The High Line Hotel

180 10th Ave, New York, NY 10011, USA

4.0
If you’re looking to get a good night’s sleep, stay elsewhere. The walls are paper thin — you can hear everything happening outside and between rooms. On top of that, the AC wasn’t “turned on,” so we had to go without it for two nights. With temperatures over 72 degrees, the room was hot, stuffy, and uncomfortable all night long. Staff aren’t any help and told me all the fans were taken. Do better if you’re going to charge these rates. I should’ve trusted the reviews online and will not be returning. - Kelly Belchere

For New Yorkers, The High Line Hotel offers a truly distinctive and compelling reason to "check in" to their own city. Far from a generic hotel experience, it provides a unique blend of history, charm, and prime location that caters perfectly to a local sensibility.

Firstly, its unparalleled historical significance makes it a living landmark within our city. Staying at a place originally penned as the setting for "'Twas the Night Before Christmas'" and steeped in the architecture of the General Theological Seminary offers a depth of experience that no modern build can replicate. For locals, this is an opportunity to connect with New York's rich past from a comfortable and elegant vantage point, making a stay here feel less like a transaction and more like an immersive historical journey.

Secondly, the location is a significant draw. Being directly adjacent to The High Line is an enormous advantage, allowing for immediate access to one of our city's most beloved urban oases. Whether it's for a morning stroll, an afternoon art walk, or simply enjoying the elevated views, having this iconic park at your doorstep truly enhances the urban staycation experience. Its position in the heart of Chelsea also means unparalleled access to world-class art galleries, diverse culinary delights, and vibrant street life, all within comfortable walking distance. This genuinely pet-friendly approach is a rare and highly valued amenity in a city where accommodating furry family members can often be a challenge. For locals who want to include their beloved pets in their getaway, this feature alone makes the hotel exceptionally suitable. The charming garden courtyard also offers a delightful outdoor space, a treasured commodity in densely populated Manhattan.

While one review pointed out potential issues with sound insulation and AC, the overall charm, historic appeal, and unique pet-friendly policy often outweigh these concerns for those seeking a truly unique and character-filled experience. The High Line Hotel offers a sophisticated, charming, and historically rich escape right in the heart of our vibrant city, making it an ideal choice for New Yorkers looking for a memorable local adventure.
