This isn't a sprawling luxury resort, but rather a boutique-style hotel that excels in providing a clean, safe, and perfectly located base for immersing oneself in the dynamic energy of New York City. Its appeal lies in its straightforward approach to hospitality, focusing on the essentials that truly matter to a city explorer: a secure environment, proximity to transport, and a restful haven after a day of adventures. For those seeking an authentic and accessible New York experience without unnecessary frills, The Redford Hotel stands out as a reliable and highly-regarded choice, especially for solo travelers and those prioritizing location and practicality.
The Redford Hotel boasts an excellent and highly desirable location at 136 Ludlow St, New York, NY 10002, USA, placing it squarely in the heart of the Lower East Side. This neighborhood is celebrated for its dynamic atmosphere, rich history, cutting-edge art galleries, live music venues, diverse culinary scene, and vibrant nightlife. Being on Ludlow Street means guests are immediately immersed in one of the city's most exciting and culturally significant areas, offering endless opportunities for exploration right outside the door.
Accessibility is a major highlight for The Redford Hotel, particularly for those relying on New York City's extensive subway system. The hotel is remarkably close to multiple subway lines, making it incredibly convenient for navigating Manhattan and connecting to other boroughs. The F, M, J, and Z trains at Delancey Street-Essex Street station are just a very short walk away, often cited as being "so close" by guests. This provides direct and rapid access to key destinations across the city, including Midtown, Downtown Manhattan, and Brooklyn.
Beyond the subway, numerous MTA bus routes also service the Lower East Side, with stops conveniently located along major thoroughfares like Delancey Street, Allen Street, and Houston Street. This provides additional options for getting around the neighborhood and beyond. For those who enjoy walking, the hotel's location is ideal for exploring the Lower East Side on foot, allowing guests to soak in the unique character of the streets, discover hidden gems, and experience the local vibe firsthand. Despite being in a lively area, guests have specifically noted that the "street wasn't loud," which is a significant advantage for a city hotel. While street parking can be challenging in this dense urban environment, the superior subway access makes The Redford Hotel an exceptionally well-connected and practical choice for any New Yorker or visitor seeking to experience the best of the city with ease. Its central location and seamless transit links truly make it a prime base for urban exploration.

The Redford Hotel Reviews
Stayed 10 nights here and it was perfect. As a solo traveler wanting to explore the city this was perfect for me! Even the days I spent relaxing in the hotel were great. The room was clean and had all the basics (microwave and coffee downstairs) heating/cooling available, clean and comfortable beds, the only issue I had was my room key not working a few times but I did have a portable charger in my bag which messes with them. The front desk staff were lovely and so helpful and bag drop off was easy and accessible. Subway is so close, street wasn’t loud, best coffee (for aussies) on the same street and felt very safe. Would definitely stay again.
Apr 07, 2025 · Racquelle PerkinsBooked this hotel months in advance, received several confirmation emails, showed up the day of our trip and the hotel told us that our reservation did not exist. They moved us to their sister hotel (Orchard Street Hotel) across the street which was disgusting and smaller than we originally booked. If the Redford rooms look anything like Orchard Street Hotel you are going to have a bad time!
Mar 19, 2025 · Kyle BaldwinAs with most hotels in NY the rooms are small but cozy. It was 2 of us, so we got a room with 2 double beds. The room was cozy and the beds were VERY comfortable. The bathroom was also nice and very spacious. It's on a quiet street with places to eat nearby. Also easy to find by Uber drivers. I absolutely picked this hotel based on reviews!!! READ the reviews before booking your hotel in NY.
Dec 08, 2024 · Carol HernandezAvoid this hotel at all costs—terrible experience from start to finish. This was hands down the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. Upon arrival, I was given a room on the main floor with paper-thin walls. I could hear every check-in conversation and every complaint made at the front desk. When I asked to be moved, the night staff claimed the hotel was sold out and offered me earplugs as a solution. The next morning, I spoke with a different front desk agent who assured me they would move me to a room upstairs. I left my bags with them for the day, expecting a resolution. When I returned that evening, I encountered the same staff member from the night before, who informed me that not only was I not moved but I had also been checked out entirely. To make matters worse, they were using my room to store luggage for a large, noisy group that was crowded into the tiny lobby. After some confusion, the staff realized there was an available room upstairs after all, and I was moved. They offered to waive the $15-per-night facility fee (on top of the $400 per night I was paying) as compensation, which felt like a slap in the face. The nightmare didn’t end there. My new room was plagued by loud, repetitive banging all night, which sounded like pipes hitting against each other. Needless to say, I got no sleep. To top it off, I never received an emailed receipt upon checkout, and the hotel’s photos online are heavily edited—the rooms look nothing like the pictures. They’re outdated and poorly maintained.Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. This place is not worth the money or the hassle.
Dec 13, 2024 · Eiron RoffeyRooms were small but it’s what we expected so that was fine. Everything was really clean and tidy. The lady working at the desk in the morning that checked us in was SOOOO NICE! Made our stay so much better, compared to the other people working other shifts she was waaaay ahead of the game. I am awful with names so I cannot remember what her name was but she was so accommodating and polite the whole time even when we had other issues. Overall it’s a good place to stay, you have small shops nearby if you need to buy any necessities and there is a metro station less than 5 mins away. I would definitely come here again!
