New York City, a global epicenter of culture, commerce, and unparalleled energy, offers an exhilarating experience for everyone. For locals planning a vibrant Midtown staycation, accommodating visiting friends and family, or business travelers seeking a central base, finding the right lodging is paramount. The Pulse Marriott, nestled in the dynamic Garment District of Midtown Manhattan, positions itself as a compelling option, promising direct access to some of the city's most iconic landmarks and a unique urban experience right at your doorstep.
The Pulse Marriott is designed to immerse guests in the very heartbeat of New York. Its strategic location is arguably its strongest draw, placing visitors within easy walking distance of world-renowned attractions, bustling transit hubs, and a diverse array of dining and entertainment options. While individual experiences can vary, the hotel aims to deliver a convenient and engaging stay, marked by its energetic Midtown setting and appealing amenities like a rooftop bar. For those eager to soak in the essence of NYC, from the dazzling lights of Times Square to the historic grandeur of the Empire State Building and the New York Public Library, The Pulse Marriott offers a promising springboard into the city's unparalleled vibrancy. It's a choice for those who value being in the thick of it all, experiencing New York's pulse firsthand.
The Pulse Marriott boasts an "awesome" and "amazing" location at 33 W 37th St, New York, NY 10018, USA. This places it perfectly in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, specifically within the lively Garment District. Its strategic positioning is a significant advantage for both leisure and business travelers looking to explore the city with ease.
The hotel's location offers exceptional accessibility to a myriad of New York City's most famous landmarks and transportation options:
Iconic Landmarks at Your Doorstep: Guests praise its location as being "between the New York Public Library and the Empire State Building." This means these two grand architectural and cultural institutions are just a short stroll away, offering stunning views and enriching experiences. Furthermore, it's a "short walk from the Rockefeller Christmas Tree" (and Rockefeller Center year-round), making it incredibly convenient for seasonal attractions and general sightseeing.
Proximity to Times Square: While not directly "IN Times Square," which can be overwhelmingly noisy, The Pulse Marriott is within very easy walking distance. This allows guests to enjoy the dazzling lights and Broadway shows without being constantly immersed in the loudest part of the district.
Subway Access: Midtown Manhattan is exceptionally well-served by the NYC subway system, and The Pulse Marriott is no exception. Multiple major subway lines are within a few blocks' walk, providing seamless connections to virtually anywhere in Manhattan and the outer boroughs. Key nearby subway stations include:
34th Street-Herald Square (B, D, F, M, N, Q, R, W lines): A massive hub just a couple of blocks away, offering extensive connectivity.
Times Square-42nd Street (1, 2, 3, A, C, E, N, Q, R, W, S lines): Also easily accessible, expanding travel options.
Grand Central Terminal (4, 5, 6, 7, S lines): Within walking distance or a very short subway ride, connecting to the East Side and various commuter lines.
Major Transit Hubs: Penn Station (for Amtrak, Long Island Rail Road, and NJ Transit) and Port Authority Bus Terminal are both within a comfortable walking distance, making arrivals and departures by train or bus extremely convenient for regional and national travelers.
Dining and Shopping: The Garment District and surrounding Midtown area are teeming with "plenty of restaurants," cafes, and diverse shopping opportunities, ensuring guests have a wide array of choices right outside the hotel.
This superior location truly positions The Pulse Marriott as an ideal base for exploring the vibrant heart of New York City, minimizing travel time and maximizing the urban experience.
The Pulse Marriott, as a Marriott property, aims to provide a range of services designed to enhance guest comfort and convenience, leveraging its brand standards while operating in a dynamic urban environment.
Rooftop Bar: A standout service and a significant highlight is the presence of a "rooftop bar." This offers guests a unique elevated experience, often with city views, for relaxation and socializing. While a reservation "may need to be made," the availability of this amenity provides a distinct offering.
Customer Service: "People working there were great," indicating a commitment to guest satisfaction and helpful staff interactions, which is crucial for a positive hotel experience.
Maintenance Services: While one review noted "a minor maintenance issue," the very fact that such issues can be reported and, presumably, addressed (even if not always to immediate satisfaction in this specific case), indicates a system for guest support.
Concierge/Front Desk Assistance: The presence of a helpful front desk staff, as implied by "people working there were great," means guests can rely on them for various needs, from local recommendations to logistical assistance.
Housekeeping: The hotel provides housekeeping services, though one review mentions that rooms were "cleaned until 17:30," which suggests a potentially later service time for some rooms.
Wi-Fi Access: As a modern hotel, The Pulse Marriott would typically offer Wi-Fi access, either complimentary or for a fee, an essential service for both business and leisure travelers.
In-Room Amenities (Standard for Marriott): While some specific room issues were noted (clogged sink, leaky shower, stuck curtain, sagging drawers), generally, Marriott properties strive to provide standard in-room amenities like comfortable beds, climate control, and basic furnishings for a comfortable stay.
The Pulse Marriott, while receiving mixed reviews on some aspects of room quality, boasts several compelling features and highlights that draw guests to its Midtown location.
Premier Midtown Location: Its most significant highlight is undeniably its "awesome" and "amazing location" in the Garment District. Being a "short walk from the Rockefeller Christmas Tree," and positioned "between the New York Public Library and the Empire State Building," means guests are steps away from major iconic landmarks and cultural attractions. This unparalleled access is a primary reason guests choose this hotel.
Rooftop Bar: The presence of a "rooftop bar" is a highly desirable feature, especially in New York City. This amenity provides a unique opportunity for guests to enjoy evening drinks with potential city views, offering a sophisticated and memorable experience that sets it apart from many other hotels.
Walkable to Key Attractions: The hotel's position allows for easy walking access to not only the aforementioned landmarks but also Times Square (just a quick walk away, but not directly in the noisy hub), Broadway theaters, and extensive dining and shopping options throughout Midtown. This enhances the overall convenience and experience for visitors.
Good Staff Service: Despite some operational issues mentioned in reviews, the "people working there were great," indicating a generally positive and helpful demeanor among the hotel staff. Good service from front-line employees can significantly improve a guest's stay.
Strategic for Subway Access: Its Midtown location means guests have excellent access to numerous subway lines, making it incredibly easy to navigate to virtually any part of New York City, further highlighting its convenience for exploration.
Garment District Vibe: Being in the Garment District offers a unique New York experience, blending commercial energy with creative industry, providing a different feel than hotels directly in Times Square or other tourist-heavy zones.

