The place is 2mins walk from Penn Station & near to Madisson Square or Empire State Building or Broadway. The cost is quite low considering the loaction of mid manhattan. The best part is the 24x7 food and ammenities. The staff is super friendly, specially Dasharath. You will have shaving cream, shampoo, conditioner, body oil, toothpase available. 24x7 entry and exit. The city never sleeps. Do explore the lost & found pub downstairs. The bartender Hank & his team is very friendly. If you need to buy anything use the TARGET store towards left, or the SevenEleven store downstairs. There is a wine shop on opposite side of the road, in case you want to buy a gift for a friend. Overall top class for budget accommodation.Cons:1. The rooms are small 6ft x 4 ft. Good only for bagpackers. Photo attached.2. Common washroom3. You can not bring non-veg food inside the premises.4. You can not talk after 8pm5. Please remove the CCTV camera from above the 2nd floor washroom. There is no ceiling to any room. Don't want to end up in naked videos. Photo attached. - Sandeep Sengupta

Interfaith Retreats Introduce

In the bustling heart of New York City, finding truly affordable and conveniently located accommodation can often feel like an impossible task. For New Yorkers looking for a unique "staycation" experience, a peaceful temporary residence, or a welcoming and budget-conscious option for visiting friends and family, Interfaith Retreats offers a distinct alternative to traditional hotels. This isn't your typical loud, party-centric hostel; instead, it provides a serene, community-focused environment that prioritizes peace, accessibility, and value. For those who appreciate a quiet, respectful atmosphere and are keen to explore the city without breaking the bank, Interfaith Retreats might just be the unexpected sanctuary you’ve been seeking in the midst of Manhattan’s vibrant energy.

Interfaith Retreats boasts an incredibly advantageous location at 370 8th Ave 2nd floor, New York, NY 10001, USA. This address places it directly in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, offering unparalleled access to some of the city's most iconic landmarks and essential transportation hubs. As highlighted by numerous guests, the location is a mere two-minute walk from Penn Station, making it exceptionally convenient for anyone arriving by Amtrak, Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), or New Jersey Transit. This proximity dramatically simplifies arrivals and departures, eliminating the need for lengthy and costly taxi rides or complex subway transfers.

Beyond Penn Station, the accessibility of Interfaith Retreats is a major draw for exploring all that New York City has to offer. Madison Square Garden, a major venue for sports and entertainment, is practically at your doorstep. The majestic Empire State Building, a quintessential New York landmark, is also within easy walking distance, offering breathtaking views of the city. Broadway's famed theater district is just a short stroll away, perfect for catching a show. The extensive subway network accessible from Penn Station (including the A, C, E, 1, 2, 3 lines) provides seamless connections to virtually every corner of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. This means swift access to Times Square, the Financial District, Greenwich Village, Central Park, and more. For daily needs, there's a TARGET store conveniently located nearby, as well as a SevenEleven downstairs for quick essentials. A wine shop on the opposite side of the road caters to those looking for a special gift. This prime Midtown location truly puts the entire city at your fingertips, making every exploration effortless.

Interfaith Retreats offers a unique set of services tailored to a budget-conscious traveler who appreciates a peaceful and supportive environment. While some services might differ from a traditional hotel, they are designed to enhance a communal and convenient stay:

  • 24/7 entry and exit, providing guests with the freedom to explore New York City at any time, reflecting the city's "never sleeps" mantra.
  • Complimentary basic toiletries are generously provided, including shaving cream, shampoo, conditioner, body oil, and toothpaste, a significant cost-saving for backpackers.
  • Access to a kitchen/dining area, with "24x7 food" availability, suggesting communal food items or the ability to prepare your own meals around the clock. Guests have praised the "nice and quiet place in kitchen to edit my photographs" and the "Breakfast have been so nice."
  • Friendly and supportive staff, with specific praise for individuals like Dasharath, indicating a welcoming and helpful atmosphere.
  • Luggage storage facilities, allowing guests to store their belongings before check-in or after check-out, maximizing their time in the city.
  • Communal bathrooms, which are part of the budget accommodation model.

Interfaith Retreats, while designed for budget-conscious travelers, offers several distinctive features and highlights that set it apart, particularly its emphasis on a serene and communal environment:

  • Extremely low cost considering its prime Midtown Manhattan location, making it a top-class option for budget accommodation.
  • Unbeatable proximity to Penn Station (2-minute walk), Madison Square Garden, the Empire State Building, and Broadway, allowing for easy exploration of major attractions.
  • A unique "sanctuary" or "heaven" like atmosphere, as described by guests, which contrasts with the usual hustle and bustle of NYC. This is a significant draw for those seeking a quiet retreat.
  • Emphasis on a respectful and quiet environment, with a policy against talking after 8 PM, which ensures peaceful nights.
  • Communal kitchen/dining area that fosters a sense of community and allows guests to prepare their own food.
  • Small, compact rooms (approximately 6ft x 4ft), ideal for backpackers who primarily need a clean, safe place to sleep and store their belongings, rather than spacious luxury. Photos attached by guests confirm this.
  • No ceiling to individual room enclosures, which implies a more open, communal sleeping arrangement, common in some hostel formats.
  • Access to the "Lost & Found pub downstairs," offering a friendly social outlet with welcoming bartenders like Hank and his team.
  • A strict policy against bringing non-vegetarian food inside the premises, which contributes to the retreat-like, interfaith environment and communal kitchen use.

It's important for potential guests to be aware of certain aspects, as noted by reviewers: the small room size, common washrooms, the non-vegetarian food policy, and the "no talking after 8 pm" rule, as these define the specific, unique experience offered by Interfaith Retreats.

Given the unique nature of Interfaith Retreats as a budget-friendly and community-oriented hostel with a focus on a quiet environment, specific "promotions or special offers" in the traditional hotel sense (e.g., seasonal discounts, loyalty programs) may not be frequently advertised. The primary "promotion" is the consistently low cost for an unbeatable Midtown Manhattan location. However, it's always advisable to:

  • Check their direct booking platform or contact them via phone for the best available rates, as prices can fluctuate based on demand.
  • Inquire about any potential long-term stay discounts if you are planning an extended visit, as some hostels offer better rates for longer durations.
  • Be aware that their value proposition is primarily in the affordability combined with prime location and unique atmosphere, rather than frequent discount campaigns.

The core value proposition of Interfaith Retreats lies in providing an exceptionally affordable and peaceful base in an otherwise expensive city, which in itself acts as a continuous "special offer" for budget-conscious travelers.

For New Yorkers, Interfaith Retreats offers a surprisingly suitable and valuable option for several local scenarios. If you're a local embarking on a "staycation" to explore a different side of Manhattan on a budget, this hostel provides an unparalleled central base without the typical cost of Midtown hotels. For artists, writers, or remote workers seeking a quiet space to focus and create within the city, the "no talking after 8 pm" rule and serene environment could be a significant draw, offering a unique type of urban retreat.
