D'Emic Playground is more than just a patch of green; it's a testament to community spirit and the ongoing efforts to provide accessible recreational opportunities in a dense urban environment. Named in honor of John D'Emic Sr., a prominent South Brooklyn native and community leader, the playground has a rich history dating back to its acquisition by the City of New York in 1940. It was officially named in 1973 to recognize D'Emic's significant contributions to local youth and disadvantaged communities. Over the years, the playground has seen renovations and updates, with the goal of improving its facilities for the benefit of its users. For those living in or visiting the 11232 zip code, D'Emic Playground represents a familiar landmark and a potential destination for outdoor activity.

D'Emic Playground Reviews
Large space but equipment needs updating. swings are very creaky and loud. no bathrooms. Needs more attention and could be a great space close to industry city. really hoping it gets more funding soon. We need more playgrounds in greenwood!
May 23, 2025 · Kerry MangoneUnfortunately this playground is overrun with drug and alcohol users passed out on benches and is very dirty. I stopped bringing my son here because he's stepped in human excrement and vomit. It's really a shame it's not maintained but unfortunately it's best to avoid this one.
Jul 13, 2024 · Laura Dalla BettaWifi from Dunkin Donuts, Industry City, and LinkNYC Free WiFi! Lots of benches and tables. Play structure for kids. Three basketball courts (only two have usable hoops). Lots of space under oak trees shielding the BQE a little bit.
Oct 19, 2018 · Damon LesjackIt's a decent park, if you want to just hangout. If you don't mind smog and being across the street from a garbage trucks, and live poultry.
Sep 03, 2020 · Alexander NegronGreat park with tons of open space for kids to run around
