Ramada by Wyndham North Bergen Introduce
For New Jersey residents and visitors planning a trip to the bustling metropolitan area, finding a hotel that balances affordability with convenient access to key destinations like New York City and the Meadowlands can be a challenge. The Ramada by Wyndham North Bergen aims to offer just that – a value-conscious option strategically located to serve both local needs and those looking to explore beyond the immediate vicinity. This hotel often appeals to families and travelers prioritizing practical amenities and easy transportation.
It's important to note that, as of recent feedback, the Ramada by Wyndham North Bergen is undergoing significant reconstruction and renovation work. While this can sometimes lead to temporary inconveniences, it also signifies the hotel's commitment to improving its facilities and guest experience in the long run. Guests have highlighted its excellent value for money, reliable access to public transportation, and fundamental services like daily housekeeping and complimentary parking. Understanding its current state of transition is key to setting appropriate expectations for a stay here, but for many, the benefits of its location and price point outweigh these considerations.
The Ramada by Wyndham North Bergen is ideally situated at 2750 Tonnelle Avenue, North Bergen, NJ 07047, USA. This highly visible location on Tonnelle Avenue (US Routes 1 & 9) provides exceptional accessibility for those traveling by car. It offers straightforward routes to various parts of Northern New Jersey and crucial connections to major highways that lead directly into New York City.
One of the most significant advantages of this hotel's location is its superb access to public transportation for New York City. Guests can enjoy the convenience of the NJ Transit bus to Port Authority in New York, with a bus stop just a "10-minute walk" from the hotel. The frequency of buses, arriving "every 4 minutes," means minimal waiting time, providing an efficient and cost-effective way to reach Midtown Manhattan and its attractions without the hassle of city parking.
Beyond NYC, the hotel's location also offers good access to key New Jersey destinations. It is approximately 5 miles from MetLife Stadium, making it a viable option for those attending sporting events or concerts. The American Dream entertainment complex is also within convenient reach. For air travelers, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is accessible from this location. The availability of "free parking" on-site, including space for larger vehicles, is a considerable benefit for guests driving to the hotel, further enhancing its overall accessibility and appeal for a broad range of travelers.
The Ramada by Wyndham North Bergen provides a range of services designed to offer a comfortable and practical stay, particularly for value-conscious travelers and families. While some services might be impacted by ongoing renovations, core offerings include:
- Complimentary Breakfast: The hotel offers breakfast, described by one reviewer as "good" for a value-for-money option, although another noted it as "very mediocre" with powdered eggs. It aims to provide a convenient start to the day.
- 24/7 Coffee Availability: A noted amenity is the "Coffee is 24x7 available," which is a significant plus for guests seeking a warm beverage at any time.
- Daily Housekeeping: Guests appreciate that "Daily housekeeping was prompt, neat, and well-done." This includes regular towel and bedsheet changes, ensuring a fresh room experience.
- Free Parking: A major benefit is the "free parking" available on-site, which is particularly valuable in the New Jersey/NYC area where parking can be costly and scarce.
- Private Shuttle Service (Paid): For added convenience, the hotel offers "private shuttles paid service," providing an alternative to public transport for reaching destinations.
- In-Room Amenities: Rooms typically include essentials such as a TV (though remote functionality for certain features may vary), and basic toiletries. Guests have noted the presence of coffee makers, microwaves, and fridges in rooms at similar properties in the area, which would be standard for a hotel of this class.
- Front Desk/Staff Assistance: Reviewers consistently highlight the staff as "incredibly kind and courteous," and "very friendly," indicating a strong focus on guest relations and a willingness to assist.
- Quick Check-in: The hotel is noted for its "Quick check-in" process, minimizing wait times for arriving guests.
- Luggage Storage: It is common for hotels of this type to offer luggage storage facilities for guests arriving early or departing late.
- Vending Machines: For quick snacks and beverages, vending machines are typically available.
The Ramada by Wyndham North Bergen offers several key features and highlights that, despite its current state of renovation, contribute to its appeal for a specific segment of travelers:
- Exceptional Value for Money: This is a consistent highlight, particularly for families and travelers seeking an affordable base for exploring the New Jersey and New York City areas without the higher costs of luxury hotels.
- Superb Public Transportation Access to NYC: The hotel's location just a 10-minute walk from an NJ Transit bus stop, with buses every 4 minutes to Port Authority in NYC, is an outstanding feature. This convenience makes it incredibly easy and cost-effective to access Manhattan's attractions.
- Free On-Site Parking: The availability of free parking is a significant advantage, especially for guests traveling with their own vehicles, as parking in the metropolitan area can be both challenging and expensive.
