The Vue Express @ 39th Street Introduce
For New Yorkers, the hunt for a convenient and affordable place to stay within the city, whether for a quick visit, a local getaway, or accommodating out-of-town guests, often involves weighing various factors. The Vue Express @ 39th Street, located in the dynamic borough of Brooklyn, presents itself as an option for those seeking lodging. However, unlike properties that consistently receive glowing accolades, transparency is key when discussing accommodations like this. The provided customer reviews paint a challenging picture, highlighting significant concerns regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and overall guest experience.
It's crucial to approach this establishment with a clear understanding of what current guests have reported. While hotels often aim to provide a comfortable stay, the feedback for The Vue Express @ 39th Street indicates potential issues that a prospective guest, particularly a discerning New Yorker, should be aware of before booking. This article aims to provide a factual overview, based directly on the provided customer insights, to help local users make an informed decision about whether this hotel aligns with their expectations and needs for a stay in Brooklyn. Our goal is to present a realistic perspective, empowering you with the information necessary to navigate your accommodation choices in the bustling landscape of New York City.
This overview is not designed to promote the hotel in a conventional sense but rather to inform. It's about presenting the unvarnished truth, allowing New Yorkers to understand the realities of choosing an economically priced option in a competitive market. For some, the primary driver might be simply a roof over their heads, while for others, the issues raised in the reviews would be deal-breakers. By laying out the details, we hope to serve the local community by helping them manage expectations and consider alternatives if necessary.
The Vue Express @ 39th Street is located at 536 39th St, Brooklyn, NY 11232, USA. This address places the hotel in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, an area known for its diverse community, industrial charm, and evolving landscape. For New Yorkers, the practicalities of a location are often defined by its accessibility to public transportation.
Sunset Park generally offers access to subway lines, primarily the D, N, and R trains, which serve various parts of Brooklyn and provide direct routes into Manhattan. Guests would likely need to walk a reasonable distance to reach the nearest subway station from 536 39th Street. While detailed walking distances to specific subway stops from this precise address are not provided, 39th Street is a central artery in the neighborhood, suggesting that transit options are usually within reach, albeit perhaps not immediately adjacent. This level of accessibility means that while the hotel is not in the absolute heart of tourist-heavy areas, it still offers a functional base for exploring Brooklyn and commuting to Manhattan.
However, the reviews highlight a specific accessibility concern: "The place only had 3 PARKING SPACES." For New Yorkers, especially those with vehicles or out-of-town visitors driving in, limited parking can be a significant drawback in a densely populated area like Brooklyn. Street parking can be notoriously difficult to find, making the scarcity of on-site spaces a notable point of consideration for anyone planning to arrive by car. This detail is crucial for local users evaluating the convenience of the location beyond just public transit.
Based on the provided customer reviews for The Vue Express @ 39th Street, the description of services offered leans heavily towards what was, or was not, provided during guests' stays. These reviews indicate that while some basic amenities are present, there are significant gaps and issues with the quality and availability of standard hotel services.
- Room Amenities (as reported):
- TV was present and worked on "every station" except for TNT, where the sound was non-functional.
- Air conditioning and heating are typically expected in NYC hotels, but their specific functionality is not detailed in the provided reviews.
- Private bathrooms are implied, but their condition (e.g., "dirty old style bathroom" with "names painted and scratched into the door," small shower) is a critical concern.
- Front Desk / Staff Interaction:
- A front desk representative was available when called for the TV issue.
- The staff member attempted to address the TV problem.
- Requests for a new room or a bill reduction were directed to "management," indicating a process for addressing guest concerns, though the outcome was negative ("Nor would I get a reduced bill due to all the mishaps").
- The hotel handles booking discrepancies by not providing a bill copy for Expedia bookings.
- Lack of Expected Amenities/Services:
- No Washcloths: A fundamental item typically provided in hotel bathrooms was absent.
- No Ironing Boards: Guests "had to iron on the bed" due to the lack of this common amenity.
- Extremely Limited Parking: Only "3 PARKING SPACES" were available, which is a severe limitation for a hotel, particularly in a city where parking is challenging.
- Cleanliness and Pest Control Issues:
- "Mystery body fluids staining the mattress": A significant hygiene concern.
- "Long dark hair everywhere": Indicating insufficient cleaning.
- "Just dirty rooms": General cleanliness issues.
