The Fifth Avenue Hotel Introduce
For New Yorkers seeking a luxurious staycation, hosting out-of-town guests in style, or simply looking for an extraordinary experience within their own city, The Fifth Avenue Hotel presents itself as a notable option in Manhattan's vibrant hotel landscape. Located at 1 W 28th St, New York, NY 10001, USA, this hotel aims to offer a distinctive and high-end lodging experience that stands apart from more conventional accommodations.
The Fifth Avenue Hotel is positioned as a luxury establishment, often described as a visually stunning property with a unique aesthetic. One reviewer enthusiastically likened it to a "Wes Anderson fever dream," highlighting its distinctive design and character. This suggests a hotel that prioritizes atmosphere and unique visual appeal, aiming to provide an immersive experience beyond just a comfortable room. While some guests laud its "friendly and welcoming and beautiful" ambiance and the dedication of staff members like Louis at the front desk and Jake the concierge, who are eager to share the hotel's charm and assist with reservations, a recent experience from a guest in a high-end suite suggests that the execution of five-star service can sometimes fall short of its ambitious pricing and prestige. This highlights that, like any top-tier establishment, guest experiences can vary. However, for those intrigued by a hotel that offers a blend of artistic design, a prime location, and a promise of high-end amenities, The Fifth Avenue Hotel invites a closer look, aiming to be more than just a place to stay, but a destination in itself.
The Fifth Avenue Hotel boasts an enviable address at 1 W 28th St, New York, NY 10001, USA. This prime location places it squarely in the heart of the NoMad (North of Madison Square Park) neighborhood, a district that has rapidly evolved into one of Manhattan's most dynamic and sought-after areas. NoMad is celebrated for its blend of historic architecture, burgeoning culinary scene, trendy boutiques, and vibrant nightlife, making it an ideal base for both exploring the city and enjoying local neighborhood charm.
For New Yorkers, this central position offers unparalleled accessibility. The hotel is just steps away from Madison Square Park, a beautiful green oasis perfect for a leisurely stroll or enjoying outdoor events. Iconic landmarks like the Flatiron Building are also within easy walking distance, adding to the picturesque surroundings. The cultural and entertainment offerings of Midtown are just a short distance north, while the charming villages of Downtown are easily reachable to the south.
Accessibility via public transportation is a significant advantage. The Fifth Avenue Hotel is surrounded by multiple subway lines, ensuring seamless travel throughout the city. Guests can easily access:
- The N, R, W, and 6 trains at the 28th Street and 23rd Street stations, all within a few blocks.
- The 1 and 2 trains at 28th Street and 7th Avenue.
- The F and M trains at 23rd Street and 6th Avenue.
This extensive subway network provides direct connections to major attractions like Times Square, Central Park, the Theater District, and countless other destinations. Additionally, numerous MTA bus routes run along Fifth Avenue, Broadway, and other adjacent streets, offering further convenient transportation options. For those arriving by car, while street parking in Manhattan can be challenging, several parking garages are available in the vicinity. The ease with which one can navigate to and from The Fifth Avenue Hotel underscores its suitability as a central and convenient hub for experiencing all that New York City has to offer.

The Fifth Avenue Hotel Reviews
Loved this hotel! It’s so friendly and welcoming and beautiful to boot! We stayed at both Casa Cipriani and The Fifth Avenue Hotel, and my boyfriend and I both loved the Fifth Avenue Hotel the most. Upon checking in, the receptionist Louis gave us a tour, and you can tell how much he loves the hotel and wants to share how cool it is/its history. The Concierge (Jake?) was also so friendly and got us reservations. It’s a Wes Anderson fever dream with lots of happy people. A++ from me!
Apr 22, 2025 · Shelley WeaverDeeply Disappointed by the Fifth Avenue Hotel – Not Worth the PriceI recently stayed in the Mansion Suite at the Fifth Avenue Hotel to celebrate my mother’s birthday—a special occasion for which we spared no expense. At nearly $3,000 per night, we expected exceptional service and attention to detail. What we experienced instead was the most disappointing stay I’ve had at any five-star hotel globally.Unacceptable Restaurant Delay: Despite having a confirmed reservation at the hotel’s restaurant for my mother's birthday dinner, we were made to wait almost 40 minutes past our scheduled time. For a property of this caliber, such delays are simply unacceptable.Billing Error: We were erroneously charged $110 for in-room dining that we never ordered. We did not consume a single drop of wine during our stay, yet wine was included in this false charge. When we brought this to the attention of the front desk, the response was perfunctory at best.Poor Front Desk Handling: The front desk manager, Victoria, acknowledged the mistake but only offered a muttered apology. No gesture of goodwill, credit, or any form of service recovery was extended—a basic standard at any luxury property when such errors occur. One Bright Spot: The only positive moment during our stay was our restaurant server, who provided excellent cocktail recommendations for my uncle. Their professionalism was a stark contrast to the rest of the experience. As someone who spends over a month each year staying at luxury properties around the world, I can confidently say this was the worst experience I’ve had at any five-star hotel of this price range. For the price and prestige, the service and management fell dramatically short.I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to anyone.
May 02, 2025 · Tamara KimAmazing service without pretentious demeanor. Staff had wonderful attention to detail. The hotel is decorated in such a unique way with a beautiful eclectic character. The Portrait Bar is also amazing for drinks and food. Great alcoholic and nonalcoholic options. Location is right next to the subway and central to Manhattan. Did not hear any street noise in our room. Will definitely stay here again on our next visit.
Mar 31, 2025 · Jourdan BrownWow, just wow... The hotel itself is excellent but rarely have I ever experienced the triple threat of hospitality 1) Amex Black level concierge - they got us 3 of hardest reservations (corner store, Carbone, and Polo bar) last second in 1 weekend. 2) Great location with the most helpful, elegant and courteous front desk I've ever seen where our luggage seamlessly disappeared from our hands and was in our rooms before we can blink and again in the house car taking up to the penn station on the way out. Not to mention the early checks in generous upgrades they offer and access to nearby awesome high end fitness health clubs 3) clean, sophisticated rooms with European charm and unique portrait bar room that takes you into a new realm. The breakfast we at Carmelita was so charming and delicious . Honestly even for NYC standards this hotel blows it out of the park and would be worth even double the rates. Thank you to Ben, Jake, Andrea, Jaylin, Justin Yara and Paula for one the best weekends in cities we had in many years.
Apr 21, 2025 · Matthew KhaliliA very last minute booking, which turned into the best hotel stay I’ve ever had. The attention to detail was second to none. Every staff member were so polite and helpful. They upgraded me automatically at checkin, then there was an issue with the AC and they immediately upgraded me again. It also smelt divine, they so kindly gifted me their signature candle on check out, which was so appreciated. I couldn’t recommend it enough!
