Sohotel Reviews
I booked this hotel for our NYC getaway through the Capital One Travel app—pretty last-minute. After booking, I checked the reviews and got a little nervous. For the price, I expected better feedback, but it was non-refundable, so we went with it.To my surprise, the stay was actually great! The hotel was clean, comfortable, and in a perfect location—just a short walk from Little Italy and SoHo. The only downside was that there’s no elevator, which felt a bit strange for a hotel in this price range, but we managed.I parked about three blocks away, and the hotel offered a discount on parking, which helped. Overall, no complaints. We had a great experience and would definitely recommend it!
May 28, 2025 · Adam AStayed at this stylish hotel near Spring St Station and Bowery. The interior is trendy and dimly lit, with ornate decor. You enter into a charming lounge and head upstairs for check-in. Unfortunately, I was upsold $40 for an early check-in, which wasn’t ideal, but I went with it since I was pregnant and it was my birthday. The room was small and minimal, typical for NYC, with Edison bulb lighting and a smart TV (though we couldn’t get it to cast). The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was nice—though not the most private acoustically. The shower was decent but didn’t stay hot for long. The biggest issue was the thermostat, which wouldn’t cool below 77-85°F despite our settings. At night the door locks but it was easy to ring the bell and gain entry with our key. Lot’s of great places to visit nearby. There’s no elevator, but amenities include a small business center, vending machines, and morning coffee. Overall, a cute and cozy stay with some quirks.
Feb 17, 2025 · C SjoenThe hotel is a very trendy and moody boutique hotel. If you’re expecting something compatible to a larger hotel like the Hilton, then this isn’t for you.Our group rented two rooms. The smaller one was super tiny. But the biggest complaint was the bathroom. It was very outdated and cheap looking. The larger room definitely was roomier and more modern. Our complaint about this room was the bed. We had to ask for extra pillows because they completely deflate the moment you put your head down. And our comforter had a huge stain (which looked like urine) on it, but didn’t catch it until we were packing unfortunately.
Apr 20, 2025 · Anthony BisbanoVery clean and nice hotel stay overall. Only complaint would be that this hotel is four floors with no elevator??? Not advertised well either, it was okay for my stay but just thinking of someone who is disabled not knowing this hotel is not accessible.
May 29, 2025 · Kaleigh WalshNot recommended– overpriced and disappointing experience.Briefly: our reservation was canceled without proper warning, we had to rebook at a higher price, extra charges were demanded for separate beds, the room was small and unwelcoming, no breakfast or water provided. Feels more like a hostel than a hotel.Full review below:Absolutely not recommended. The hotel is nice, but the prices are outrageous for what it offers. My cousin and I booked two nights at this hotel. First issue: while I was traveling, I received a threatening email demanding immediate payment for the room. Since I was on the road and didn’t see the email in time, my reservation was canceled 48 hours before my arrival. My cousin called the hotel to rebook, but they added nearly $80 to the original price.Second issue: upon arrival, we discovered the room had a small double bed. We requested two separate beds and were told it would cost an additional $70 per night plus tax. We declined. The room was small, poorly lit, and felt a bit suffocating, certainly not like the one in the photos. They tried to make it nice, and the location itself wouldn’t even be bad.No breakfast is offered — not even for a fee!Just coffee. I asked if I could have some water, and they told me to use the vending machines… which don’t accept credit cards, only cash (which I didn’t have).I was advised to walk a few blocks to buy water at a convenience store. Is this a hotel or a hostel? I don’t like leaving negative reviews, and they’re almost never aimed at the staff, who are simply following the policies they’re given.
