This place is a place out of my childhood. 50+ years ago I played at the Gillette house and attended Brownie meetings downstairs. Mrs. Derubies was the caretaker of the building, she lived in the upstairs apartment. I went to school with her children and was, I felt privileged to see and play with my friends in the upstairs apartment. It's a beautiful park and a beautiful place.for kids to play. I was back visiting NY and I always stop at Gillette park to see the property. I was there on a weekday this time so I was unable to enter the building. I still walked on the property and was engulfed in my memories. There is now an excellent "Free Little Library" just across the street. All in all a great experience. - Melinda Rhodes