- "Roaches running on the nightstand": A major pest infestation problem.
It is clear from the customer feedback that the hotel struggles significantly with providing basic services and maintaining acceptable standards of cleanliness and comfort. Potential guests should be aware of these reported deficiencies.
Based on the provided customer reviews for The Vue Express @ 39th Street, identifying "features" and "highlights" in a positive light is challenging. The overwhelming feedback centers on significant deficiencies rather than commendable attributes. However, to provide a factual representation while acknowledging the reality, we can interpret "features" as what the hotel does offer, regardless of quality, and "highlights" as aspects that might be considered positive, or at least functional, according to the reviews.
- Presence of a TV in Rooms: Guests reported a TV that worked on most stations, indicating this basic amenity is present, even if one channel had sound issues.
- 24-Hour Front Desk (Implied): The ability to call "down to the front desk" and have someone respond, even if the issue wasn't fully resolved, implies round-the-clock staffing for guest inquiries and issues. This is a common feature in hotels.
- Private Bathrooms in Rooms: While critically described as "small" and "dirty old style," the existence of private bathrooms within each room is a fundamental feature of a hotel.
- Climate Control (Presumed): While not explicitly mentioned, it's generally expected that NYC hotels provide air conditioning and heating, which would be a functional feature for guest comfort.
- Location in Brooklyn's Sunset Park: For those familiar with or needing to be in the Sunset Park area, the hotel's geographic placement is a direct feature. It offers proximity to certain local attractions and subway access, even if the walk to transit is not specified.
It is important to reiterate that these "features" are presented with the significant caveats derived from the customer reviews, which indicate severe issues with cleanliness, maintenance, and the overall quality of the guest experience. For instance, while a TV is a feature, its partial functionality impacts the guest experience. Similarly, having a private bathroom is a feature, but its reported condition ("dirty old style bathroom" with "names painted and scratched into the door") undermines its positive impact. The "highlights" for this property, based on customer feedback, are unfortunately overshadowed by critical negative aspects.
Given the extremely negative and detailed nature of the provided customer reviews for The Vue Express @ 39th Street, there is no public information or indication of any ongoing promotions or special offers directly from the hotel that would entice new guests. In fact, the reviews suggest that the hotel's primary concern might be basic operational functionality and cleanliness, rather than offering promotional incentives.
The reviews explicitly mention a guest attempting to get "a reduction in my room" due to various "mishaps," and being informed that they "would not get a reduced bill due to all the mishaps of such a POORLY RUN hotel." This directly indicates a lack of willingness or capacity to offer discounts or compensation, even in response to significant service failures.
Therefore, for The Vue Express @ 39th Street, potential guests should not expect to find any special offers or promotions. If any rates appear particularly low on third-party booking sites (such as Expedia, through which one reviewer booked), it is crucial to consider them in light of the severe issues reported in the customer feedback. Any "deal" might come with significant compromises in terms of cleanliness, amenities, and overall comfort, as described by past guests.
Guests should proceed with caution and prioritize understanding the full implications of booking a stay here, rather than being swayed by potential price advantages.
For inquiries or to contact The Vue Express @ 39th Street, please use the following information. Please be aware that, based on the provided customer reviews, direct communication may be necessary to address specific concerns before or during a stay.
Address: 536 39th St, Brooklyn, NY 11232, USA

Mobile Phone: +1 718-633-3500
Given the nature of the reviews, it is strongly advised to utilize these contact methods to clarify any concerns you may have regarding cleanliness, amenities, or specific room conditions before making a reservation.
Based on the provided customer reviews, it is challenging to confidently recommend The Vue Express @ 39th Street as "suitable for locals" in a positive sense. The detailed and highly critical feedback regarding pervasive issues such as "mystery body fluids," "long dark hair everywhere," "dirty rooms," "roaches running on the nightstand," and fundamental amenity failures (no washcloths, no ironing boards, limited parking) strongly suggest a significant lack of cleanliness, maintenance, and basic hospitality standards. One reviewer explicitly stated, "I would have been better SLEEPING IN MY VEHICLE."
For New Yorkers, who are accustomed to high standards of service and cleanliness, even in budget accommodations, these reported conditions are likely to be unacceptable. The hotel's location in Sunset Park, while offering subway access, does not compensate for the severe internal problems described. The scarcity of parking ("only 3 PARKING SPACES") is also a major practical deterrent for anyone considering driving or having guests arrive by car.
