Marsha P. Johnson State Park Dog Run

90 Kent Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249, USA

We love this park! During quarantine it was the only one in the area that remained opened since it’s part of the state park and therefore not a city-run dog park. The rocks may throw off some dogs who don’t like running on that surface, but it’s clean with ample seating and a water fountain for humans and dogs. There’s also a little small dog/puppy section. - Maddie

The Marsha P. Johnson State Park Dog Run offers a distinctive experience compared to many other dog parks in the city. Its surfacing, composed of pebbles, sets it apart immediately. Beyond its unique surface, the dog run is lauded for its cleanliness, ample seating for owners, and a convenient water fountain catering to both humans and their four-legged friends. It truly is a testament to thoughtful urban planning, aiming to provide a high-quality recreational space for the dog-loving community of New York.

One of the most remarkable and environmentally friendly features of the Marsha P. Johnson State Park Dog Run is its pioneering dog poop composting program. This innovative system encourages users to deposit waste directly into designated bins, allowing for environmentally sound disposal. As one satisfied user enthusiastically points out, "I don't know of another dog park that does that." While it may require a slight adjustment to the usual bag-and-bin method, this commitment to sustainability makes it a leader in urban green initiatives. This park isn't just a place for dogs to play; it's a testament to how urban spaces can integrate ecological responsibility into daily life.
