Studio and 1 Bedroom Apartments - Bronx

Timpson Place &, E 149th St, Bronx, NY 10455, USA

3.0
For a place with so many rules, I expected it to be a bit nicer. To access your room, you have to go through 4 doors, each with a different access code. It's not exactly convenient or inviting. This place definitely has a smell that I think will follow me home. Stains on the bathroom door as if it's never been washed. I was surprised the sheets were clean. They offer wifi, but didn't bother to connect the TV to it.I wouldn't be surprised if this place had cameras in the rooms because some of rules are:- Use towels for body drying only- Excessive use of the A/C unit will cost you $25/hour.- And you forfeit your deposit if you move the furniture or adjust the fridge, the MINI FRIDGE.It's a dump. I thought this would be better than staying at a hotel, but this place wasn't worth the price. - Cassandra Franklin

Studio and 1 Bedroom Apartments - Bronx Introduce

For New Yorkers exploring alternative accommodation options, Studio and 1 Bedroom Apartments - Bronx offers a distinct approach to lodging in the vibrant Mott Haven neighborhood. Situated at Timpson Place & E 149th St, this establishment operates more like a self-catering apartment rental than a traditional hotel, appealing to guests who prioritize independence and a potentially longer-term stay over conventional hotel services. It’s designed for those who seek a functional space to call their own while visiting or staying in the Bronx.

The experience at Studio and 1 Bedroom Apartments - Bronx appears to be a mixed bag, as evidenced by customer reviews. While one guest praised the "attention to detail" and felt the "hotel management takes great pride in maintaining a clean and comfortable environment," another offered a starkly different perspective, describing it as a "dump" with "disgusting" stains and inconvenient access. This highlights that individual experiences may vary significantly and that this property offers a unique, perhaps unconventional, lodging style compared to a full-service hotel.

It's important for potential guests to understand the nature of this accommodation: it emphasizes independence and self-sufficiency, which comes with its own set of rules and operational procedures. This article aims to provide New Yorkers with a clear and factual overview of what to expect from Studio and 1 Bedroom Apartments - Bronx, helping you determine if its unique approach aligns with your accommodation needs.

Location and Accessibility

Studio and 1 Bedroom Apartments - Bronx is located at Timpson Place & E 149th St, Bronx, NY 10455, USA. This address places it squarely within the Mott Haven neighborhood of the South Bronx, an area known for its rich history, evolving landscape, and strong community ties. This location offers significant advantages in terms of accessibility, particularly for New Yorkers reliant on public transportation.

The Mott Haven area boasts excellent connectivity to New York City's extensive subway and bus networks, making the apartments highly accessible from various parts of the city:

  • Subway Access: The apartments are strategically located within very close walking distance of major subway lines.
    • The 6 train (IRT Pelham Line) has a station at E 149th Street-Grand Concourse, which is just steps away. This line provides direct and efficient access to major hubs in Manhattan (e.g., Grand Central Terminal, Union Square) and connects to other parts of the Bronx.
    • The 2 and 5 trains (IRT White Plains Road Line) are also accessible at the 149th Street-Grand Concourse station, offering additional routes to Manhattan (including Times Square and Downtown) and connecting to Brooklyn.
This multi-line access is a significant convenience for daily commuting and city exploration.
  • Bus Stops: Numerous MTA bus routes operate along E 149th Street and other major thoroughfares in Mott Haven. These local bus services (e.g., Bx4, Bx4A, Bx17, Bx19) provide comprehensive coverage within the neighborhood and connections to other parts of the Bronx and upper Manhattan.
  • Driving and Parking: While street parking in New York City can always be challenging, the South Bronx may offer more possibilities compared to denser areas of Manhattan. However, visitors should be prepared for typical urban parking conditions. The location provides relatively straightforward access to major roadways and expressways (e.g., Bruckner Expressway, Major Deegan Expressway, Grand Concourse) for those driving into or out of the Bronx.
  • Walkability: The immediate area around E 149th Street and Timpson Place is highly walkable, with local shops, eateries, and essential services within easy reach. The apartments' proximity to public transportation hubs further enhances its walkability.
  • Proximity to Key Attractions: Mott Haven itself is undergoing revitalization, with new businesses and cultural spots emerging. The apartments are also conveniently located near major Bronx attractions such as Yankee Stadium (a short subway ride away) and the Bronx Museum of Art.

The exceptional public transportation access is a clear highlight, making Studio and 1 Bedroom Apartments - Bronx a well-connected option for anyone needing to navigate New York City.

