The Hoxton, Williamsburg Reviews
We stayed at The Hoxton Williamsburg for 3 nights and unfortunately had a disappointing experience overall. The room was extremely small for the price—essentially just a bed with very little room to walk or store anything (no closet just a tiny rack next to bed.) The bathroom was also tiny, and the shower design caused water to spill out all over the floor, even with the door fully shut and towels placed down to catch the water.Cleanliness was a major issue. We requested a room clean during our stay, but the sheets were not changed just the bed was redone, and a dirty cleaning towel was left in the bathroom which was quite alarming. It didn’t feel like the room had been properly cleaned or refreshed.Customer service was underwhelming and at times rude. We called the front desk a few times with simple questions, and the staff wasn’t helpful or warm. When we asked about late checkout (which they charge by the hour, which is fine), the man at the front desk responded by essentially threatening to have housekeeping come tell us to leave—this was after we had already agreed we’d hurry to check out as soon as possible. The only real positive was the beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline from our room, which was genuinely stunning and the location which is walking distance from a lot of nice restaurants and shops. But unfortunately, that didn’t make up for the poor service, lack of cleanliness, and the incredibly small and impractical room for the price. There are so many hotel options in Williamsburg that offer better service, comfort, and overall value. I would not recommend staying here.
May 28, 2025 · Ana GThe Good:Most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever experienced. The lobby has a coffee bar with gorgeous pastries.Excellent location for strolling, eating, and getting the subway.Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant K’Far serves great Israeli/Middle Eastern food. The Not So Good or Good depending:The lobby is LIVELY. It’s more like a hip, workspace/ hook place for 30 somethings. The seating is always full although we managed to grab seats on several occasions. It’s great people watching. The stairs to get to the hotel are dangerous. If you’re over 50 and have suitcases you should book another hotel. In Summary, this is a great hotel for younger hip travelers looking for fun and a place to work on their social media accounts.
Mar 22, 2025 · c nGreat location and great vibe (lobby bar; pasties; coffee and restaurant) - rooms are small but well appointed with nice views from many. Rooftop restaurant requires a reservation well in advance. Hotel discount (and a free coffee drink) available with annual membership fee.
May 29, 2025 · Mitchell FrankelThree star hotel, at best, charging 5 star prices. This had to be one of my most disappointing stays. I’m familiar with the Hoxton brand but never stayed there. I’ve only worked and partied at the Chicago location—but due to my experience staying there, I refuse to stay at another Hoxton location.Let me preface this review by stating that I mentioned my disappointment in the lack of luxury regarding Hoxton Williamsburg and was told by the front desk “this isn’t a luxury hotel. It’s a boutique lifestyle hotel.” If I had known that beforehand, I would’ve booked somewhere else and saved my $400 a night hotel money. (Full transparency: I stayed here 4 nights.)It all started with the front desk staff being unable to locate my suitcase upon check-in and asking me to come to a back room to help her locate it. To me, that seemed a bit unprofessional (not only because there were no bellman) but because this poses a security risk. Now, to the rooms; they were incredibly small, to the point I kept stubbing my toe against my own luggage. The temperature of the shower water was unregulated so it would change literally as you’re using it. The shower water continuously flooded half the bathroom floor and when I brought this up to the manager, she casually replied “It’s normal since this used to be a water factory. Want more towels?” The constant flooding caused a mildew smell to linger in the room. The channels hardly worked on the TV due to the signal constantly going out and they were super old TVs. The only good thing about this hotel is the location, as you’re in the heart of Williamsburg. Other than that, if you’re expecting a luxury stay, or even a decent one, I’d skip the Hoxton Williamsburg.
Mar 26, 2025 · Real LoveI have been meaning to stay at this place for years. Finally had the chance to spend a few nights at the hotel. The location is five stars - perfectly situated in a hip neighborhood of Williamsburg away from tourist crowds of Manhattan. The rooms are exquisite - loved the design and the comfort. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. If you are lucky and get a room in higher floors enjoy the view of Manhattan both at day and night. They also have a lovely bar, a restaurant and a rooftop bar.
