It’s a place where you can drop your bags, refresh, and head out to immerse yourself in the city's unparalleled attractions, knowing you have a comfortable and secure place to return to.
Jazz on The Park Hostel boasts an enviable address at 36 W 106th St, New York, NY 10025, USA. This puts it in a sweet spot within Manhattan's Upper West Side, directly across from the iconic Central Park. Its location is undoubtedly one of its most significant assets, offering immediate access to one of the world's most famous urban green spaces. Imagine stepping out of your hostel and being just a few steps away from sprawling lawns, scenic paths, and countless recreational opportunities within Central Park itself. This also means you're in a relatively safe and quieter part of NYC, providing a welcome respite from the constant buzz of Midtown or Times Square, yet still incredibly well-connected to all major attractions.
Accessibility to Jazz on The Park Hostel is excellent, largely thanks to New York City's comprehensive public transportation system. The hostel is just a short walk to major subway lines, particularly the B and C trains, which can whisk you downtown to areas like Times Square, Greenwich Village, and the Financial District with ease. The 1, 2, and 3 subway lines are also accessible, providing even more reach across Manhattan. Numerous bus lines also service the area, making it convenient to navigate local neighborhoods or connect to other parts of the city. While car parking is generally not an amenity at city hostels, and given New York’s excellent public transport, it’s not typically needed, the direct street access and proximity to transit hubs make arrival and departure hassle-free. For those arriving from out of town, all major airports (JFK, LaGuardia, Newark) have straightforward public transit connections that will bring you within easy reach of the hostel.

As a budget-friendly accommodation option, Jazz on The Park Hostel’s primary "promotion" is its inherently affordable pricing in a prime New York City location. Hostels are designed to offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional hotels, making them attractive for travelers conscious of their spending. While specific, ongoing commercial promotions like discounts might not be consistently advertised publicly, guests can often find the best rates by booking directly through the hostel's official channels or via major hostel booking platforms, especially during off-peak seasons. It’s always a good idea to check their website or call directly for any current deals or special offers that might be available for extended stays or group bookings. Additionally, the inherent value of free Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping, and luggage storage can be considered part of the promotional offering, as these are conveniences that would typically add to the cost in other types of accommodation.
For direct inquiries or to make a reservation, you can reach Jazz on The Park Hostel using the following contact information:

- Phone: (646) 438-9222

It is always recommended to call ahead or visit their official website for the most up-to-date information on room availability, rates, and any specific policies, such as check-in/check-out times (check-in is generally 3 PM, check-out by 11 AM) or towel policies (some reviews mention a charge for towels in private rooms despite rules indicating free towels, so it's wise to clarify).
Jazz on The Park Hostel is an excellent choice for locals, particularly students and young adults, or even those on a budget looking for a temporary stay in a prime location. Its strategic position directly across from Central Park makes it a superb base for exploring the city's green heart, whether for a morning jog, a leisurely picnic, or simply enjoying the outdoors. For New Yorkers who might need a short-term, affordable place to stay while visiting friends or attending events on the Upper West Side, or perhaps for those exploring a different neighborhood, this hostel offers a practical and cost-effective solution. The clean facilities, friendly staff, and the vibrant, social atmosphere (though not overtly stated, common areas in hostels encourage interaction) make it more than just a bed for the night; it's a part of the New York experience. While it caters significantly to international travelers, its local accessibility via public transit and its budget-friendly nature make it a smart choice for any local who values location, cleanliness, and affordability without needing the full-service amenities of a high-end hotel. It's a pragmatic and enjoyable option for anyone wanting to immerse themselves in the city’s offerings from a convenient and welcoming hub.

Jazz on The Park Hostel Reviews
My brother and I stayed in this hostel for one night and I think three stars is a fair review. We stayed in a private bunk bed room so I can’t comment on the shared room experience. The good things: the location is perfect and seems to be in a relatively safe and quieter part of NYC. The staff were relatively friendly and the room was clean. It is a very small room with just the beds, a table and lockers to lock your things in but it was perfect for our one night stay. There is heating in the room but it doesn’t seem like you have control over when it comes on. The showers and toilets were clean and I had ample hot water and water pressure. The not so good things: you will more than likely have to wait 5-10 min to be helped at the front desk but that’s not a big deal. What I found odd was that in their rules it says guests get a free towel when staying in a private room but when we asked we were told it was $5 each. There was also only a flat sheet and a pillow provided in the rooms which was not adequate for me in a NYC winter luckily the heating switched on in the middle of the night. To get to the women’s bathroom from our room you had to go through the stairwell which was a bit inconvenient.Overall I enjoyed my stay and would recommend to a student or young adult wanting to visit NYC at a somewhat affordable price.
Dec 10, 2022 · Gess RoloGreat location for walking around manhattan. It’s just across from Central Park with a pretty decent bodega down the street. I came here as a lone traveler. It’s a bed and a small locker. What else could you need. They clean the rooms at like 8 am every morning so you better be up. Staff was friendly and the place was clean.I recommend a stop at the Dublin house pub if you come here. It’s a brisk walk but it’s worth it.
Aug 29, 2023 · Colonel BennettWould not recommend. This place is just a spot to rest for the night.Probably the worst hostel I’ve been to. If you have a top bunk there is no outlet for you. There was not a functioning sink on the floor. Only one shower for 30+ ppl. Facilities were not clean. Bring your own lock for the lockers. On the plus side, they do have bagels in the morning and location is great.
Nov 12, 2023 · Derreck DaSilvaI stayed only one night and it was really correct contrary to the very negative reviews and I was well received by the people at the reception. My room was in fair condition and the bathroom too. The location is currently undergoing work on the kitchen /living area but that’s not a big deal. The localisation is perfect with the metro nearby. The only thing I would recommend is that some improvement work should be done in the toilet / add some curtains in the bedroom etc
Sep 07, 2023 · Leïla MoumniNot good hostel. Small washroom for the entire floor. They have 6 people per room, and 6 rooms. No elevator available. So you have to take your luggage on your own till 5th floor.Room keys stops functioning multiple times. I had to come down for room key again and again.
