Newton Reviews
Went here mid June for 8 nights, i was Very Pleased with our room! Way more than I thought was possible for the price. It was remodeled and very spacious&modern looking. (Note: only a part of the hotel is remodeled yet) The fridge was super; the microwave worked well although we only used it once. No problems with the shower/hot water; we filled the bath multiple nights , the pressure and temperature were good. Tv was very nice, we spend quite a lot time inside the room and it was big enough for my daughter to practice dance moves and storage her costumes. The staff was Super Friendly, they showed interest in my daughter's ballet progress during her competition in the theater across the street. They would ask her how it went each day and were really happy and supportive. They really made us feel welcome and at home. I ordered some packages before and during my stay and they were very helpful and remembered my name after 1 day. Tea, coffee, bananas and 3 types of cookies/snacks were provided each day. The snack machine was working well. Enough choices to eat in this street/area (most do close before 11pm so 1night we ate the chips from the machine as a very late 'diner') the staff provided plenty of water bottles /extra shampoo/towels and the cleaning ladies were very nice; they were flexible in cleaning hours which was helpful since we were resting a lot in our room between rehearsals/dancing etc. The dust on our bedstands is the only 'negative' thing i can mention. The metro station in 96street is perfect! They have a 24/7 info boot. The hotel staff arranged a very luxury taxi for our ride back to the airport . A bit more $$ compare to the yellow cab we took from JFK but i didn't mind due of the friendly staff at the hotel and the very nice car; it was a great last ride. I would definitely rebook again!
Jul 13, 2022 · Susan Steeghs-SpanjersVery pretty hotel, and my room was small but comfortable. My one complaint about the room was that there was a step between the bedroom and the bathroom, which was easy to trip on in the middle of the night. I was also uncertain why I prepaid, but was then charged another $22 when I got to the hotel and would have appreciated more communication surrounding this. Still, you can't beat the convenience of the location and I appreciate that I was able to book on very short notice!
Feb 19, 2022 · BlytheMy kids and I stayed here the week before Christmas. The hotel is perfectly located with regards to the subway, food, grocery stores and just about anything else you might need. The hotel itself is nice and clean. Our room was very clean upon arrival and throughout our stay. Microwave and mini-fridge in the room; coffee in the lobby was a little inconvenient, but not a deal breaker. Front desk staff was helpful. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit.
Dec 25, 2021 · Michael WagnerTook 40mins to get the hot water started, the first time. After that it was fine. Air con was so noisy like a tractor. At night you had to choose between sauna heat or noisy air con. It did work though. The hair dryer in the bathroom was a health hazard and needs to be condemned. The bed was ancient and not in a good way. They had 3 small square pillows. Really uncomfortable. The door to the room was stuck every single time we used it. Everything was just worn and old from the carpet, lamps, windows, walls, wall sockets. The TV was stuck on the news. The furniture drawers were good and sturdy. Liked the quiet fridge and microwave. View was awful. Reception was well air conditioned but not the rest of the hotel. Lift was reliable and location for subway was good. This was our first time in NYC and for what we paid we could have gone somewhere much better. Disappointed.
Jul 04, 2022 · Lily HarronDefinition first - the Superior Double Room is a small room with one double bed.Room was clean and made up daily. Although numerous small issues were encountered. Cabinet door fell off when I tried to access the safe inside. The chair was shaky. Room lighting is not cozy and better bedside table lamps could fix the issue.Shower curtain was too short and lots of water splashes into main bathroom floor. The through-window AC was situated in such a way that it was catching water dripping off the roof making it fun bedtime experience. On the plus side the room is very clean. Good bed and bathroom towels. Very conveniently located next to the Subway and citybike station. Walking distance to the central park.
