency. Cleanliness, a paramount feature for any accommodation, is also heavily criticized, with mentions of "dingy sheets," "noticeable dirt on carpet," and "facial hair clippings on the sink." These observations suggest a severe lack of maintenance and quality control, which drastically impacts the guest experience. The only feature consistently praised is the "great water pressure in the shower," which, while positive, is insufficient to salvage the overall negative impression. The presence of a parking lot is a practical feature in an urban setting, although its condition, as described by a guest, is also a concern. Given the critical reviews, the actual features available to guests are far from what one would expect from a reputable hotel brand, undermining its ability to function effectively as a comfortable 'Scenic Spot' base.
Promotional information for La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Queens (New York City) would typically focus on its brand affiliation, implying a certain standard of quality and service, and its prime location for accessing New York City. The hotel's address, 37-18 Queens Blvd, Long Island City, NY 11101, would be central to its promotion, highlighting its proximity to the 7 subway line and rapid transit to Manhattan. The phone numbers, (718) 729-8775 and +1 718-729-8775, would be provided for booking and inquiries, suggesting direct customer service. However, the severe discrepancies between advertised features and actual conditions, as detailed in customer reviews, suggest that current promotional materials may be "inaccurate," as one guest explicitly stated there is "no breakfast and no gym." This mismatch between promotion and reality can lead to significant guest dissatisfaction and negative branding, impacting the hotel's reputation as a reliable 'Scenic Spot' gateway. For a hotel to truly fulfill its role as a 'Scenic Spot' in terms of accessibility and guest satisfaction, it must deliver on the promises made in its promotional materials and ensure basic standards of cleanliness, functionality, and service are met. The strongly negative customer feedback, including a guest checking out early and describing the place as a "disgrace to the Wyndham brand," indicates that current promotional strategies are likely misleading and are not reflective of the guest experience.

La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Queens (New York City) Reviews
this place is the worst. I will just list all the things that were horrible.none of the phones worked in the whole place, no way to call front desk.inside door bar broken off.killed two roaches.tv volume set to very high and no way to turn it down. remote did not work.no coffee maker. not in the whole hotel.pictures and description was inaccurate. there is no breakfast and no gym.Overall room was dirty. noticeable dirt on carpet.we made front desk aware of all these issues. we checked out 3 days early. we even left before 11am checkout on our 3rd day, and they still charged us for that day for early cancellation.this place is a disgrace to the Wyndham brand.
Mar 12, 2023 · Bryan BurnsThe room was very disappointing. The sheets were dingey and we slept on our own blanket. One of two lamps was missing a lamp shade. The pull out sofa wasn't functional as a sofa or a bed. It was broken and left halfway in between a bed and sofa. The TV remote was missing the battery cover. The cabinet door over the fridge was broken off and tucked behind the TV. There were facial hair clippings on the sink. The only reason it gets one star is the water pressure in the shower was great. Otherwise, this place was not worth any amount of money for a vacation. My home is cleaner and in better shape than this room. Location was right beside the 7 line so it was very convenient to get to our venue. Staff was pretty helpful. Doesn't make up for the shape of the room. Parking lot was full of trash and had lots of rats rummaging around.
Feb 10, 2023 · Sarah LaFolletteRead the reviews and believe them. We checked in after paying $50 cash to check in early. We went up to our room which was filthy. The toilet wasn't cleaned or even flushed from the previous visitor. All of the furniture was falling apart. There was mold in the bathroom and stains from some liquid all over the walls of the room. The curtains were broken and the mattress squeaked everytime I breathed. We ended up leaving the same day and didn't receive a refund on our strange cash transaction to check in early. I have plenty of pictures I'll gladly share
Apr 23, 2023 · Brent SavardAbout what I assumed it would be in NYC for the price. Our room was relatively clean and the hotel felt safe. However, our window did not lock, we had to get new key cards two (!!) times because they didn’t work, the lights in the bathroom would flick on and off with a strobe light effect for 10 minutes at a time, and the blow dryer in the room didn’t work. Plus no breakfast available although advertised (“because of the pandemic,” which I totally get, but it’s been two and a half years). And we tried to call four times in the days leading up to our trip to ask questions about parking, and they never answered the phone and had a full mailbox. We also emailed our question with no response.
Dec 11, 2022 · Red HerringI wouldn't recommend to stay. At first the front entrance looked fine and I walked to the room and it looked like it wasn't clean. There was hair all over the bathroom tub, sink and, towels. The sheets didn't look changed. There was yellow stains on the pillows. The next day we came back there was news papers on the floor. Other times during our stay the elevator didn't work. We had to ask our room to get cleaned and they didn't even wipe the TV, or the mirror. And the bathroom was not cleaned either. don't go here.
