Steers Beach Introduce
For New Yorkers seeking a tranquil escape to the shoreline without the bustling crowds, Steers Beach in Northport, NY, presents a truly delightful option. Tucked away on the scenic Eatons Neck peninsula, this charming beach is a beloved local secret, celebrated for its serene atmosphere, pristine conditions, and, perhaps most notably, its utterly breathtaking sunsets. Unlike some of Long Island's larger, more boisterous public beaches, Steers Beach offers a more intimate and peaceful experience, making it an ideal destination for those looking to unwind, connect with nature, or enjoy quality time with family and friends in a relaxed setting.
Steers Beach is a testament to the quiet beauty of Long Island's North Shore. Its calm waters, fed by the Long Island Sound, are perfect for swimming, while the clean sand provides an inviting space for sunbathing, picnicking, or simply watching the boats glide by. Reviews from real visitors consistently highlight its cleanliness and quietude, with one guest noting, "The beach is clean and quiet and has beautiful sunsets." It’s also known for unique and delightful surprises, like the occasional sighting of local wildlife, including deer, adding to its natural charm. Managed with care, Steers Beach maintains a welcoming environment where the focus remains on the natural beauty and the peaceful enjoyment of the coastal landscape. Whether your aim is to swim, soak up the sun, or simply witness one of Long Island's most spectacular sunsets, Steers Beach promises a memorable and refreshing experience for locals and visitors alike.
Steers Beach is idyllically situated on Eatons Neck Rd, Northport, NY 11768, USA. This location places it on the scenic Eatons Neck peninsula, which extends into the Long Island Sound from the village of Northport. Its position provides stunning waterfront views and a sense of peaceful seclusion, while still being relatively accessible from surrounding communities.
Access to Steers Beach is primarily by personal vehicle. Eatons Neck Road is the main thoroughfare leading to the beach. For those driving, the beach is readily reachable from various parts of Long Island, including Northport, Huntington, and other towns in Suffolk and Nassau counties. While the beach itself is noted as "small," parking is typically available and convenient, as mentioned in customer reviews ("Parking was convenient"). However, like many popular beaches on Long Island, especially during the peak summer season (Memorial Day through Labor Day), beach parking permits are often required. These permits are generally available for purchase by residents of the Town of Huntington, with daily passes also available for residents and sometimes non-residents (though often at a higher fee for non-residents). It is highly advisable to check the Town of Huntington's Parks and Recreation Department website or contact them directly for the most current information on parking regulations and permit requirements before your visit to ensure a smooth and hassle-free arrival.
For those relying on public transportation, direct bus routes to Steers Beach may be limited due to its location on a peninsula. However, visitors can utilize the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) to reach the Northport or Huntington station. From either station, a short taxi or rideshare service would be necessary to complete the journey to the beach. The beach is generally accessible from the parking area, and while specific detailed information on accessibility features for individuals with disabilities might require direct inquiry with the Town of Huntington Parks Department, public beaches usually strive to provide some level of access. The overall convenience of its location for local vehicle traffic, coupled with the tranquility it offers, makes Steers Beach a highly desirable destination.

Steers Beach Reviews
I went to this beach to watch the sunset and it DID NOT disappoint! The beach is small and clean for the most part. There were secured kayaks and canoes which made things look a little messy, but they were out of the way. Special bonus: a small herd of deer came running onto the beach at sunset. It was terrific!
