The Frant Hotel is situated at 211 W 101st St, New York, NY 10025, USA. This address places it firmly within the Upper West Side of Manhattan, a highly sought-after residential neighborhood renowned for its classic architecture, tree-lined streets, and vibrant community atmosphere. The hotel's location on West 101st Street offers a balance between being on a relatively quieter side street while still enjoying immediate access to the major avenues and attractions of the Upper West Side.
Accessibility is a significant advantage of the Frant Hotel's location for New Yorkers and visitors alike, given its excellent connectivity to the city's robust public transportation network.
- Subway Access: The hotel is conveniently located just a short walk from several subway stations. The 1 train (local) has stations at 96th Street and 103rd Street on Broadway, both easily reachable. For express service, the 2 and 3 trains can be accessed at 96th Street and 110th Street (Cathedral Parkway) on Broadway, providing rapid transit to Midtown, Downtown, and various other parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Based on the context of a hotel providing lodging and the nature of the provided reviews, the Frant Hotel would typically offer fundamental services expected of an accommodation establishment. While the reviews highlight significant challenges related to cleanliness and pest control, these are operational issues rather than a lack of intended services. Here are the services generally offered by such a lodging facility:
- Room Accommodation: The primary service is providing guest rooms for temporary or extended stays. Each room would be furnished with essential items like beds for sleeping, and likely a private bathroom (though its condition may vary as per review).
- Front Desk / Reception Services: A hotel typically provides a front desk or reception area where guests can check in, check out, make inquiries, and receive assistance. One review indirectly mentions "service was kinda good since they got rid of the mice," indicating some level of responsiveness to guest complaints.
- Housekeeping (Basic): While specific cleanliness issues were noted in reviews, the intent of a hotel is to offer housekeeping services for room cleaning and maintenance. This would generally include changing linens, cleaning bathrooms, and basic tidying.
- Pest Control (Attempted/Required): Given the review mentioning "mice" and "roaches," it implies that the hotel has a responsibility and likely processes (even if not always effective) for pest control. The review stating "they got rid of the mice" suggests some action was taken, indicating this is a service provided, even if inconsistently.
- Utilities: Guests would expect standard utilities such as electricity, heating, and potentially air conditioning, along with access to water.
- Security: Hotels typically provide a level of security for guests and their belongings, which may include controlled access to the building and common areas.
It is important to reiterate that while these services are typically offered by hotels, the provided customer reviews indicate significant issues with the execution and quality of some of these services, particularly concerning cleanliness and pest management. Potential guests should consider this feedback when evaluating the Frant Hotel as a lodging option.
Based on the provided customer reviews, the features and highlights of the Frant Hotel are limited and primarily revolve around its intended function as basic lodging. While some positive aspects of a location can be inferred, the reviews predominantly point to significant challenges regarding the property's condition. Here's a factual breakdown of its features and any implicit highlights:
- Upper West Side Location: A significant highlight is its address on West 101st Street in the Upper West Side. This neighborhood is highly desirable in New York City, known for its residential charm, proximity to Central Park and Riverside Park, and access to cultural institutions, dining, and shopping. This is a considerable advantage for any accommodation in the area.
- Accessibility to Public Transportation: Implicit in its Upper West Side location is excellent access to NYC subway lines (1, 2, 3) and bus routes. This feature, common to most UWS establishments, allows for convenient travel throughout Manhattan and other boroughs.
- Individual Rooms for Accommodation: The hotel provides private rooms for guests, catering to individuals, families (as noted in one review, sharing one room), and potentially long-term temporary housing needs.
- Responsive Service (Attempted): One review notes "the service was kinda good since they got rid of the mice." While the initial problem (mice infestation) is severe, the fact that staff took action to address it, even if partially, suggests some level of responsiveness to guest complaints. This is a point of potential positive note within an otherwise negative review.
- Vintage/Run-Down Aesthetic (Observed): One review describes a room that "looks like it came out of an abandoned hospital" and states it is "run down." While not a desirable highlight, it indicates a distinct, perhaps unintended, vintage or aged aesthetic. This could be interpreted differently by guests depending on their expectations and tolerance for older accommodations.
It's important to frame these points factually based on the limited review data. The predominant sentiment in the reviews points to significant issues with the living conditions, specifically pest infestations (mice and roaches) and general disrepair, which would overshadow any potential positive features for most guests.
Given the information provided and the nature of the customer reviews, it is highly unlikely that the Frant Hotel actively promotes "special offers" or "promotions" in the conventional sense that would appeal to typical leisure or business travelers. Establishments facing the challenges indicated in the reviews (e.g., mice and roach infestations, rundown conditions, health concerns) typically focus on basic operations rather than marketing incentives.
However, if the Frant Hotel serves as a form of temporary or emergency housing, which is not uncommon for certain lodging options in New York City, any "promotions" or "special offers" would likely be in the form of:
- Government or Agency Subsidies: If the hotel partners with city agencies or non-profit organizations to provide emergency or transitional housing, the "promotion" would be the provision of lodging at a subsidized or fully covered rate for eligible individuals or families. This would not be a public offer but rather a contractual arrangement with specific entities.
- Lower-Than-Market Rates: Due to its reported conditions, the "offer" for some might be simply a lower nightly or weekly rate compared to other hotels in the Upper West Side, making it a more accessible option for those with limited budgets or specific housing needs. However, this is not a promotional tactic but a reflection of its market position given the reported issues.
- Long-Term Stay Options: Hotels that cater to temporary housing often provide more flexible or slightly discounted rates for extended stays (e.g., weekly or monthly rates). This could be an "offer" for individuals or families needing lodging for an indefinite period.
