For outdoor enthusiasts across the New York region, especially those on Long Island, finding a truly expansive and engaging trail system can be a game-changer. Manetto Hills Park in Plainview, NY, stands out as just such a destination, offering an impressive natural landscape that challenges and delights. This isn't your average neighborhood green space; it's a dedicated haven for active recreation, renowned for its extensive trail system that promises a genuine escape into nature right here in Nassau County.
Locals who have discovered Manetto Hills Park consistently rave about its primary feature: an "amazing 9-mile trail." This isn't merely a flat, paved path; it's a dynamic journey through "hills and valleys," providing a varied terrain that's perfect for pushing your limits, whether you're into walking, hiking, skating, biking, or running. The sheer length of the trail ensures that every visit can be a unique adventure, allowing you to immerse yourself deeply in the natural environment.
What truly sets Manetto Hills Park apart, beyond its impressive length, is its tranquil and often "lightly traveled" atmosphere. In a densely populated area like Long Island, finding a quiet trail where you can truly connect with nature without significant crowds is a rare luxury. This park offers just that – a serene setting where you might only encounter "one runner in 3 hours," as one reviewer noted. This peace and solitude make it an ideal spot for focused exercise, meditation, or simply a quiet retreat from the daily hustle.
Despite some minor notes about less-than-perfect markings or occasional overgrown spots (which dedicated users often address themselves, showcasing community pride), the park is largely navigable with "decent blue and white tree markers in most areas." It’s a testament to the dedication of its users and the inherent beauty that even small imperfections don't detract from the overall "beautiful scenery." For those seeking a substantial, challenging, and peaceful outdoor experience, Manetto Hills Park is a must-see.

Manetto Hills Park Reviews
Great place. Amazing 9-mile trail, great for walking, hiking, skating biking, and running. Definitely worth pushing your limits with the sheer length of the trail with all the hill and valley and beautiful scenery as well. Must see for yourself
Aug 18, 2023 · Kieko D.Nice, lightly traveled, quiet, trail but entrance is not well marked. Overgrown in spots but, as I always do, I brought my pruning shears along and did my best to clear the paths. I'd say it was 98% clear though. The total distance was between 5.5 and 6.5 miles depending on which you trust more, my All Trails GPS or my Fitbit. Only saw one runner in 3 hours. No wildlife. Enter on the Round Swamp side or Mary Court or Washington Avenue. Decent blue and white tree markers in most areas to keep you from getting off course. Very few side trails.Have fun
