The Best Western Premier Herald Square offers a compelling combination of modern comfort and exceptional convenience in a classic New York setting. While located in an older building, it has been thoughtfully maintained to provide a fresh and clean environment for guests. This hotel is not about ostentatious luxury, but rather about delivering reliable quality, attentive service, and an unbeatable location, all at a value that makes sense in the competitive New York market. Guests consistently praise the hotel's cleanliness and the professionalism of its staff, highlighting a welcoming atmosphere from check-in to check-out. A significant draw is the possibility of securing a room with a direct view of the iconic Empire State Building, transforming a simple stay into a truly memorable New York experience. Furthermore, the hotel provides essential amenities, such as a breakfast area and easy access to transportation and local attractions, making it a practical and enjoyable choice for both first-time visitors and seasoned New Yorkers looking for a convenient urban escape.
The Best Western Premier Herald Square boasts an incredibly advantageous address at 50 W 36th St., New York, NY 10018, USA. This places it directly in Midtown Manhattan, a bustling and iconic district that serves as a perfect launchpad for exploring all that New York City has to offer. Its central location is frequently highlighted by guests as a major reason for their positive experiences.
From this prime spot, guests are within immediate walking distance of numerous world-famous landmarks. Just around the corner is Herald Square, home to the sprawling flagship Macy's department store, offering unparalleled shopping opportunities. Madison Square Garden, a premier venue for concerts, sports events, and more, is also conveniently nearby.
Accessibility from the Best Western Premier Herald Square is a significant highlight. The hotel is situated remarkably close to multiple major subway stations. Staff were always friendly and accommodating. Check-in and check-out was a breeze and the gentlemen who checked us in was very helpful and had recommendations for nearby grocery stores and restaurants. Midtown Manhattan can be noisy but it was not too much of an issue up on the 12th floor. Another detailed review from a 9-day stay noted: "The hotel is well located, near transports, shopping areas and noticeable places such as the Empire State Building, Times Square or the Flatiron Building, all within walking distance. It’s an ideal accommodation option for a first-time visit to New York. We had the chance to have a direct view on the Empire State from our room. There was a little misunderstanding with our booking but the management took really good care of us - special kudos to Patrick Patel, a wonderful humain being. The whole staff is polite and friendly. There is a little bar where you can eat breakfast a which is nice. We had read some comments about surrounding noise. Indeed, there can be some disturbances, as you can hear people in the hotel’s common areas. However, it’s more a matter of courtesy and respect from the guests than an issue with the hotel itself. That didn’t stop our 4-year-old child from sleeping well at night." This review emphasizes the location, the excellent staff recovery for a booking issue, and practical insights on noise.

May 04, 2025 · Florian BrndWe booked this Best Western expecting a reliable, comfortable stay — but what we experienced was a series of preventable issues made worse by poor communication and a lack of accountability. Our original room on the 16th floor had a broken air conditioner. After it was inspected, we were told a third-party technician would be in at 8 AM the next morning. In the meantime, we were moved to a much smaller room, which wasn’t comparable to what we had booked. That night, the water in the building went out — from around 11 PM until well into the next day. No showers, no working toilet, no drinking water. When we returned that evening, we found the AC still wasn’t fixed. The technician hadn’t shown up, and the front desk had no update. Instead of offering a solution, they simply said the technician might come the next morning. No apology, no follow-through, and no sign that anyone had been tracking the issue. When I asked if they could try a different repair company, the response was, “Yeah, I know — we pay a monthly fee and he doesn’t show.” That pretty much summed it up: no ownership, just blame-shifting.At no point did staff proactively offer an alternative room, refund, or even an update. I had to initiate every step of the conversation. The staff were polite, but communication was limited and disorganized — and no one seemed empowered to solve the problem. The real issue wasn’t just the broken AC or water outage — it was the complete absence of initiative or accountability from the hotel team.
May 29, 2025 · EricAbsolutely perfect. The staff was super friendly. The location is perfect - great bagel store next door, Starbucks on corner, great pizza place around the corner, subway station a block away. The room is the smallest I've ever been in, but the view was outstanding! One entire wall was glass - floor to ceiling, wall to wall - with a great "New York" view. No free breakfast, but hotel breakfasts are always terrible, and there is delicious food right outside the hotel. I stay in hotels about 85 nights per year, and this might be the best one I stayed in all year. Seriously.
Feb 16, 2025 · John S phoneThis place is top notch - excellent and very professional service, super clean, and great location. I stayed here with girlfriends during Easter break. My father passed away at home while I was in NYC. The staff were very helpful and kind. I had to cancel the remainder of my trip and they made sure there were no penalties for the cancellation and that I'd get my Best Western points returned to me. I will definitely stay here in the future.