It is crucial to emphasize that any decision to stay at the Frant Hotel, especially for locals considering temporary housing, should be made with full awareness of the significant concerns raised in the provided customer reviews regarding cleanliness, pest infestations, and potential health impacts. There is no information to suggest any publicly advertised promotions for typical hotel guests.
To inquire about current rates or any specific arrangements they might have for temporary housing, the best approach would be to contact the hotel directly.
Phone: (212) 864-7400 or +1 212-864-7400
However, potential guests are strongly advised to consider the implications of the negative reviews before making any booking decisions.
For individuals seeking to inquire about potential lodging at the Frant Hotel, or for any other related communications, the following contact details are available. It is always advisable to contact the establishment directly for the most current information regarding availability, rates, and to address any specific concerns you might have.
Hotel Name:
Frant Hotel
Address:

New York, NY 10025, USA
Phone:
(212) 864-7400
Mobile Phone:
+1 212-864-7400
These phone numbers provide a direct line to the Frant Hotel's reception or management. Potential guests can use these numbers to:
- Inquire about room availability and pricing.
- Ask about the types of rooms offered and their amenities.
- Discuss any specific needs or concerns prior to booking.
- Verify any information or address issues raised in online reviews.
Given the nature of the customer reviews provided, it is particularly recommended that potential guests call and discuss their specific needs and concerns directly with the hotel staff to gain the most up-to-date and transparent understanding of the current conditions and offerings. This direct communication is crucial for making an informed decision about lodging in New York City.
For New York City locals, the Frant Hotel, despite the significant challenges highlighted in customer reviews, might be considered "suitable" only under very specific and limited circumstances, primarily related to urgent or last-resort temporary housing needs where options are extremely constrained. It is crucial to preface this conclusion by acknowledging the severe concerns raised by prior guests regarding cleanliness, pest infestations (mice and roaches), and general living conditions, which would make it unsuitable for most typical lodging purposes.
However, within the complex landscape of New York City housing, situations can arise where locals require immediate, short-term shelter. In such scenarios, if the Frant Hotel is one of the few available options due to its location on the Upper West Side and potentially lower rates (reflective of its condition), it might serve as a temporary solution. This would primarily apply to individuals or families in transitional housing, emergency situations, or those seeking an extremely budget-conscious option who are fully aware of and willing to contend with the reported deficiencies.
The hotel's location in the Upper West Side, with excellent access to public transportation (subway lines 1, 2, 3), remains a practical advantage. This connectivity ensures that even if living conditions are subpar, residents can easily access work, schools, and other essential services across Manhattan and beyond. This logistical convenience is a constant positive for any address in this part of the city.
Furthermore, for those experiencing housing crises and potentially relying on assistance from city agencies, the Frant Hotel might be one of the few places available through such programs. In these dire circumstances, the primary "suitability" is simply the provision of shelter, regardless of quality, when other options are exhausted. It becomes a matter of necessity rather than choice or comfort.
In summary, while the Frant Hotel's suitability for the general New York local or visitor is highly questionable due to the negative experiences reported, it might serve as a last-resort or emergency lodging option for those facing severe housing challenges. It's a pragmatic suitability born out of necessity in a demanding urban environment, rather than a recommendation based on quality or comfort. Locals considering this establishment must be fully informed of and prepared for the significant conditions described in the customer reviews.

Frant Hotel Reviews
As of right now I am living with my mom and brother and this has to be the most horrific place we have been to because they gave us a room that looks like it came out of a abandoned hospital, not only is it run down it was infested with mice every night, at least the service was kinda good since they got rid of the mice but my brother is still getting passively sick from living here and we all have to share one room, overall if you have a choice then don’t go here.
May 20, 2025 · Alexis MartinezI moved from one place with roach to another I have a asthma child. My son is in and out of the hospital to do the mice n roaches.I need better living.
Nov 26, 2024 · Valerie GurleyMost horrible place to ever be in. Be prepared to do it all on your own.Caseworkers will not help you with anything from finding an apartment to HRA, Refrigerators are not good for meat or produce. Stove didn't work for months and in the summer is too hot and will only let you bring in fans no A.C and it feels like the fan throwing hot air. No place for a kid to living. Lights are dark, mice and Roaches come out of no where no matter how clean you are if ya neighbor isn’t then rodents will find their way. This place make you feel miserable; remember keep busy and out of there and finally 311 never helped. Be prepared to be strong minded and go there get a great Job and save as much as you can to get out of there as soon as possible with your family. Pray 🙏🏼
Feb 05, 2022 · Lorenys NazarioThis is a family shelter! It is not a hotel! I am sure you will read many awful reviews. I was sent her with my 2 girls and although the room is tiny and yes there where roaches; However I cleaned my room make sure it stays clean. The staff has been wonderful they are trying to put me in a wonderful place, they actually care what I say and they LISTEN! I WAS IN A RV SHELTER FOR A YEAR AND I HAVE RECEIVED MUCH MORE HELP FROM HERE THE FRANT HOTEL! IF YOU KEEP YOUR SPACE CLEAN YOU CAN SIGNIFANTLY CUT DOWN THE AMOUNT OF BUGS AND ROACHES. I HAVE LEARNED 2VERY IMPORTANT THINGS FROM THIS PLACE: #1- NEVER JUDGE A BOOK ONLY FROM THE COVER! #2- WHEN YOU NEED HELP AND YOU APPRECIATE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE TRYING TO HELP YOU AND STOP ACTING LIKE ANY ONE OWES YOU GOOD THINGS WILL COME YOUR WAY!!!