- Consistently Friendly and Courteous Staff: Despite challenges related to construction, multiple reviews praise the staff for being "incredibly kind and courteous" and "very friendly." This positive human element is a major highlight, contributing significantly to guest satisfaction.
- Daily Housekeeping: The prompt and thorough daily housekeeping, including towel and bedsheet changes, is a strong positive feature, ensuring a clean and comfortable room throughout the stay.
- 24/7 Coffee: The continuous availability of coffee is a small but appreciated amenity, providing comfort and convenience at any time of day or night.
- Strategic Location for Meadowlands Attractions: Beyond NYC, its proximity to MetLife Stadium and American Dream makes it a practical choice for attending events or enjoying entertainment options in the Meadowlands area.
- Proximity to Grocery Store: The fact that an Aldi supermarket is a "10 minutes walk" away is a practical highlight for families and budget-conscious travelers, allowing for easy access to groceries and snacks.
It is important to acknowledge that the ongoing construction ("under construction, so lots of unfinished areas") and issues like non-working elevators and some room maintenance issues are significant aspects of the current guest experience. However, these are often temporary pains associated with the promise of future improvements.
As a part of the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts chain, the Ramada by Wyndham North Bergen participates in various brand-wide promotions and often offers specific deals to attract guests. For New Jersey locals and out-of-state visitors looking for value, here are common types of "offers" you might find:
- Wyndham Rewards Program: The hotel is part of the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program. Guests can earn points for eligible stays, which can then be redeemed for free nights, discounts, or other rewards across the Wyndham portfolio. This is a consistent benefit for frequent travelers.
- Seasonal and Package Deals: The hotel may offer seasonal promotions, such as discounts for specific travel periods (e.g., summer, holidays) or packages that might include a discount for extended stays. Given its proximity to NYC, sometimes there might be special offers tied to major city events, though this would need to be verified.
- Advance Purchase Rates: Guests who book their stays well in advance and commit to a non-refundable reservation often receive a lower rate.
- Member-Exclusive Rates: Wyndham Rewards members typically receive exclusive rates that are not available to the general public, encouraging direct bookings and loyalty.
- AARP, AAA, and Military Discounts: Like most major hotel chains, Ramada often provides discounts for AARP members, AAA members, and current or former military personnel. It's always advisable to inquire about these if you qualify.
- Group Rates: For those traveling in larger groups, such as for events, family reunions, or corporate travel, the hotel can usually provide special negotiated group rates for block bookings.
- Renovation-Related Incentives: While not explicitly advertised, sometimes hotels undergoing significant renovations offer slightly lower rates as a temporary incentive to guests, acknowledging the potential for some inconvenience. This would be a strategy to maintain occupancy during improvement phases.

For New Jersey residents, the Ramada by Wyndham North Bergen presents a compelling, value-driven option, particularly for those prioritizing location and practical amenities over luxury. While the hotel is undergoing renovations, its core benefits make it suitable for various local travel needs.
Firstly, its excellent value for money is a significant draw. For families or budget-conscious travelers in New Jersey, finding an affordable hotel that still offers essential comforts and services near a major metropolitan area is crucial. The Ramada provides that balance, allowing residents to save on accommodation costs which can then be allocated to experiences in NYC or local attractions.
Secondly, the hotel's location and its accessibility to public transportation are paramount. New Jersey locals looking to visit New York City can take full advantage of the frequent NJ Transit bus service to Port Authority, just a short walk away. This eliminates the stress and expense of driving and parking in Manhattan, making spontaneous day trips or evening excursions much more feasible. For those driving, the free on-site parking is an invaluable amenity, a rarity in this densely populated corridor.
Furthermore, the commitment to daily housekeeping, including fresh towels and bedsheets, ensures a consistent level of cleanliness and comfort, a fundamental expectation for any stay. The round-the-clock coffee availability and the convenient proximity to an Aldi grocery store also add practical benefits for local families, allowing for greater control over dining expenses and routines.
While the ongoing construction is a factor to consider, many guests have reported minimal disturbance, and the positive attitude of the "incredibly kind and courteous" staff helps mitigate any inconveniences. For New Jersey residents who understand that they are choosing a value-oriented option and who prioritize strategic access to both local attractions and New York City, the Ramada by Wyndham North Bergen serves as a highly functional and suitable base, offering the essentials for a practical and enjoyable trip.