Services Offered

Studio and 1 Bedroom Apartments - Bronx operates as a self-catering accommodation, meaning its services are geared towards providing a functional, independent living space rather than traditional hotel amenities. Based on the concept and customer feedback, here are the likely services offered:

  • Private Studio or 1 Bedroom Apartment: The core service is the provision of a private, fully self-contained apartment. This includes distinct living, sleeping, and kitchen areas, offering more space and privacy than a typical hotel room.
  • Equipped Kitchenette/Kitchen: A key feature of self-catering units, these apartments would typically include:
    • Mini-fridge (as noted in a review).
    • Basic cooking facilities (e.g., stovetop, microwave).
    • Basic utensils, dishes, and cookware.
This allows guests to prepare their own meals, which is particularly beneficial for longer stays or budget-conscious travelers.
  • Private Bathroom: Each apartment would come with a private bathroom, likely equipped with a shower (and possibly a bathtub), toilet, and sink. Basic towels and toiletries might be provided upon arrival.
  • Sleeping Arrangements: The apartments would feature beds (e.g., full-sized, queen-sized) with linens provided. The "1 Bedroom" option suggests a separate bedroom, while a "Studio" would combine sleeping and living spaces.
  • Basic Utilities & Internet:
    • Heating and Air Conditioning: Essential for comfort in New York's varying climate. A review mentions rules regarding A/C use, indicating it's a provided utility.
    • Electricity and Water: Standard utility provisions for a residential unit.
    • Wi-Fi: Wireless internet access is offered, though one review noted issues with TV connectivity to the Wi-Fi. This is a crucial service for modern travelers.
  • Self Check-in/Access: The review mentioning "4 doors, each with a different access code" strongly suggests a self-check-in system, where guests receive codes to access the building and their unit without needing a traditional front desk.

What is generally NOT offered (typical of a self-catering apartment vs. a hotel):

  • Daily Housekeeping: Guests are usually responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of their unit during their stay.
  • On-site Concierge/Front Desk: Support would likely be remote (via phone/messaging) rather than in-person.
  • Room Service.
  • Complimentary Breakfast.
  • Luggage Storage (outside of specified check-in/check-out times).

The focus is on providing a functional, independent living space rather than a serviced hotel experience.

Features / Highlights

Studio and 1 Bedroom Apartments - Bronx offers several distinct features and highlights that cater to a specific type of New York traveler, particularly those seeking independence and a self-sufficient stay. However, some aspects noted in reviews also present unique challenges.

  • Self-Contained Apartment Living: The primary highlight is the provision of an entire private apartment, offering more space and a "home-like" feel compared to a standard hotel room. This includes separate living, sleeping, and kitchen areas (or a combined space in a studio). This is ideal for those who prefer to cook their own meals, have more room to spread out, or are planning an extended stay.
  • Equipped Kitchen Facilities: The presence of a mini-fridge and basic cooking appliances (implied by the self-catering model) allows guests to prepare food, offering cost savings and dietary flexibility, which is a significant advantage over hotels lacking kitchenettes.
  • Independent Access System: The use of multiple access codes for various doors provides a high level of security. While one review found it "not exactly convenient," it suggests a system designed for secure, self-check-in and controlled entry, which some guests may appreciate for privacy and flexibility.
  • Potentially Clean Linens: A reviewer explicitly noted, "I was surprised the sheets were clean." While presented as a surprise, this indicates that the fundamental necessity of clean bedding is met, which is a basic expectation for any accommodation.
  • Accessibility to Public Transportation: The location at Timpson Place & E 149th St is a major highlight due to its exceptional proximity to significant subway lines (2, 5, 6 trains) and numerous bus routes. This makes navigating New York City highly convenient for guests without a car.
  • "Home Away From Home" Potential: For guests who value autonomy and a less formal lodging experience, the apartment setup can foster a more personalized "living like a local" feel, especially for longer durations.

It's important to also acknowledge potential "features" that might be perceived as drawbacks by some:

  • Strict Rules: The mention of "so many rules" regarding towel usage, AC, and furniture movement suggests a highly regulated environment, which can feel restrictive to some guests.
  • Ambiguous Cleanliness/Odor: The "smell" and "stains on the bathroom door" noted by one reviewer indicate that cleanliness standards might be inconsistent or below expectations for some guests.
  • Lack of Traditional Amenities: The absence of a connected TV to Wi-Fi, along with the inherent nature of a self-catering unit, means guests should not expect typical hotel services like daily cleaning, a front desk, or extensive on-site facilities.

The unique nature of this accommodation means that what one guest perceives as a "highlight" (e.g., independent access, self-catering) another might find less appealing if they expect a traditional hotel experience.

