Bolden Mack Park Introduce
For residents of Amityville, New York, and surrounding communities on Long Island, Bolden Mack Park is more than just a patch of green; it's a dynamic and spirited community hub. Named in honor of Bolden Mack, a remarkable North Amityville resident who lived to be 110 years old and was known for his tireless work on his own property, this park embodies a rich local history and a vibrant present. It serves as a vital gathering place where families come together, friends share laughter, and the electrifying energy of streetball tournaments fills the air. Bolden Mack Park truly represents the heart of local recreation in Amityville, offering a unique blend of active sports facilities and a welcoming, communal atmosphere.
The essence of Bolden Mack Park is captured perfectly in the reviews from its visitors. It's an "Awesome local park" with "cool vibes," where "families and friends" gather. This positive sentiment highlights its role as a central point for community interaction and enjoyment. While some reviews note areas that "can use some TLC with weeding and maintenance," the overall consensus remains overwhelmingly positive, earning it a "5 Star" rating for its communal spirit and the memorable experiences it provides. The park’s commitment to providing a clean space, as evidenced by its general cleanliness, further enhances its appeal as a reliable destination for outdoor activities.
One of the most exciting aspects of Bolden Mack Park is its reputation as a premier destination for streetball. The "Nice Streetball Tournament (The Mack)" is a legendary event that brings out top talent, enthusiastic crowds, and an undeniable energy. This tournament, often compared to famous New York City streetball venues like Rucker Park and Dyckman Park, showcases the park's vibrant athletic culture. The presence of a "really good" game announcer, "plenty of rap music," and "good vibes" creates an atmosphere that is as much a cultural event as it is a sporting competition. It’s a place where talent is celebrated, and the community unites through the shared passion for basketball.
Beyond the thrill of the games, Bolden Mack Park also offers essential amenities for everyday use. Its playground provides a much-needed space for younger children to play and explore, contributing to their physical development and social interaction. The availability of handball courts, despite some needing maintenance, adds to the park’s versatility, catering to different sporting preferences. For Long Island residents, Bolden Mack Park is more than just a recreational facility; it’s a living testament to community pride, a place where history is honored, and where every weekend, especially during peak seasons, can become a celebration of local talent and togetherness. It's a testament to how local parks can truly define and enrich the character of a neighborhood.
Bolden Mack Park is ideally situated at 3453 Great Neck Rd, Amityville, NY 11701, USA. This location places it squarely in North Amityville, a vibrant part of Long Island within Suffolk County. Its central position on Great Neck Road makes it a prominent and easily recognizable landmark for residents in Amityville and the surrounding areas.
Accessibility to Bolden Mack Park is quite convenient for locals. While it is primarily reached by car, its proximity to main roads in Amityville ensures a straightforward drive from various parts of the community. For those utilizing public transportation, the park is accessible via bus routes. The Albany Ave/Great Neck Rd bus stop is just an 8-minute walk away, and other bus stops like Nys 110/Jefferson Ave are also within reasonable walking distance. For those coming from further away on Long Island, LIRR stations in Farmingdale and Amityville are accessible, though they require a slightly longer walk or a short taxi/ride-share from the station to the park.
Parking, however, is a consideration. While the park is a popular venue, particularly during events like the "Mack" tournament, reviews indicate there might be "limited seating and lawn space" and potentially limited parking areas. This suggests that during high-traffic events, visitors should plan to arrive early or consider carpooling to secure a spot. Despite this, the park's integration into the local transportation network and its position within a residential area make it a highly accessible and frequently visited destination for the Amityville community.

As a municipal park managed by the Town of Babylon, Bolden Mack Park itself does not typically offer commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the traditional sense for public access. Entry to the park and use of its general facilities like the basketball courts, handball courts, and playground is free for all visitors. The "promotion" here is the consistent availability of a vibrant community space for free.
However, "special offers" and unique experiences are often associated with the events and programs hosted at the park by various community organizations. For instance, "The Mack" Streetball Tournament, while a competitive event, often features "home cooked food," "plenty of rap music," and a lively atmosphere that acts as an informal "offer" of entertainment and cultural immersion. Events like the "51st Annual North Amityville Community Parade & Festival Day" frequently include free activities, vendor spaces (with local businesses often offering their own specials), dance contests, and community initiatives like anti-gun violence basketball games, providing value and engagement for attendees.
Local sports leagues or community groups that utilize the park for their programs might have their own registration specials, early bird discounts, or free trial sessions for residents interested in joining. For example, events like "Mike James Day" celebrate community leaders who have contributed to the park's upgrade and often involve food, music, and giveaways. For New Yorkers looking to engage with the park, staying informed about these community-led events through local news, social media, or the Town of Babylon's park schedule is the best way to discover any "special offers" in the form of unique experiences and community gatherings.

Bolden Mack Park Reviews
Awesome local park. Clean. There was a basketball event which brought out families and friends. Handball courts can use some TLC with weeding and maintenance with wall/floor cracking. 1 maybe 2 out of 4 useable courts. Children’s play ground can also use a maintenance refreshing as well. Overall 5 StarCommunity park!