Ramada by Wyndham North Bergen Reviews
We really enjoyed our stay at Ramada by Wyndham North Bergen. We were traveling as a family with two kids and stayed for three nights. I'm giving my rating based on several key factors: excellent value for money, easy access to public transportation (the NJ Transit bus to Port Authority in New York is just a 10-minute walk, you get buses in every 4 minutes), and the added convenience of private shuttles paid service not free. Daily housekeeping was prompt, neat, and well-done. They change the towels as well as bedsheet everyday. Breakfast was good, the staff were incredibly kind and courteous, and free parking was a big plus. Coffee is 24x7 available. One thing to note is that there was some reconstruction work happening during our stay. However, we personally didn’t experience any noise or disturbances, so it didn’t affect our comfort. Aldi is 10 minutes walk so you can get grocery there. Overall good for family in term of value for money. You should not compare with Marriott as you pay hell lots of money there. It's not a very lavish or luxurious one but for a trip visiting places like NY it's a good one.
Apr 26, 2025 · Bimal MohantyQuick check-in, friendly staff. It’s under construction, so lots of unfinished areas, bad painting, tile work that doesn’t lineup. We waited to get up to the seventh floor and when we finally got to our room, our keys didn’t work. So we tried figuring it out assuming that we were doing something wrong but then had to go back downstairs, the manager came up open the door and our Keys got reprogrammed or dialed in, who knows. Later that evening, the keys stopped working again, and I had to get mine redoneOur showerhead when we moved it would wobble back-and-forth so who knows when that’s gonna be an issue. There was about a pinkies thickness of caulk around the bathroom sink, which didn’t really look too classy for the price we paid.New tiles in the bathroom, but same 20+ year-old hairdryer that doesn’t function. Bath tub had been painted and is showing the previous black paint that it was painted underneath. Our remote to the TV function for volume and channel and turning it on, all other features like sleep or captions were unavailable.Construction material everywhere in the parking lot only two out of the four elevators work which means it’s about a 10 minute wait to go up or down the elevator. Again, the staff was very friendly.Breakfast was very mediocre, the cheap powdered eggs would probably be the star of the show, that was the only thing that I knew where it came from. Everything else was just frozen stuff that had the thought and then baked or we had to microwave ourselves. The coffee was watery and occasionally had grounds in it. There wasn’t adequate seating for breakfast. The crowning jewel was listening to a smoke alarm beep all through our stay down the hall from us. I pointed it out to the front desk and they told me it’s probably the batteries and that I could probably change it. For the price we paid we shouldn’t have Had to deal with a lot of of this.I don’t think we’ll be staying at a Ramada Again, anytime soon. My wife also Wanted me to mention that the blankets were too thin and we had to get an additional one for bed, there was only a single mirror in the bathroom, which is tough for getting ready, and of course, the dryer just being a symbolic piece of hairstyling tools left adorned to the wall. Also, gym underwear construction.
May 25, 2025 · Michael HThe place is in a state of disrepair with damage to the walls and ceilings. The phone did not work in our room; when we let the person at the front desk know, he assured us that it does work as if we are stupid. Several doors to the outside were unavailable. The elevator service was spotty. Our room smelled like paint. There was no clock, no closet, no iron or ironing board, no trash can in the bathroom, no closet, no do-not-disturb sign, no cups or glasses, no luggage rack, and no chair. They didn't even have numbers on the door; every room on our floor was marked with a little piece of paper taped to the door. Breakfast was free but it was pretty bad; don't expect even a basic waffle station.
May 25, 2025 · Alyce ColemanWe had a great stay at this hotel, first of all we got our room upgraded on arrival and was pleasantly suprised by the design and cleanliness of the room. The reception staff were always very helpful in any way that we needed including allowing us to borrow the phone to make reservations. We couldn’t work out the TV remote so they gave us a new one to try and 10 minutes later they came up to the room to make sure we had worked it out. We always felt safe in and around the hotel, our room had a security lock from the inside which helped with this. Breakfast was included and had a range of pastries, cereals, toast and breakfast muffins. Hot drinks, water and ice were available 24/7 from the little room next to reception with juices also available in the morning. Our room was cleaned to a great standard when we wanted it including fresh towels, flannels and products which were dove shampoos, conditioners, shower gels and soap. It is in a great location about a 10 minute walk to the bus stop to get into New York, we mostly used the express shuttle service which cost $3.50 each person each way and it dropped us off right at the main bus station which is in Times Square. This hotel is great value for money and we would definitely stay here again if we came back.
May 13, 2025 · Lauren HillierWe stayed here out of necessity due to a moving situation. The room was listed as a King bed, turned out to be a squeaky full size. Horrible for 2 parents and a 2 year old. The outdated shiny tile floors were sticky. Worst part was the guests next door to us having some sort of domestic issue where the door was being banged on for almost 2 hours at 2am. The phone wasn’t even connected in our room but we called via our cellphones & Complained to front desk twice.Never staying at a Wyndham/Ramada & sticking to Hilton & Marriott for the $300 price range a night. My first negative review I’ve ever had to leave. Hope no one else has this issue & BEWARE!