Promotions or Special Offers

Studio and 1 Bedroom Apartments - Bronx, as a self-catering apartment rental business, typically operates on a different model for "promotions" than traditional hotels. Given the nature of such accommodations, specific, publicly advertised "special offers" are less common. However, potential "promotions" can often be found through the booking platforms where they are listed, or inferred from typical rental practices:

  • Extended Stay Discounts: This is the most likely form of "promotion" for apartment-style rentals. Guests booking for longer durations (e.g., weekly or monthly stays) often receive a discounted nightly rate compared to short, overnight bookings. This is a significant draw for business travelers, those relocating, or individuals on extended visits to the city.
  • Seasonal Pricing: Like most accommodations, rates will fluctuate based on demand, time of year (e.g., peak tourist season, holidays), and local events. Booking during off-peak periods or well in advance might result in more favorable pricing, which can be seen as an indirect "offer."
  • Direct Booking Incentives (if applicable): If the property has its own direct booking website or platform (beyond third-party aggregators), they might offer a slight discount or added value for booking directly, as this saves them commission fees. However, for properties without a strong independent online presence, this is less common.
  • Last-Minute Availability Rates: Occasionally, if there's an unexpected vacancy, a slightly reduced rate might be offered to fill the unit at short notice. This is usually managed through online booking platforms.

Since specific promotional information for Studio and 1 Bedroom Apartments - Bronx is not publicly available beyond the provided contact details, New Yorkers interested in booking should:

  • Search for the property on major online travel agencies and apartment rental platforms (e.g., Booking.com, Airbnb, Expedia) that feature accommodations in the Bronx.
  • Once a listing is found, carefully review the pricing structure for different lengths of stay to identify any built-in discounts for extended periods.
  • Consider contacting the provided phone number directly to inquire about long-term rates or any specific offers they might have, though direct booking may also be handled through online platforms.

The value proposition for this type of accommodation is often the cost-effectiveness and flexibility of a self-contained unit, rather than frequent commercial sales.

Contact Information

For New Yorkers interested in Studio and 1 Bedroom Apartments - Bronx, here is the primary contact information:

  • Address: Timpson Place &, E 149th St, Bronx, NY 10455, USA
  • Phone: (718) 290-3117
  • Mobile Phone: +1 718-290-3117 (This is the same number, formatted for international dialing.)

Given the nature of this accommodation as potentially a self-catering apartment rental, direct communication via phone is likely the most effective way to:

  • Inquire about current availability and specific apartment features.
  • Discuss pricing for different lengths of stay, especially for extended periods.
  • Clarify the check-in process and access procedures (e.g., obtaining access codes).
  • Ask any questions about the property's rules or amenities that are not clear from online listings.
  • Address any specific concerns or requests prior to booking.

It's important to remember that as an apartment rental, there may not be a traditional hotel front desk, so advance communication and clarity on access are key. While online booking platforms are often used for reservations, direct contact can be valuable for detailed inquiries.

Conclusion: Why This Place is Suitable for Locals

Studio and 1 Bedroom Apartments - Bronx offers a distinct lodging option that can be highly suitable for New Yorkers with specific needs and preferences, particularly those seeking independence, extended stays, or a unique local experience. Its suitability lies in its departure from the traditional hotel model, providing a more self-sufficient environment.

For New Yorkers undergoing home renovations, temporary relocations, or hosting visiting family members who desire more space and privacy than a hotel, these apartments present a practical solution. The inclusion of a kitchen, even a kitchenette, offers significant flexibility and cost savings, allowing guests to prepare their own meals and avoid daily dining out expenses. This can be particularly appealing for longer stays, making it feel more like a temporary home than a fleeting hotel visit.

Furthermore, the property's location in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx is a key advantage. For locals looking to explore their own borough more deeply, or for those needing convenient access to specific areas in the Bronx or upper Manhattan, the exceptional public transportation connectivity (2, 5, 6 subway lines right nearby) is invaluable. This makes navigating the city effortless, whether for work, family visits, or leisure. It provides an authentic Bronx experience, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the local community and discover its unique character.

While the highly regulated environment and the need for multiple access codes might not appeal to everyone, for guests who prioritize security and autonomy, these features could be seen as beneficial. The emphasis on self-service allows for a less intrusive and more independent stay, catering to those who prefer minimal interaction with staff. In essence, Studio and 1 Bedroom Apartments - Bronx is suitable for New Yorkers who value autonomy, seek cost-effective extended stays, and appreciate the convenience of a well-connected, self-contained living space within the vibrant fabric of the Bronx.
