Farmingdale is a vibrant community on Long Island, known for its dynamic business environment, educational institutions like Farmingdale State College, and proximity to major Long Island attractions and transportation hubs. For travelers, especially those with connections to the Republic Airport or requiring easy access to the surrounding areas, a hotel like TownePlace Suites can be incredibly appealing. The promise of suite accommodations with kitchenettes and the reliability of a Marriott brand are often key decision-making factors. However, as with any travel decision, understanding the full picture, including honest guest feedback, is crucial. This article will provide a balanced overview, drawing on available public information and customer experiences to give you a clear, factual understanding of what TownePlace Suites Republic Airport Long Island/Farmingdale offers. We'll cover its location, specific services, highlights, and important considerations that locals, and those visiting like locals, should be aware of.
It is important to provide a comprehensive and factual account, acknowledging both the positive aspects and the concerns raised by real customers. Reviews for TownePlace Suites Republic Airport Long Island/Farmingdale indicate a mixed guest experience. While the hotel offers spacious two-bed suites and a unique view of the runway, which some guests find "super cool," there are consistent criticisms regarding the overall cleanliness, particularly a strong smell of animal urine on the stairs and in the carpets. Guests have also reported issues with thin walls leading to noise disturbances and occasional lack of hot water in showers. On the positive side, the front desk staff are frequently praised for being "very nice and helpful" and accommodating guest requests, such as providing extra coffee. The consensus among some reviewers suggests that while the staff is decent, the overall facility might benefit from more thorough renovation and maintenance, with some advising to "stay somewhere else" or "spend your money elsewhere," potentially even at a neighboring hotel. This article will reflect these points to offer a factual and balanced perspective.
TownePlace Suites Republic Airport Long Island/Farmingdale is strategically located at 1 Marriott Plaza, Farmingdale, NY 11735, USA. This address places it directly adjacent to Republic Airport (FRG), making it an exceptionally convenient choice for travelers flying in or out of this regional airport, or those conducting business in the immediate vicinity. The "Marriott Plaza" designation hints at a cluster of Marriott properties, suggesting a well-established and easily navigable hotel complex.
For guests traveling by car, the hotel's location offers excellent accessibility to major Long Island roadways. It is situated very close to the Southern State Parkway and the Republic Airport exit, providing quick and direct routes to various parts of Long Island, including Nassau and Suffolk counties. This ease of access is a significant advantage for business travelers with meetings across the island or for families exploring Long Island's attractions. The hotel offers ample on-site parking, a common amenity for suburban hotels, which further enhances convenience for those with vehicles.
While directly adjacent to Republic Airport, it's important to note that this is a smaller general aviation airport, not a major commercial hub like JFK or LaGuardia. Therefore, public transportation options directly from the airport to the hotel are limited. However, Farmingdale is served by the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), with the Farmingdale station providing connections to New York City and other Long Island towns. Access from the LIRR station to the hotel would typically require a short taxi, ride-share, or potentially a local bus connection. The hotel’s proximity to major highways, combined with its specialized location near the airport, positions it as a highly accessible option for those prioritizing vehicular travel and quick connections to the Republic Airport. It's also notably close to Farmingdale State College, making it a convenient option for visitors to the campus.

For locals in the New York region, particularly those living in or frequently visiting Long Island, TownePlace Suites Republic Airport Long Island/Farmingdale can be a surprisingly suitable option, even with the mixed reviews. While not a typical choice for a "staycation" for every local, its specific features cater to several local needs.
Firstly, for those undertaking home renovations, hosting extended family, or dealing with temporary housing needs, the suite-style accommodations with fully equipped kitchenettes are a significant advantage. This provides a "home away from home" environment, allowing for meal preparation and a more comfortable, spacious living arrangement than a standard hotel room. This is invaluable when your own home might be disrupted or overflowing.
Secondly, its proximity to Republic Airport and major Long Island highways makes it an ideal base for local business travelers. If your work requires frequent travel across Long Island, or if you have early morning flights out of Republic Airport, the hotel's convenient location minimizes commute times and maximizes efficiency. The free Wi-Fi and ample workspace in the suites are also beneficial for productivity.
Thirdly, while some reviews mention noise issues, the consistent praise for the "very nice and helpful" front desk staff is a strong positive. Knowing that you'll be met with accommodating service is a significant comfort, especially if you have specific needs or requests during your stay. This professionalism can make a considerable difference in the overall experience, turning potential frustrations into manageable situations.
Finally, for aviation enthusiasts among locals, the unique runway view is undeniably a highlight. It offers a fascinating backdrop that can make a stay memorable and provide a different perspective of the local area. While considerations regarding cleanliness and noise are important, for those prioritizing space, kitchen facilities, or a specific location near Republic Airport, TownePlace Suites can still be a practical and often valuable choice for locals on Long Island. It’s about understanding its specific strengths and matching them to your particular needs, recognizing its role as a functional, extended-stay option.

TownePlace Suites Republic Airport Long Island/Farmingdale Reviews
Oops, I should have read the reviews.... Learn from me, stay somewhere else😅I stayed with the family for 3 nights. The view of the runway was super cool but that was the only good feature. The two bed suite was large enough but not well furnished. It's like they tried to renovate the hotel but only the floors and the walls. I can't even say with 100% the carpets in the stairs were replaced as it stank of animal urine, all three days. The staff was decent. Helped us get checked in and even brought us more coffee when we requested it.The photo of the luggage cart gives you an idea on the overall cleanliness of the facility.Spend your money elsewhere. Maybe across the parking lot at the courtyard lol
Mar 19, 2025 · Kevin TaborThe walls are paper thin, and my neighbors phone conversation kept me up all night. In the AM, the shower had no hot water. Would never return. On the positive, the front desk staff were very nice and helpful.
Mar 30, 2025 · David GThis place is horrible. Do NOT stay here. I am a loyal Marriott customer and I can’t believe the quality of this property. I don’t understand how it has over 4 stars on both the Marriott app and google. They have to be fake/paid reviews. Listen to the one stars.I stayed here two nights and I had to switch rooms in the middle of the first night because of very loud noises coming from the outside like metal screeching against the building or something. The heating unit was very loud so I called the front desk and they sent maintenance, who switched the circuit breaker in the room to off, which fixed it (just meant I had no heat). There is a terrible musty, smoky smell in the hallways being covered up by some disgusting cleaner. The place has a lot of long term tenants who play loud music. The shower took a while to warm up but it got warm (not hot) and the faucet in the sink was ice cold (I ran it for 10 minutes). There is fake hardwood throughout and cheap college dorm furniture. The place is not clean and I could not wait to check out. I didn’t even attempt the free breakfast because it wasn’t worth being in the hotel any longer than I needed to.The staff was courteous but the property needs to be condemned. Marriott disassociate from this property or put some serious money into it. Reminded me of a motel in a seedy part of town.
Jan 20, 2025 · Mathew HookerRooms were freshly painted, had to endure the smell of paint all night, other than that it was a great experience, rooms were clean and sheets cleaned , carpet was vacuumed and towels were cleaned, free bottles of water were offered upon arrival and breakfast in the morning. Billing issue was resolved promptly upon checkout and refund issued to card for over charges.
Feb 19, 2025 · kay allenThis hotel did not live up to my expectations for a Marriot property. It was dingy, the floors were shabby, the rooms were sparsely and uncomfortably furnished with old furniture that needed replacing. The TV remote in our room was physically broken. The representative at the service desk was very nice. Breakfast was fine. It was kind of neat being right next to the airport, but I’m an early riser so I can see how this could also be seen as a negative. The large suite sizes were also great for our family.