While a low price point might initially seem appealing to some seeking a bare-bones option for a very short, last-minute stay, the risks associated with the reported hygiene and pest issues, coupled with poor customer service regarding complaints, far outweigh any potential monetary savings. For locals, the reputation of a hotel is crucial, and the feedback presented here paints a picture of a property that falls far short of even minimal expectations.
Therefore, based strictly on the provided customer reviews, The Vue Express @ 39th Street is not suitable for locals seeking a comfortable, clean, or even reliably functional hotel experience. Locals are encouraged to consider these candid reviews thoroughly and explore alternative accommodations in Brooklyn that can offer a more reputable and pleasant stay.

The Vue Express @ 39th Street Reviews
I wish I could do zero stars. Between mystery body fluids staining the mattress, long dark hair everywhere( I have short blonde) and just dirty rooms this hotel should be shut down. Makes me wonder when the last time a health inspector was there?! This seemed more like a pay the hour hotel.
Nov 25, 2024 · Erica WileyI was in search for a last minute hotel due to the deaf of a love one. Found this place at a reasonable price. I would have been better SLEEPING IN MY VEHICLEThis was the worst hotel or whatever they would classify itself as. The place only had 3 PARKING SPACES.They didn't have ironing boards and had to iron on the bed. Shower was small and they didn't provide any washcloths.TV worked on every station, but I couldn't hear the basketball games on TNT, because the sound for that station didn't work. I called down to the front desk and asked for someone to see about fixing the issue since I wanted to watch the basketball games. He came and tried everything and changed the channels and told me that "It was the only channel that wasn't working". In other words, watch something else!I asked about getting a new room or a reduction in my room. He said he would talk with management. The morning as I was checking out, I noticed something on the nightstand. The furniture was brown so I did pay a lot of attention to it. As I was moving stuff around I saw something else moving. THE PLACE HAD ROACHES RUNNING ON THE NIGHTSTAND.I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth, I dropped something on the floor. So I close the door to pick it up. On the back of the door, there were several names painted and scratched into the door like a dirty old style bathroom.I go to the office, which is in the basement to ask about getting my bill reduced and get a copy. I was informed that since I booked through Expedia, I would not get a copy of my bill. Nor would I get a reduced bill due to all the mishaps of such a POORLY RUN hotel.
May 06, 2024 · Demetrice BrownEveryone experience seems to be different...I had no problem staying at The Vue Express...I admit I went to the wrong address at 1st (it's another place called The Vue-its a shelter) but once here I felt safe and comfortable. This is not a fancy high-tech hotel....but clean and comfortable! Rooms are small but that's NY, housekeeping busy and nice! Manager/staff were helpful and nice! Stores around, very hilly and busy neighborhood...I enjoyed my stay!!
Apr 25, 2024 · Chris WilliamsVery small room, two beds & a bathroom ~ that’s it. Floors were dirty. The gentleman at the desk let us park in his spot after his pm shift because the tiny area for parking only allows two cars! Rats right outside the hotel, roaches inside around the food area. I booked US TWO NIGHTS BUT DIDNT STAY THE SECOND NIGHT. NEVER AGAIN
Jul 09, 2024 · Rhonda ReinfordWorst stay ever . Stood 3 days and was bothered for having guests . Had a double room which should allow 4 people . Was threatened to get kicked out if I invited anymore guests to my room after already paying money for the day . Not once have I been told no guests allowed upon check in nor are there any signs saying such . After saying there for 4 days refused to match the booking price which is something they are supposed to do and have done in the past . Treated like a peasant and was still willing to pay for another night but they tried over charging me and refused to match booking price telling me to book on there when on booking it said sold out when it wasn’t . Terrible terrible business don’t know how to run a business or be polite to recurring customers who pay a lot to stay there several days a month . Have the nerve to overcharge when the Tv had no signal all day and night kept going in and out same with the Wi-Fi . Several roaches were in the room spotted them through the stay walking on the walls . Great location but poor service and rude staff . Wouldn’t recommend if you plan to invite a friend who hasn’t checked in with you they won’t let them stay and will probably complain and tell you no guests . I don’t know what happened this place used to be one of the best nonchalant places but they aren’t anymore . Felt unwelcomed by the staff.
