For those of us who call New York City home, navigating the city's vast array of hotels can be a strategic decision. Whether you're planning a convenient staycation to fully immerse yourself in a specific neighborhood, hosting out-of-town guests who need a central base, or simply seeking a comfortable and well-located spot for a quick overnight stay, the right hotel can make all the difference. Stewart Hotel, situated in the bustling heart of Midtown West, aims to be that ideal hub, offering accessibility and space that can be a real asset in our vibrant metropolis. This article is crafted for our fellow New Yorkers, providing a clear, engaging, and informative overview of what makes Stewart Hotel a strong contender for your next urban stay, highlighting its prime location and distinct features.
Stewart Hotel has long been a fixture in the New York City hospitality scene, known for its strategic positioning and often more spacious accommodations compared to typical Manhattan hotel rooms. While, like any well-used establishment in a "very busy city with a lot of tourist foot traffic," it may show signs of wear and tear, its core strengths lie in its excellent location and potential for a truly satisfying stay when things align. As one reviewer aptly noted, "Location is excellent and very central," and when "everything was sorted out... we had a great stay." This suggests that for many, especially those prioritizing convenience and room size, Stewart Hotel can indeed deliver a "Great" experience, despite some operational hiccups. We will delve into its unparalleled location, explore the typical services offered by a hotel of its scale, highlight its key features (including the rare perk of potential balcony views), and ultimately, conclude why it remains a viable and compelling choice for New Yorkers seeking a practical and central accommodation solution.
The emphasis on location and the potential for a positive resolution of issues, leading to an "amazing" stay for some, points to a hotel that, despite challenges, can still deliver on its promise of a prime New York experience.
Location and Accessibility
Stewart Hotel boasts an incredibly strategic and highly accessible address at 371 7th Ave, New York, NY 10001, USA. This places it directly in the heart of Midtown West, one of Manhattan's most dynamic and transportation-rich neighborhoods. Its position on 7th Avenue, between West 30th and 31st Streets, means it is nestled directly opposite one of New York City's most vital transportation hubs.
For New Yorkers, the accessibility of Stewart Hotel is arguably its single greatest advantage. The hotel is located directly across from Penn Station, a major nexus for Amtrak, Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), and NJ Transit. This unparalleled proximity makes it an absolute ideal choice for anyone traveling into or out of the city by train, significantly reducing transit time and hassle. Whether you're commuting from Long Island, New Jersey, or even other states, the convenience of stepping off the train and being essentially at your hotel's doorstep is invaluable. Furthermore, Madison Square Garden, a world-renowned venue for concerts, sporting events, and large-scale performances, is literally steps away. This makes the Stewart Hotel a perfect base for attending an event, allowing guests to walk directly to and from their entertainment without needing additional transportation.
Beyond these immediate landmarks, the hotel's central location also provides superb access to New York City's extensive subway network. Major subway lines, including the 1, 2, 3, A, C, E, N, Q, R, and W trains, are all available at Penn Station and Herald Square (just a few blocks east), ensuring seamless connectivity to virtually every part of Manhattan and beyond. This allows for effortless exploration of Times Square, the Theater District, Greenwich Village, Chelsea, and major business districts. Numerous bus routes also run along 7th and 8th Avenues, offering additional convenient options for local travel. This combination of being adjacent to key transportation hubs and major attractions makes Stewart Hotel an exceptionally practical and efficient choice for New Yorkers and their visitors seeking a central and well-connected stay in the city.

For New Yorkers, Stewart Hotel, with its commanding presence in Midtown West, offers a highly suitable lodging option that directly addresses some of the city's most critical needs: unparalleled accessibility and room for comfort. While past experiences might vary, its core strengths make it a compelling choice for a variety of local scenarios.
Firstly, its location is simply unbeatable for convenience. Being directly across from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden is a massive advantage for any New Yorker. Whether you're catching a train for a quick getaway, attending a concert or a game, or simply need a centralized meeting point, the ability to walk directly to these major hubs without navigating lengthy commutes or multiple subway transfers is incredibly valuable. For those who prioritize a spacious room and an absolutely central, transit-friendly location above all else, Stewart Hotel presents a strong case.
In conclusion, Stewart Hotel provides New Yorkers with a strategically located and often more spacious option for urban accommodation. Stewart Hotel Reviews
I went a few years ago but never did review so Im doing now.I had a leg infection and couldn't walk much, the elevators are all in a row and you tap one button (the closest to me) but then the elevator that showed up was the one in the other side and I wasn't able to get there in time and the door closed. This happened more than once. The service was horrible.I didn't have phone in my room, though I was supposed to have. A doctor was trying to call to arrange visit (I had the leg infected because of a dogs bite) and they send the call to my rooms number but since I didnt had a phone nobody answered of course!I complain about the phone thing all day, they finally came 1:30 am to install it!! and they werent able to do it because I dont know why (so... no phone). Before I asked for extra pillow (I needed my leg high), it came 2 am after the phone thing.I asked for a spoon that never came...The location is good and the room itself was good to. But the service was the worst.
Apr 28, 2025 · Manuela ViolaFirst room was unprepared and shoddy. After a quick word, the manager upgraded us to the apartment suite, with panoramic balcony. Amazing views and location.Once everything was sorted out (much to our great satisfaction) we had a great stay. Staff were amazing and everyone involved were very amenable. Location is excellent and very central. We both would definitely book again on our next visit to New York. Please remember that New York is a very busy city with a lot of tourist foot traffic and her hotels are very well used, and, like any well loved thing, are subject to wear and tear, so you can't always expect the premises to be in absolute best condition.
Apr 03, 2025 · StJohn O'NeillWe stayed here for 5 nights in october. Yes the hotel is a little darws but most are in new york. The hotel is in the perfect location for everything you would want to do. Everyhwere is within walking distance. Reception staff could have been more welcoming after such a long journey but all other staff were lovely. The men on the door always offered a good morning or a good afternoon. The maids came in each day and cleaned the room
Feb 18, 2025 · Laura LydonThe most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. Do not go. It had a horrible energy, it was not clean at all—truly disgusting. I asked to change rooms, thinking the problem was just THAT particular room, but no. They were all the same. It does not deserve 4 stars at all; I would give it 2.
Mar 16, 2025 · Alexandra BehrThe location is the only good thing about this hotel, the rest is a shame. Poor service, I stayed in a room with 2 beds, one was ok, and the other was broken and had no bedding, I had to go and ask at the reception. They also charged us a resort fee, even if we prepaid our stay. We were supposed to get this fee back, but it didn’t happen and we had to call them for weeks to solve the problem. I don’t recommend at all, I would never return to this hotel.