These offers are designed to attract a diverse range of travelers, from business professionals to leisure guests and families. Advance Purchase Rates: Booking your stay well in advance can often secure a lower, non-refundable "advance purchase" rate. This is ideal for those with fixed travel plans who want to maximize savings.
Weekend Getaway Packages: Hotels in business-centric areas like Midtown frequently offer special weekend rates or packages to attract leisure travelers during off-peak corporate times. These might include reduced prices or additional amenities for stays on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
Seasonal Sales and Promotions: Marriott, as a global brand, regularly runs system-wide sales (e.g., "Cyber Sale," "Summer Savings," "Destination Deals") that include properties like The Pulse Marriott. Keeping an eye on the Marriott website is the best way to catch these limited-time offers.
AAA/AARP Member Discounts: For members of AAA (American Automobile Association) or AARP (American Association of Retired Persons), consistent discounted rates are typically available, offering a reliable way to save on accommodation.
Stay Longer and Save: Some promotions might offer a reduced nightly rate for stays of a certain duration (e.g., 3 nights or more), encouraging extended visits and providing greater value.
Corporate Rates: For business travelers, many companies have negotiated corporate rates with Marriott. If you're traveling for work, inquire about any corporate discounts your organization might have.

While hotels are typically considered destinations for out-of-town visitors, The Pulse Marriott holds significant appeal and suitability for New York City locals as well. Whether it's for a vibrant "staycation," accommodating visiting family and friends, or serving as a strategic base for specific local needs, this hotel offers compelling reasons for New Yorkers to consider it.
Firstly, its "amazing location" in Midtown's Garment District is just as valuable for locals as it is for tourists. For New Yorkers living in other boroughs or parts of Manhattan, a stay here offers a fresh and convenient way to experience the city's core. It's an ideal base for a weekend of Broadway shows, exploring the "New York Public Library" and "Empire State Building," or experiencing the festive atmosphere around the "Rockefeller Christmas Tree" without the usual commute home. Its proximity to numerous subway lines makes it "so easy to get where we want to be" for any local exploring different neighborhoods for dining, shopping, or cultural events.
Secondly, the presence of a "rooftop bar" provides a unique and desirable amenity for locals. This offers a chic spot for an evening out, a special occasion, or simply enjoying city views with friends, all within steps of your temporary home. This amenity can transform a simple stay into a memorable experience, making it an attractive option for a local "treat yourself" moment.
Furthermore, for locals needing to accommodate visiting family or friends, The Pulse Marriott provides a centrally located and well-recognized brand option. While some reviews mentioned room issues, the "people working there were great," which is crucial for a positive guest experience, and the location largely mitigates any minor inconveniences. The idea of using it as a "cheaper option to the Marquis in Times Square" for guests highlights its potential as a more budget-friendly yet still centrally located alternative.
Finally, for New Yorkers who might need temporary lodging due to apartment renovations, work-related travel, or simply a desire for a change of scenery, The Pulse Marriott offers a convenient and accessible option in the bustling heart of the city. It allows locals to fully immerse themselves in the Midtown experience, enjoying the city's energy and attractions without the daily grind, making it a suitable and strategic choice for a variety of local needs.

The Pulse Marriott Reviews
Love the garment district Pulse! It has a rooftop bar ( you may need to make a reservation). And is a short walk from the Rockefeller Christmas Tree
Dec 07, 2024 · Tom O'DonnellPeople working there were great, and the location is awesome, between the New York Public Library and the Empire State Building. The only problem is the room was definitely lackluster. Small is expected, but sink was clogged, shower door completely leaked and soaked the floor after every shower, blackout curtain gets stuck and can't close it without taking a piece of the track apart, and the drawers can't close unless you hold the ones above it up as they all sag in their tracks. We tried it as a cheaper option to the Marquis in times square, and probably won't be choosing this one again.
