Red Wing Recreation Area Reviews
I hiked the trails up to the overlook a couple of days ago. April 3rd 2025. I came home with FOUR ticks on me. I don't know if it's just this area (because I never get them by my house in beekman/ Hopewell junction area) or if the warming climate has anything to do with it. I was on trail the whole time and did not walk through any other areas. I would recommend staying away from here.
Apr 06, 2025 · VonDerCamp75The trails were relatively well marked with blazes, however I had no idea what the blazes symbolized. No where could I find a map of all the trails. From the map that was present onsite and available Dutchess County's website, I thought there was just one trail but as I started to walk around, I quickly found numerous trails and became lost. Luckily I had a trail app and was able to find my way back but I never actually found the overlook.
Sep 16, 2024 · Daylim SheridanShort walk, uphill in parts but not daunting. VERY well maintained trails. Well marked, punctuated by endearing butterfly crossing and deer crossing signage and humorous, diminutive Stop signs where trails meet (just in case there is a "rush hour" view is truly pretty. Perfect place for beginners to hike and folks with children to walk. Grateful for the use of the private property. Thank you Red Wing Sand and Gravel
Sep 15, 2019 · Julia SheehyVery nice area for trail running near Poughkeepsie. I was traveling to the area for business and went by after meetings. Trail markings were a little confusing, but overall layout of the park was easy enough to follow. Access at roads at the bottom, cell tower / overlook at the top, with trails connecting them all. Just keep track of your compass directions and you won't have any troubles. Huge thanks to the Red Wing Sand and Gravel company who created this recreation area!
Jul 26, 2018 · Robert EnochsBesides parking on the shoulder of the road because of the closed gate, the nature trail was great! The cell phone tower at the top is where the trail leads to with a picnic table and a view.
